After the tech injects the drug to mimic stress does it feel like you're running? What happens if you stress the heart too much? Do the inject you with an antidote?
Wow that's great achievement in medical history ❤
Sounds like possible post viral damage from long COVID.
Thanks.
As a retired EP-Cardiac device technician you have created a very well-explained and clear lesson on EP. Congrats and I hope more will follow.
Can someone help me understand how humans are made to ingest dairy? I’m not taking about ethically, but instead biologically. This is milk for a baby cow quite literally. I’ve always wondered if it was healthy or inflammatory. I’ve heard so many mixed ideas.
What's with the red blotches on her face? What? Wait. No way. She's been eating chocolate? I don't believe it. No way.
Great explanation!!
Wow this is great. I am an internal medicine resident but I am in love with EP. Thank you so much for creating such content!
I have that stopping sensation especially just after I get these various weird wild pounding beats like a thud jumping etc like my heart reset itself. I was diagnosed with bigeminy years ago im 62 and these started at 17 I've had a few different drs say they hear murmurs or palpitations and even once said trigeminy but no one has ever stated you have this or that just the bigeminy.. I'm wondering is the sudden drop feeling stopping feeling is something I should be worried. I also saw on my echo results the words mild thickening of the left wall and MITRAL VALVE: Mildly thickened leaflets. There was trace regurgitation. And again indications: murmur and says the aortic and mitral valves have mild thickened leaflets
The heart stopping sensation may be related to the extra ventricular beats (bigeminy). I would have this reassessed if you are concerned. Depending on how many “extra beats” you are having, you may be a candidate to various therapies. Regarding the echocardiographic findings: while what you mention does not sound high-risk, it would be best to discuss the details with the ordering physician. - Dr. Alexander Postalian
What if you have that score, all your bloodwork is good except borderline cholesterol but you've had a very healthy lifestyle diet and exercise for 30 years? My doc said there is only so much I can do.
Some patients tend to deposit plaque in the arteries at lower levels of circulating cholesterol. Prior insults (like smoking) can play a role. Moreover, there can be other types of "bad cholesterol" that are not being measured. If an individual has that calcium deposition in the coronaries, they should be aggressive with prevention even if blood cholesterol levels are not "horrible". - Dr. Alexander Postalian
@TexasHeartInstitute does that just mean go on a statin? Like I said I eat extremely healthy and get lots of exercise. Non smoker too.
@@LoriOlson-yr2wr Perhaps. The decision to start meds depends on multiple variables. The overall decision should be made between you and your cardiologist. - Dr. Alexander Postalian
@@TexasHeartInstitute thank ypu
I have a 1964 CAC; im79 yrs old and have high (273) cholesterol. I’m supposed to see a cardio doc on 7/18. AnEKG I had a month ago showed my heart in great shape. So this site is fantastic! I’m learning a lot & I’m less stressed about my “issue”whatever that is. Thanks.
We are so happy that the information we share is helpful!
I just had two ct scans with contrast after going in to the ER with fears of a stroke. They said I didn't have one (I am 48) but to go to a neurologist. I had to wait a bit to get the ct scans and he called me back a few hours later to say that it looks like I may have this. I have an MRI scheduled but I couldn't get in until September so I suppose I may be waiting a bit longer to know anything for sure.
Thanks for this great work. Very informative ❤
Nice presentation. Context is so important concerning FMD. It is a disturbing phenomena. Those with it must take extra lifestyle precautions. Women should assume they have some form of it.
Hi Dr. Michael Tan This is great stuff !
Hi, I want to know.I'm going to go to the doctor i'm not sure what it is Of heart palpitation sometime here in there. Then my heart feel like is stopping and then it goes back to normal. And I don't know if that's a hard skip or not and I'll just concern. If it's not to worry abow because I feel like my heart stopped and hear it comes and goes sometime little bit often. And I just want to know if i'm o k or I need to be checked
Even though the majority of occasional palpitations have a benign reason behind them, the only way to ensure there is no high-risk condition is by being evaluated. - Dr. Alexander Postalian
This is so great! I would love to see you interview THOMAS TADLOCK and his wife DR. BROOKE GOLDER! They are heavy on the science as it pertains to metabolism, cell nourishment, and healing the body!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the great feedback, Tenecia. We will add them to our list for future programs.
For someone who is physically very fit, exercising daily, optimal lipid profile, on statin for over 10 years and no symptoms what so ever, yet a 70% percentile CAC score (665) for his age. Would it be best to schedule a CT angiography given just the high CAC? Also since statins change plaque composition could that be a cause for the high CAC score. Thanks!
"The risk factors for plaque deposition are related to both lifestyle and genetics, not just one. A CT angiography will help determine if there is significant vessel obstruction - However, since we know that fixing blockages is most helpful when the patient has symptoms (such as chest pain or shortness of breath) or is having a heart attack (with objective evidence of heart muscle injury), these studies are mostly pursued only in patients with concerning symptoms. Having said that, it is true that knowing the total plaque burden and plaque composition may be helpful in estimating the level of future risk, but most insurance companies will not pay for testing without a strong compelling reason, and most professional medical guidelines do not strongly recommend it either (yet). Statins may cause soft plaque to calcify, increasing the calcium score but reducing the overall level of risk. Remember that most patients with high calcium scores, before starting statin therapy, have a substantial burden of soft plaque - which is believed to be more dangerous." - Dr. Alexander Postalian
I have been recently diagnosed with SVT and I am status post cardiac ablation. I still have PVCs and PACs and short run of SVTs but nothing like I had before. I have, on a couple of occasions, feel like my heart stops for four or five seconds and I am about to pass out. I actually screamed for help last time. What could this be? I am very aware of my PVCs and PACs and I am confident that it was not that.
Perhaps a rhythm monitor for 2-4 weeks to assess the new problem is a good idea. Make sure you report this new event to your cardiologist. - Dr. Alexander Postalian
Very interesting and useful talk. How helpful would this be for the patients if this HfPef is discovered in time and the symptoms and causes treated accordingly...Thank you very much indeed.
Excellent talk
Can you have a nuclear stress test if you have a leaky valve
"Valvular regurgitation, by itself, is not a typical contraindication for nuclear stress testing." - Alexander Postalian, MD, FSCAI
I’m 70 125, normal lipids with 100 hdl’s but on 20 of crestor for a year. I walk 2+ miles per day and have no co morbidities. My calcium score was 140 last year before I started the crestor a year later it’s 206. It’s my RCA that’s primarily affected. They’re increasing my crestor to 40 and adding aspirin. Should I be considered for a prophylactic stent or more diagnostic angiography?
Stents are mostly to treat symptoms (chest pain, dyspnea on exertion) caused by a significant blockage (which cannot be assessed with a calcium score), or to treat heart attacks as they are occurring. In some situations, they can be used for prevention - however, this is not very common, and a calcium score is not enough to make these decisions. A calcium score is used to decide how aggressive we need to be with lifestyle intervention and the use of preventative medication. Regarding diagnostic angiography: since it is invasive, it is usually reserved for high-risk patients with symptoms, or if we already have a non-invasive study suggesting that a blockage is causing significant problems (again, with symptoms). - Dr. Alexander Postalian The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care (713) 790-9401
Hello Dr. Tan! Sending you warm greetings from the EP lab at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA. Thank you so much for this incredibly informative video❤ Please make more of these, and please include more practice EGMs!

I have a aorta TAVR two years ago is safe to stop plavix
"In most cases, antiplatelet therapy can be de-escalated a few months after the TAVR procedure. However, each case is different, and there are potential reasons why it would be preferrable to continue stronger antiplatelet therapy. This is a decision that is best taken in consultation with a cardiologist that is aware of the details of your case." - Dr. Alexander Postalian
Thank you for replying to my comment. I call my doctor and he approved my stopping 😅 I was having lots of stomach pain. It improved in three days .
As someone born with congenital heart disease. This sounds absolutely amazing.
Nice to see .
What a great man and human… you are my hero sir! You are fighting with big food and big pharma and doing great job for just our lives. Congratulations Sir.
Thank you, dear Dr. Lustig! I'm not a doctor or any other medical worker, but I listened your lecture in this video and many others. They are very informative, educative and truthful, because it works. I practice No fructose, No ethanol, Low carbs, and I feel better in my 65 than I was in my 40es. Although, I still eat fatty steaks. Yes, my LDL is high, triglycerides are very low, and the ratio is just perfect. Thanks again for your hard work, huge respect to you, and professionals just like you! So, there is a hope, that Americans can be much healthier as an individuals and as a nation.❤❤❤
I benefited a lot from your video. Many people like me need such videos. They will benefit a lot if your videos reach them. Would you happen to know how to reach there? If not, I can help you. I look forward to your reply.
Good bless doctor imen for help me cure my heart diseases dr imenherbal on KZread channel
Very useful information!
That is amazing

I haven't run anywhere in over 20 years. My fastest speed is 2.5 to 3 mph on flat ground. I think a stress test would cause me to drop dead. I actually knew somebody that did just that during their test right there in the lab. BOOM! Gone. At age 38.
So scary
My cac score was read as zero. But to me it looked like there was a very tiny calc in the LAD. Did they just miss it? Was it not dense enough or large enough to be counted?
Yes, there is a threshold of intensity for the calcium to be counted. There is also a manual component, which means a bit can be missed. Moreover, depending on the resolution (slice thickness) of the scan - some small areas may not be pictured at all. Nonetheless, the reports are reasonably accurate the vast majority of the time. If you have doubts, ask the imager to have a second look.
@@alexanderpostalian6000 so the radiologist did an addendum….”1mm hyper density is unable to be detected and computed by the software, even when entered manually. Therefore not likely to be of clinical significance “. Does that make sense ?
Thank you a good look to control diabetes. From Colombia
How young or how soon(agewise) should someone get a stress test done? Thanks.
Thank you for your question. Routine stress testing is not necessary in most individuals - as such, there is no specific age cutoff. If a patient is showing signs or symptoms of potential heart issues, particularly if those symptoms are worse with physical activity, then stress testing comes into consideration. -Dr. Alex Postalian
Insulin resistance is NOT the primary offender. It occurs secondarily from excess carbohydrate consumption, chronic stress (with elevated endogenous glucose), and free radical damage to cell walls (insulin receptor damage) and mitochondrial damage. Dietary free radicals come from "healthy" polyunsaturated fats in seed oils. Public health, physicians, Big Pharma, and the food industry have been killing us for decades. Reply
He really is king of ❤. He did surgery on me he was wonderful so lucky to have had him
Highly instructive. Thanks for a great presentation.
Recently diagnosed and getting mixed information on if I can swim.. Is cold water 79 degrees a no? I understand I shouldn’t do free stye
Why is it so difficult for the Carb-Insulin Model to be widely adopted and replace the obviously flawed Energy Balance Model which(EBM) has caused the obesity epidemic?
People have a need to hate fat people.
how long can you take it plavix for ever?
"There is no limit to how long a patient can take Plavix (clopidogrel). The ideal length of therapy (limited or lifelong) depends on the specific situation.” - Dr. Alex Postalian
