small tiling really? what are you working on a mac book? would you still use small tiling if you have a monster rig? whats the point of small tiling?

Love your video and your contributions to the blender community, thank you so much Lyke!. I would like to say though, although these modelling tutorials are great, from an architecture perspective, it can be a really slow process that will cost hours and money. I would suggest that any user that knows how to use 3d modelling softwares for architecture like revit or sketchup should do modelling there as they are optimised and more accurate for such things. This can save a ton of hours or even days modelling, depending on the complexity of the project. I would then bring it into blender to render or to fine tune other necessary details. Cheers

Noone using fillets on tubes. It increases costs and tubes supposed to be cheap. Maybe chamfers for a premium tubes on outer edges. And hell no chance it would be machined nicely inside.

🐔 I recently started using ToOptimize Tool, which is a super cheap addon which can do things like run a quick material benchmark of the scene to find how much memory each material is using. This let's me quickly find if any materials I imported are heavy and slowing my scene down, and need to be baked instead.

Sorry, but I don't get it. The finished product you say "looks beautiful" in fact looks like "fake digital crap" to me. Yes, it appears "smooooooth" but, IMHO, that's why it looks fake. If there is an 'uncanny valley' for mechanical parts, I submit that you've revealed its location. Anyway I'm still giving you a thumbs up. Because I suppose the disconnect has to do with my interpretation of beauty.

As someone who spent the last 20 years using Solidworks for manufacturing, it's still insane to me that in 2024 there isn't a CAD package that is accurate AND can produce ideal topology. Watching you eyeball those edge creases makes me sweat.

I've been a 3D modeler for 10-15 years and whenever I've made intersecting pipes, tree branches, tunnels and other similar cylindrical complex shapes, I've used exactly this type of subdivision techniques. This has always been an additional, often unnecessary perfectionism that has even slowed down the workflow :) However, if you are going to lose your job because of this, you should work on some project for oil or gas transmission design technical installations with CAD software.

It's good for vanilla workflow, but this would be pain if pipes are at an angle, or for example if another pipe needs to be higher resolution. I tend to use Mesh Machine boolean workflow along with QuadRemesher, and it gives me great low poly topology model with 95% perfect shading which SubD flawlesly. But I discourage people from using addons if they do not know to do it the hard vanilla way. Once you can do and understand topology and edgeflow, then you can speed the way with plugin.

I used to have my students make pipes and a few other difficult objects like these starting from a single vertex as an unofficial final exam component. It was really just a fun way to show them how much they had learned after a few months, but it was still a great exercise

I dont know if you read comments, but why can't you do it with Spin? At 5:32 and and 8:30, I see some topologies issues with joining two pipes, nothing you can't fix tho, but with 3 pipes Spin just skips the whole Sphere thing and arrives at the same mesh Actually it's the same mesh with two green pipes, so no problems there

Hi, I'm Demi. I saw your tutorial on KZread, and I noticed that I could pay for yearly access to your course. However, when I visited the site, I couldn't find an option for the yearly access. I would be grateful if you could help me with the yearly access, as that's what I can afford at the moment. Thank you.
