    I was going to get the brown Gorals, but my wife convinced me to get white ones, which would normally be totally out of my comfort zone, but they are actually great. They fit like a glove, and as I have a wide foot, they also make a wide fitting. They break in nicely, too.

    What you say about impulse purchases makes so much sense to me. Nearly my favorite pieces I’ve found were buys that I saw something and bought it within minutes. People who are in touch with their style may actually benefit from an impulse buy. When you know, you know!

    This is really great advice. I think my struggle is that I like a wide range of stuff and it doesn’t always mix and match well so I end up buying extra items to make those items “work”. But maybe I should make up my own styling rules rather than making myself look acceptable by society’s standards. Some work for me to do!

  • @Teverell
    @Teverell20 күн бұрын

    A cohesive colour palette works wonders - if your clothing works well with the other things based on colour, you can mix and match items far easier than otherwise.

    I think the best start into slow fashion is learning to mend! Its not super expensive. And its better to make beginner mending mistakes on the old impulse buys fast fashion that something you have invested alot into 😅 edit: want to add learning to dye/ embroydery over stains it have saved me alot of money.

    I stumbled across this video after watching the Rose Anvil Goral white sneaker cut-in-half video - - I've had many other brands of leather sneakers, and just purchased the Goral - The Boulsover - Bonaventura Odyssey Brown Sneakers as this video and Rose Anvil's video confirmed quality of these leather shoes/sneakers.

    Camera bags are generally a synthetic fibre plastic nightmare. I've never found one I like in good natural fabrics. I now just put a camera cube, or wrap the camera in a beanie or scarf for some protection in a bag I already have. Camera bags are a tricky equation I find.

    A late question, I know, but hopefully you'll see this! I'm considering getting the same Gorals as you (so yes, the colour you chose is ace), but wanted to get your thoughts on comfort, especially when walking around all day. I usually wear leather shoes (rather than sneakers) and boots, and while these are great for everyday use, they suck for walking around all day as I discovered recently.

  • @sambinstead6611
    @sambinstead6611 Жыл бұрын

    I’ve been wearing these multiple times a week for 18 months now and they’re really comfortable! If anything they’re more comfortable now they’re properly worn in. They’re obviously not as comfy as a squishy synthetic alternative but if you’re coming from boots and dress shoes I think you’re in for a treat.

    hi Sam - any advice for men's underwear and socks? (hopefully stuff that isn't too expensive and doesn't look awful after five washes) - I don't really fancy the 'sweatshop' option from the likes of Tesco, Asda etc or paying through the nose for several pairs of (also sweatshop) 'snazzy' Pierre Cardin boxer shorts from TK Maxx, thanks Roland.

    Hey!! I’m obsessed with the mohair socks oaken shop sell, and recently discovered rock and Ruby making socks in the UK. Underwear wise I’m a big fan of Pico’s boxers, and rozenbroek have a really great selection! definitely not cheap but I’ve found them to be cheaper than ‘luxury’ brands like you mention that are the same cheap supermarket stuff with a different label in. And they’ve held up extremely well through the wash etc. Hope that helps! Sam

    Sam - where on earth did you find MHL and Margaret Howell clothing so cheaply? (it really holds its value on EBay etc). Great channel by the way! - would you consider doing anything on French workwear stuff: Armor-Lux, Arpenteur, Saint-James etc?

    I think it’s a case of right place right time! Especially using the other tricks like buying at the wrong time of year when there’s less competition for particular items :) but the deals are there to be had! And thank you! Not brands I have much on, although they make some absolutely classic products! We did make a pair of shoes out of an old French workwear jacket on another channel I’m involved with ;) search ‘will it shoe’, you might enjoy that one!

    I can’t see why it would? The cotton bag I tested it on didn’t change in appearance and I’m sure I’ve seen white shoes in attirecares marketing!! Obviously I can’t conclusively say though, so maybe best to do a small, subtle test patch on the shoe if you’re not sure before doing the whole thing :)

    Your content is super interesting. I always thought I was a fast fashion consumer, and I definitely have bought most of my clothing from unethical stores - gross. I’ve come to realise the value in clothing and I’ve begun ordering more handmade dresses from local Australian businesses etc. I feel bad every time I toss an item of clothing out but it’s usually been repaired 50x over or it’s just holey undies 🤣 I put some clothing up for give away today that I purchased in 2012 😂 uh, I guess that’s a bonus… anyway, here’s to slow fashion & education I’ve also been knitting & crocheting my own clothing, so that’s a huge bonus as well

    Found you through RoseAnvil via Goral. I actually didn’t know what fast fashion was before, but I’m glad to know! I am slowly upgrading my clothes as I outgrow and wear them out. It is so true that the companies that make the best quality clothing, also are often the most sustainable. Would you be able to make a video overviewing slow fashion brands that you like? I honestly have pretty much always shopped second hand due to money, but knowing some good brands (and being able to search for them on ebay) would be sweet my man. Thanks for doing you! ps.
