    Sailed her in May 1990. 35 years later we will be on the ICON (RCCL) which hold 3 times the passengers. Comments on the midnight buffets reminded me we would get up just to go see all the 'food artwork' they would do. And airfare was included and they would even pick you up at the airport. We even flew in the day of the sailing. Wouldn't try that now. Cruising has changed a lot, but that ship was fun to be on, and beautiful.

    Yes, we did the Pirate snorkel cruise tour out of Cabo. It was actually quite nice with an open bar, some okay food and they put on a corny show which we loved. At Puerto Vallarta we did an all day snorkel/beach tour also with an open bar and great sandwiches you made yourself. Went to two different beaches which were both nice and they had an optional hike. They also put on a corny show and we loved that one also....but it could be the booze talking? Overall a very, very nice time. Thanks for watching!

    It is in fact more normal for the train to depart Oslo from track 3, and for car 1 with the more expensive "pluss" seats to face the terminal, so the passengers in this car have the shortest walk both to and from the train. 😊 The train would then go directly into the tunnel underneath the station and all of Oslo, before emerging on the other side, stopping at stations Sandvika, Asker and Drammen before reaching Hønefoss. That your train faced the other way, means that it took the more northern route to Hønefoss, probably because of work on the railway line. It's usually a good idea to check the seating orientation on the ticket app. At the end of the car, you may find that two seats are facing opposite from the movement of the car, and you will sit facing two other passengers for the duration of the journey. I don't usually have a problem placing my luggage, but the porter service was interesting. Oh yes. Sadly, the Wi-Fi is totally unreliable. Even if you do get a connection, it's sluggish at best, it won't work inside the tunnels of which, as you noticed, there are a lot. West of Finse you can only expect connection at the stations. It clearly depends on a cell phone connection. I don't expect this to change even if they do get better routers on the train.

  • @patsadventures6381
    @patsadventures638112 күн бұрын

    I loved using the porter service which makes the holiday even easier. I never really expected wi-fi and was looking forward to the sight seeing which was just great. Thanks for the additional information about the seating!

    We’ve enjoyed our cruises with Viking. Best thing for me was the Nordic spa. I could sit in the spa all day… love the living room area with the coffees / snacks and drinks. Loved all the books. Food was generally good but as a vegetarian I found it fairly limited at times. And sometimes the things that were provided were so pedestrian that I just wondered why they even bothered. We ate at Manfreds a number of times over the month, and were disappointed that the menu never changed. Especially limiting for me. The chefs table. … when I booked and rechecked twice confirming the restaurant knew I was vegetarian… when I got there, the waiter was aghast, and did not know quite what to do with me. He said I’ll see what the Chef can do for you, and I got exactly what I’ve had the night before in Manfredi‘s restaurant, it was plated differently but I know it was exactly the same thing. I was pretty disappointed because i went to the effort to ask everybody if they were aware that I was vegetarian. Another thing that did not exactly thrill Me was the music in the living room area. We had a pianist that quite often played out of tune, and two violinist, that to me sounded like cats screaming. I like a bit of classical music but not 24 /7 down there. We’re all a bit older, but that doesn’t mean we all like classical -it’s not as if we not cultured as someone said to me. I’m nearly 70 and I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin Deep Purple and Elton John other bands and soloists that have nice music that could’ve been played to mix it up a little bit…. I did make a Comment to this effect.and the pianist played a lovely version of Tiny Dancer by Elton John. And she got the loudest applause in the month that I was there. There are plenty of soft contemporary rock songs that could be played down there as well. There was a soloist up on the explorer lounge but quite honestly, I didn’t like his voice. Our cruise director was a huge fan of musical theatre and used to be a singer in musical theatre and used every opportunity to inject himself into the shows. And all the shows were basically theatre songs. I don’t think I lasted one whole show. 🤷‍♀️ You may think I didn’t like the cruise but you’d be wrong. I loved it. Great organisation, good excursions. , beautiful ship. Very comfy cabins. There did seem to be a predominance of one nationality… sometimes I noticed that they could be quite abrupt with staff. Also noticed they love to talk about their education and where they did their studying and how far they’ve got with their PhD and everything to do with education. They love to say how many times they’d been on the cruise line. But I basically just ignored that. I’ve just booked another Viking cruise due to the itinerary… but am concerned about the large amount of sea days. But I’ll just have to read or catch up on the movies. I know I wasn’t the only person onboard that had some issues on our last trip. I’m sure Viking can do abit better in just a few things. But I think it’s value for money and a beautiful way to travel

  • @patsadventures6381

    My mother was and my sister is a vegetarian and I have been with them at restaurants and know it is difficult to get good vegetarian dishes. With that being said, it sounded like you enjoyed the cruise overall. I know what you mean about the violins in the Living Room area. Same with the piano sometimes. I remember we were sailing around Christmas and I asked the woman on piano if she would play some holiday music. She refused. It was quite strange but I just blew it off. Anyway, thanks for watching and giving an in depth comment! Take care.

    Great video. We went on a European river cruise in May and loved it and are now planning an Alaska cruise. We were going to go with Holland America but now will look into Viking, too. We like boring. 😂 We took a 4 day cruise with a 4000 passenger ship and although we didn’t hate it as it was a family reunion, we didn’t use any of the over the top additions , didn’t buy the photos and were ticked that no drinks were included with dinner. Everything was an additional cost.

I have not been on Carnival in over 20 years and am not looking forward to the waiters dancing in the dining room every night but what the heck. I will check it out and make a good honest review of the ship that will be posted on my channel! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    We sailed this ship after it's hay day. It was run down dirty and was sad. Soon after they filmed an A-Team episode using the ship and then taken out of service. We had fun at the excursions but would never go back to Carnival over it. When we arrived our state room still had last weeks dirty sheets on the bed. All of the flat surfaces in hallways had 1/4" dust on them. Our dinner waiter needed a shower or clean clothes. My only bad cruise experience ever.
