    I have this very Viper, bought it in Alexandria, MN and drove it 1300 miles home to MD in the rain. Was comfortable and warm but I was afraid of the wet highway and the 20 yo tires. Made it fine.

    Ehhh idk man I got stock suspension on my 93 z28 and that mf handles corners pretty well actually thinking about setting it up for some corners or drifting it really no point of having it set up for corners when I got a Honda I'm already building for that but she can definitely take corners turn it feels nice not bad at all

    I drove a "94" for 17 years. LT1 is a great engine. I put some money in it but I loved it. I sold it last year. It had 341,000 miles on it. Leaked oil but never burned any. Great body style! Aerodynamic. Cut through the wind.

    About to buy a new car. And a viper exactly like this except it’s red. But just want to know since you own one. Is it fast? Can it compete against Camaros from this year or and sports car? I’ve driven many exotic cars and been to speeds 160+ street racing with other people. Is the viper good for street racing going through traffic? Cause I know it has no traction control so to me I think it would lose control… you tell me. You’re the one who owns it. Also do you think it can get tuned to 1000+ Hp?

  • @tommyjeanstrue
    @tommyjeanstrue Жыл бұрын

    Honestly it really depends what you are racing. Check out my youtube channel for answers to most of these questions. This car is very capable and still holds its own. Electric cars and anything with more hp will do what you expect them to do against it, however there is a full supercharger kit available from Paxton to take you close to that 1000hp goal. These engines are extremely durable and hold boost well, you can expect good riliability over 800whp from the stock block. Again check out my channel for some really great races. Good luck in your decision! 👍

    Many believe that the heart of this beast is a Lamborghini design, which is not true. This is a 2v per cylinder traditional pushrod with 10 cylinders. This design is based off of chryslers la engine design. Chrysler/Dodge sent the iron block engine to have it aluminum casted by Lamborghini, but the design remained American. I think Chrysler/Dodge sent the car to Lamborghini for casting because it was CHEAPER than figuring out the engineering of the casting themselves. Pushrod engines are reliable, especially these. They are cheap to maintain and parts are still available. The internals are fairly strong, but not forged. They produce a lot of power under low boost when supercharged because of the compression ratio, but 800hp is about the limit. The Viper is expensive to modify, but it's very reliable even when modified. The Viper is a beast and a very special car.

  • @tommyjeanstrue
    @tommyjeanstrue Жыл бұрын

    All true. The iron block v10 was a truck engine recast by Lamborghini because Chrysler owned them at the time. Talk about delegation at its best. You are correct the internals were not forged, but pushrod design isn't complicated and extremely reliable. One of the reasons Chevrolet continued using 2 valves per cylinder for so long in the most used engine swap LSX engines.

    We bought our Zee in 1998 and it has been an incredible daily driver. If you wanted a cruiser then go and buy one. This is a performance car. My wife (it's her car) bought this car for performance driving. She is now 82 yeas old in 2022, the back seats are UNCOMFORTABLE!!, the passenger seat is UNCOMFORTABLE! This is a DRIVERS CAR!!! WE LOVE THIS CAR!!! Ours is black with grey leather interior, and every option that you could order on a 1998 Z28 Camaro! And YES!! it has a 6-speed! We have a shit load of grandkids who have NEVER ridden in the back seat! Oh! Bye the way, her other car is a Z3 BMW. She is the "Grandma that everyone wished that they had!" THANK GOD!! FOR Z28s!!!!

    What’s odd is they make a sh_t ton of Corvettes; however, they hold their resale value. Vipers & Jeep Wranglers hold their resale value as well but it just seems odd that the Wrangler & Corvette resale value is so high considering how many there are to choose from homie

  • @tommyjeanstrue
    @tommyjeanstrue Жыл бұрын

    True, corvettes do a great job of holding their value. Better then any other Chevrolet. However I did cross shop both Corvettes and Vipers when I originally bought mine. At the time in 2015 you could buy a 2007 z06 for the same price as my 2004 Viper. As of today the value for my Viper has gone up $20k and would be comparable in price to a 2014 corvette Sting Ray. I wish I had more time to drive it and mod it more than I did, but marriage, house, and kid put the kabosh to that. I'm hoping to hand it down to my son though when he's old enough. Actually these cars even in previous form were some of the best handling cars of their era. Many people mistakenly say what you did. What you were referring too is having too much power to use in a curve. Which lends itself to throttle control not actual handling. Still the aftermarket has so many upgrades to modernize these cars in various ways. Still nice video though

    Honestly you would be surprised how low maintenance these cars are. Over 13 years I changed the oil every 3000 miles and spark plugs every 50000 miles. In that time I had to replace the water pump and alternator. If you are good to it. It will be dead reliable to you. I did have to repair the rear end twice however as the 10 inch can't handle the torque the car has. Was mostly my fault for doing burn outs all the time though. I have a friend with 700whp on the stock rear, so its all how you drive. Good luck!

    Bean counters ruined the OEM suspension unless you opted for the 1le RPO code. Get some good 200TW tires (BFG Rival S 1.5 or Yokohama A052) and a suspension upgrade from Stranoparts and it'll be night and day different for the better. For anything other than repeated high speed stops, stock brakes are fine. The only cup holder I use is near the ash tray... the others don't hold cups well in my experience. My most recent mtc issues are a failed abs module, a code that says both of my airbags suddenly died (I question that diagnosis), and tilt pin mania.
