Just adopted a 4 yr old that the foster says is a flat coat retriever, though adoption website says mixed breed. He looks just like one. Am hoping he’s not a “nightmare” to train as said here in the video as he’s been a stray then fostered and not walked for many months. Here’s hoping!

Marlowe is as stubborn as any TT ever born. When we first got him he used to jump up on the bed at night, and I loved that. But one day I said "Marlowe! Bed! Jump!" and from that day onwards he never did it again. He hates to be left alone in the house for even five minutes,. so my wife and I have to go separately to the cinema if we can't find someone to look after him. (For some reason, we can leave him alone in the car. He is quite happy when we take him shopping.) He loves to be with us, even if all he is doing is sleeping on the floor at our feet (which is what he is going now). TTs have a way of cocking their heads sideways to look at you when you talk to them in a way that makes you swear that they are listing to every word, and understanding it. I don’t know if all TTs are like this, but he takes everything in his stride. If an aggressive dog rushes up to him barking, Marlowe looks at him as though to say “Oh look! A barking dog!” He never gets aggressive, he is so patient, and he loves going to the vet. He sits patiently while the vet sticks things up his bottom, or injects him, or peers down his throat. He is the most Zen dog imaginable. Whenever I have discussed him with other TT owners, they all say that he is very typical. So like everyone else here is saying, if you don’t mind a dog that you can’t leave alone for more than five minutes at a time, you couldn’t find a lovelier breed.

I got my TT 13 years ago as a rescue (fair play to the original owner who surrounded the "designer" 8 month pup in favour of her older Jack Russell.) That TT changed my life, he's my favourite little man, and now I know we're on borrowed time, I indulge his every whim. I dread the void he'll leave. I can't ever imagine another dog, or even a human filling that void. And I'm not prepared to pay $2500 for a TT pup, who's likely to come from a puppy mill :/

My 110 pound German shepherd was acting like he had rabies or something. He was rolling his head towards the ground back and forth showing his teeth and I was kind of afraid to get to close if he bit me. I was not scared of the bite but was very scared of rabies. Well we were watching him and my wife said it looks like there is something on the roof of his mouth. Once I saw that I immediately opened his mouth and took a big piece of raw hide that covered the whole top of his mouth. That was years ago. But from then on I never gave my dogs rawhide. Because if he would have swallowed the piece he would have choked to death if someone wasn’t around. Man did I feel bad not going right into his mouth. I was so afraid of rabies. If it’s me or the dog. Sorry but the dog has to be the one to go. I’m here now looking up about putting a stethoscope from my garage to check his throat. His bark has turned squeaky and when he eats then drinks water he puts his head straight up and licks the air for a minute or two. I can’t see anything but I do have the tool to look down his throat. Just looking at how to do it and risks involved.

Pulling hair from the ear canal is an outdated tradition. Dermatologists around the world agree that hair in the ears is NOT a cause of ear infections. Pulling out hair results in folliculitis and ear infections. In the Netherlands, the professional association of veterinarians (KNMVD) has had official guidelines since 2015. Hair plucking is only permitted by the veterinarian who wants to look in the ear: otoscopy. Paraveterinarians and groomers are not allowed to do this.

Our springer spaniel is now five years old and has a daily walk on a forest track used fairly often by cyclists and other walkers, occasionally motor bikes and cars. He is fine with other pedestrians although putting him on his lead can make him more likely to lunge towards them and bark. Off the lead, I have seen him ignore a family of cyclists going by, but more often than not if they pass me on the track, he can sense my 'stress' as I fear what he is going to do, and he can follow and jump up at them. If I put him on the lead he waits until the moment they are passing and then hurls himself at them while I have to hold him back. What I don't know is: 1. Whether this is a stress problem. I read he could be 'defending' his master and sees them as a threat. 2. Whether he is actually better off the lead and I ignore the cyclists and take him off the track and play with him. 3. Whether the talk and treat method in your video would work. He seems more interested in the novelty of the cyclists or car than in food at the time. 4. Why it is that he sometimes ignores cyclists and other times chases them. Sometimes they move too fast and kick out at him when he jumps that makes him worse. Putting a springer on a lead when he needs hours of exercise a day is not my preference, but despite all our attempts to accustom him to bikes and vehicles he seems to be getting no better. I will try the treats method and see if that helps.

My Collie pup isn't as bad as this but she went from not being bothered by cars at all to around 8 months old suddenly being excited by cars and now almost a year old she lunges at most cars, not lorries or buses though and she won't chase any other animals even cats unless they move away quickly. I think a big part is her main walk is around 35-45 minutes a day (she gets multiple 10-30 minute walks around field when she needs to do her business so still 2-3 hours per day shes out) so shes not worn out enough as the times I take her to a dogsitter (who has multiple dogs and takes them on 2 long walks a day) and she spends her day playing shes so worn out by time I get her home nothing interests her, can walk past a busy road and shes not bothered, can offer to take her out for another walk and she just wants to sleep.

Poor lady :( When you buy a bigger dog proper training is a MUST. Boarder collies are THE MOST inteligent dogs and super fast to train, but you have to train them actually and not to expect that dog will train itself :)))

I've had 5 beautiful cavaliers. 2 of my furbabies are in heaven now. I also have a 12 year old(very healthy) and another 13 year old that unfortunately now has acquired a heart murmur, so we don't know how much time we have left with her. Every second is precious. We also , as of 3 weeks ago, introduced a ruby cavalier to our home. I'm besotted with her. It was love at first sight. Cavaliers are THE only dog for me. They are perfect in every way. 😍

As a long time owner of Whippets (up to 4 at a time) it grieves me to hear people say they are a sighthound, they are much more than that. This takes away the other exceptional qualities they have. Countless times in wooded areas I have seen them scent the air to detect the presence of something. Their ears start to work like radar aerials and despite background noises (a stream, rustling leaves etc.) they home in on the location until their sight finds the bird/animal. Don't sell them short by saying they are just sighthounds.

Every one of my dogs from the time I've brought them home, have chewed on me. Every one of them have cut their teeth on my hand. This is not a bad thing, it is in fact a good thing. Dogs bite each other when playing, so when you allow your dog to chew on you, you create a bond with them. This also teaches them how hard they can bite, without hurting you. My dog constantly has my hand, wrist, elbow, toes in his mouth. Remember you have a hand, a dog has a mouth.

My advice for Chihuahua and other small breed dog owners is to litter train your dog, in which is much easier and faster to do. As you don't have to worry about whether it is snowing, raining, too hot, or too cold outside, and about dedicating the time to let them out. You won't have to worry about leaving your dog at home alone for an extended period of time. Lastly, because my Chihuahua never leaves my home, I don't use poisonous flea and tick solutions or heart work pills. All of which are harmful for your dog. I also don't have to worry about my tiny Chihuahua being attacked by a bigger dog outside either.

She wants to round the sheep up but expected to walk to heal and do nothing … always research your dog and be prepared for it to be the most important thing other than family and work that requires tons of your attention and you need to become a competent dog trainer . Your gonna need it for a working dog to be happy or else ? Or else this!! And vets bills coming out your 🍩 or a dead dog one the other or both . This lady has no interest or idea in training a puppy or a dog .
