I still don't get it. If this is a 2"x4" beam and you are cutting a 45 degree angle, then the adjacent side and opposite sides would be 2". And The top of the big one is now 2". However, the hypotenuse of the small one, that it lays down on, should not be 2", but 2.8". Something is off.

hello and thanks for the video, im framing a 30 degrees wall with 3x 10 cm studs. i tried tis trick and didnt work. do you have an idea on how i can fill the gap beetween the two walls? the two walls are already standing thanks in advance

We tried this and had trouble with the lumber splitting but we believe longer fresher lumber would work better next time i do this. Thanks for tutorial

How do you do a similar thing with different angles? I need to make an 80 degree wall.

Barry Morfill cut it at 40 degree angle, as two 40 would make a 80 angle

Thanks.. . perfect for my 4 x4 posts using deck boards on a small 30" fence. By design my posts are running @ 45 deg angle in some areas . I think this will help me running my boards ..
