RANGE ROVER IRELAND

Current project is a 2000 Range Rover P38 2.5 manual which is in the process of being converted to a 3.0 bmw M57N engine coupled to a GS6X53DZ 6 speed manual gearbox.
For full start to finish on this project check out the vehicles Instagram page “RangeRoverP38IRL”.
All videos of the engine conversion will be posted to this channel as the conversion progresses and will be numbered so that others who may want to do a similar swap have a guide or some sort of reference as to what’s involved etc.

    Why the heck didn't land Rover use the m57 in the first place. Think of the mods and upgrades that would have been achieved if the P38 was factory built with the m57 and stronger drive train to take it. I think the P38 is the best looking Range, we've got one still with the m51 stock, manual, with 220k on the clock. Love it.

    Aha, that beeping, could you tell me what that is? My P38 does it but at really slow speeds, probably because it needs resetting after being abandoned for years and a lot of components have worn down and need replacing, but the darn dash is Dutch and I can't read it yet. May I ask for some insight? Also sounds like the engine conversion went well, love seeing a P38 running again!

  • @tompage
    @tompage2 ай бұрын

    That beeping is a speed warning on the dash. The P38 came with the ability to set an audible speed warning that would beep if you went over a set speed. You can change the speed warning limit by pressing the top button on the stalk. It’s annoying so I turned it off with a nanocom

    @@tompage Many thanks for the info! When I get my Nano I should be able to resolve most of the issues. Mine is set annoyingly low...

  • @tompage
    @tompage2 ай бұрын

    @apollogenerator9837 well you can set it to a higher speed by pressing the button on the stalk without any nano, just keep pressing the button and you’ll see the speed alarm value increase up to 120km per hour and at least then it won’t be annoying you at low speed.

  • @apollogenerator9837
    @apollogenerator98372 ай бұрын

    @@tompage Hmm, I shall have a look at that tomorrow, is it the little back and forth rocker on the indicator stalk? A lot of markings have worn off on mine. But if i can make that beeping disappear it would be lovely.

    I'm debating whether to do this swap as well sometime. I have the 2.5TD automatic but it seems to be having trouble moving with a proper punch, but it has been abandoned for a long time. Im currently bringing it back to life. Hopefully it sorts itself, but i doubt it.

    Had the same on mine, cable didn't break it was old and would not always allow the mechanism to reset properly, when opened from inside, worked out if you put the window fully down and with a long metal rod, I could reach down and send home the sticking arm on the actuator, new cable sorted the problem. Though I also replaced the actuator at some point, as the central locking would just engage at random times, it was the drives side causing the issue, the tailgate takes an ground from this actuator, so if it plays up you're locked out of the boot.

  • @chrisgreenwood271

    I noted these as potential problems when I bought mine over four years ago, caused by water leaks from the roof, the windscreen, the plastic runners on the roof, plus water getting in via the scuttle panel and the plates around the wiper position. it took a long time to find and cure each leak, I could see water was findings its way and dripping on these connectors, leaving wet carpets, someone had been there before and pushed vaseline into all the connections, this must have helped the situation, never had any more issues to press and dry carpets to boot.
