My great great grandfather, for whom I’m named, fought throughout the civil war with the 7th. He was mustered out after the war and thus missed the Little Big Horn. I love watching your videos because I’m sure grandpa would have known some of the men at the Little Big Horn. On one hand it’s history and on another it’s my history.

This, as well as all your videos, is fantastic. Detailed, without being overly so, and to the point. No excess talk and solid research, which I appreciate greatly. It is jarring when folks, even military, use "calvary" in place of "cavalry." The former being the place of Jesus' death and the latter a mounted soldier. I mean no disrespect, and though quite common, I don't believe the two words are interchangeable. Please keep up the great work. Thanks

Supposedly, LT Harrington's remains were found far north of last stand hill. Indian survivors reported a brave soldier on a fast horse escaping last stand hill and being persued by several warriors. A skull was found and returned for reconstruction and used for identification of Harrington in the 2000s.

Depends upon whether the Hall (or whatever his name was) thought he would be punished for desersion (which he may have been guilty of). If you were a deserter and wanted to disappear , maybe you would use the alias of a fellow soldier you served with and knew such things as date and place of birth so others would not question his identity. So he used the name of a fellow soldier Finklestein

The whole area was gone over by archeologists and none were found. They were possibly take to the Indian village and killed or burned. I’ve heard of reports of bones and heads and burned uniforms found there.

Regarding “Finkel/Hall” it should be further investigated but is there any data to prove or disprove the story? It’s certainly a very interesting mystery!

I wouldn't be a fan of disturbing a resting soul/body. However, I would bet a large amount of money that the erosion and time has placed way more material in the bottom of that gulch/Gulley/ravine. I'm positive that the soldiers have large deposits above them. Without disturbing the soil why not employ or have someone offer their skills in g.p.r ., ground penetrative radar. That will help with burial plots and non evasive disturbance of the area.

He had many buckskin shirts taken of the dead body’s at Wounded knee I’m just sorry I did not know the real history and my English was not all to great I wish I could pick him out of the picture where the body’s were being buried all I remember there were 3 soldiers standing close together

Days after the battle Benteen was able to find all the officers with Custer except Harrington Sturgis and Lord : Dr Lord was a friend of Benteen's and could have been the officer referred to by Two Moons as having led the breakout to Deep Ravine and whose body the chief viewed there after the battle.

I have always lissoned to the media, calling it a massacre. Did they themselves go to the Indian camp to do just that massacre men, women, and children . Interesting what they would have called it the other way around.

the markers are a nightmare....I remember being at the battlefield and having a park ranger tell me that a marker for a killed warrior south of the Reno Benteen site was actually placed close to the path, RATHER THAN WHERE THE WARRIOR DIED, so that people could "see it"....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! THIS is what passes for "history" with the people who run that battlefielde!?!?

  • @manuelkong10

custer received WEAK "orders" at best....BUT this is not a "EITHER, OR" situation, this is a "BOTH" situation....Terry's orders were bad BUT custer didn't treat ANY of Terry's orders AS ORDERS. Few mention Tullocks Creek which custer was supposed to scout (a main purpose of cavalry) and send word to Gibbon as to what was found there....he blew that off entirely.... Because custer was NOT worried about the plains Indians escaping, he was worried about somebody else finding the Indians first or that there would be a battle where Terry or Gibbon's troops were involved AND THE BATTLE WOULD CREDITED TO THEM AS THE RANKING OFFICERS ON THE BATTLEFIELD. Anybody, custer included, who was "worried" about the Indians getting away would Not make the decisions or take the actions custer did...IT'S HIS ACTIONS THAT GIVE AWAY TO THE INDIANS THE ARMY'S PRESENCE IN THE AREA. If he had CONTINUED SOUTH TO THE HEAD WATERS AS ORDERED BY TERRY and then crossed west to the Big Horn, he would have been approaching the Indian camp from dead south CHASING THEM NORTH INTO BOTH GIBBON'S AND TERRY'S COLUMNS AND INTO A FIGHT THEY COULD NOT HAVE WON. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT CUSTER DID NOT WANT. HE HAD to hit the camp, on his own and win the big victory alone for it to be his. CUSTER'S ACTIONS could have caused the scattering of the camp which is the exact situation they all claimed to be trying to avoid. NOBODY thought it possible for a US Cav regiment to be defeated by plains warriors. The army's experience with the plains indians had often consisted of charging into a sleeping camp in the dead of winter and shooting people as they emerged from their tipis. ....this time they were wrong and it was brought about by custer himself
