For one they don't give council properties to people who haven't even requested one, and two - there are desperate families on the waiting list for years, living in dire conditions who still can't get one. But they think you'll be 'given' one in a year - strange logic.

Oh no I have central heating through the flat 😝 but like to have a free standing one as well for days I don’t want to put on the full system. I’ve lived in a place that had rubbish central heating so always had my free standing heater for emergencies.

Flat is okay but bathroom and kitchen sharing is not for everyone😢I could possible manage sharing a kitchen, but defiitely not the bathroom. I encouraged my daughter to stay home and save her deposit so she doesn't have to rent. Appreciate not everyone can do that. I would great struggle with the lack of privacy in a home share😢

I've typically had an ensuite when in shared accommodation but when moving to London I just couldn't justify the cost. I think at one stage I'd love to live on my own but for now this works for me. I would 100% encourage your daughter to stay at home as long as possible - Rent in London is wild.

@@estherbatu I was in a crossroads to be honest with you. London has a lot of opportunities but having a good quality of life is one of my top priorities and that's something the city is lacking imo. I was also not getting any value for money especially since I was living on my own. Unfortunately London forces you to live like a student for longer than expected and personally I couldn't do that any longer. I'm Spanish so I decided to come back home and have a summer break. I feel like I'm not done with the UK yet but if I am to go back I would probably choose a smaller/"cheaper" city. This not one size fits all though, some people do enjoy the hustle and bustle and are fine with sharing (especially if you live with friends/people you get on with). I guess it's a matter of priorities or what stage you're in your life. Sorry for the brick 😂

Summer in Spain that sounds like a dream. I’ve lived in lots of areas in the UK and London definitely feels like the least value for money. I’ve heard good things about our Manchester so I have my eye on it🫣
