Yeah, we can definitely see by running the hilux, you have to be careful of your weights . As far as the bunk mod goes , there's a bit of cutting and shutting involved I've got a cabinetmaking background so it was no worries for me, its not for the timmed because you do have to cut into you bunk and replace a couple items when it goes back together if you decide to go back to a double bunk .

@@OverweightandunderpoweredWe've a new Jayco Journey 16.7 Touring PopTop, I don't travel with any water as we only stay at parks. Do you guys find any difference towing with full or empty water tanks. Towing with a new Paj Sport Exceed which does the job well, usually run about 14ltr per 100km. We do travel pretty light know where near our total weights. I guess I'm just checking how your van tows with water. Jesus that was harder that I thought that question 😅
@Overweightandunderpowered11 күн бұрын
@brentonl1746 Oh yeah, we definitely noticed a difference between tugging full tanks compared to empty . When we first got the van on the first day, we travelled with full tanks and definitely felt the weight more .the second day, we travelled with empty tanks, which felt way lighter and dropped the litres per 100 down and easier to tow, but we had perfect conditions, im Gunnar say when wind is a factor it's worth filling the tanks to keep the centre of gravity low so the wind doesn't push you around as much but we look forward to more adventures to test that theroy .🤙👍
@MADMICK111 күн бұрын
@brentonl1746 Hi mate yeah bit of difference with extra water weight she's heavy either way i also think the wind might be a factor empty .So far, we've been much the same minimal gear and going to parks with no water on board but looking forward to trying out a bit of off grid so we'll see how we go cheers .. does the wind push you around a bit in the Pajero
@brentonl174610 күн бұрын
No, we've done Tassie Mountains in the Paj Sport with no problems again not carrying any water and still got good fuel numbers. We've also done Adel to Vic High Country then up to Katoomba and back along the Plains never had any issues with wind pushing us around very stable. We average about 14ltr per 100km, was concerned that the Paj might be under powered but after Tassie we kept up with everyone else we travelled with we just rocked up 5 mins after them.

Good job setting up your rig. The only thing that I disagree with a little, is the insurance companies will reject your claim if you are overweight anywhere on your rig and you have an accident. Not saying you should deliberately go way overweight, but ever heard of an insurance company going to an accident site and weighing all the debris. A recent KZread video about a couple who were involved in a bad accident, their 7 day old caravan was written off and the insurance company didn't even ask a question about weight at all, was not brought up at all.
@Overweightandunderpowered12 күн бұрын
Yeah, there is many factors involved, when it comes to weights and insurance. Our car and van are a big investment for us so right or wrong we're definitely not willing to take the risk . Thanks for watching cheers 👍🍻
@markandkim6611 күн бұрын
Not quite true. A friend of mine started out on his 12 month lap in his BT50 and 22ft van. Didn’t even make 1 month into his trip when he was involved in an accident. Van rolled which in turn tipped his ute over. No injuries, but both written off, the insurance company weighed what was left, and declined his claim due to both van and ute being overweight. Morale of the story, professionally weigh your set up, make it legal, and more importantly, safe. We all put lots of dollars into our travels, but then decided not to be safe and legal. We all see it, cars/utes overloaded towing huge vans down the highway without a care in the world, because we’re going away on holidays. Lucky our coppers turn a blind eye to much of it.
@Renegade04011 күн бұрын
@@markandkim66 Certainly not saying for anyone to drive with an overload rig, make it legal please. When it can be obvious the rig will be overweight may happen. I can't see how an insurance company could go to an accident site, collect all debris, caravan and car and get an accurate weight, never heard that happen from any accident. Of course insurance companies will go out of there way to not payout a claim, legal or not.

Yeah, totally agree 👍 Ardrossan is an awesome little town. We know it well . That's where us two Turkey's grew up 🤙
It is a nice little sleepy country town , it does get busy in peak times . Great spot to enjoy some crabbing and fishing 🎣..thanks for watching ..😊
gonna start fishing myself after seeing this
You will do better than us , we hopeless 🤣
Why not gotta be better than us two Turkey's 😅😊..cheers
Awesome lads good job on the info and ❤ the drone shots port Vincent looks nice might have to check that one out
Thanks mate 👍 the drone really shows how nice it is from above if your in Ardrossan check it out for sure
Thanks for watching. Yes, the drone is the star of the show 👌 😂
you two are so much like my twin boys lol
Haha thanks for watching..if that's the case I bet they were a handful and always up to mischief 😅
He he you have twin boys, that's awesome. I bet they get into trouble 😏 😅
Nice spot, we stayed there in April… also not the best weather 🇦🇺
We really enjoyed it 😀 even though the weather was on the average side. I could just imagine it on school holidays in summer it would be packed for sure because it's a great little spot 🍻
I remember back in the day doing swimming lessons at Port Vincent that always landed when the weather was average too 😂😂. Thanks for watching..cheers
@@MADMICK1 hahaha I did swimming lessons at Port Victoria… it was like 8am and freezing, I was begging not to go… the alternative was threats of being thrown off the jetty 🤣
Not often you get caught out with a northerly at Port Vincent... unlucky. Maybe blame that for the fishing 🤔🤣🎣
Yeah, the wind was crazy especially overnight , Jayco Gyllenhaal nearly turned into the SS Gyllenhaal it was that ruff felt like we were sleeping in a cruise ship 🚢 😆. Yep that must of kept the squid away 🤣
@Overweightandunderpowered if it helps it wasn't much better in the Flinders. No fish there either🤔 I mean the weather was windy and wet and 💩💩👎 and I shagged the back 👨🦽➡️ so cut the trip short
Haha yeah just our luck that the wind was hammering from the north 😂..yeah let's blame the wind for the squid 🐙..I'll have to make a new excuse in the next episode 😉..
@DamoLawrie how did you shank your back ..this is a no good ...
@DamoLawrie oh no, he's done the back in . Not while you're on holiday that's not supposed to happen, no good 👎 cut the trip short too damm . I almost did myself a mischief too but that was my own sillyness I broke the old sandboard out at daily head safe to say it was interesting 😅 you will get to see that one on an upcoming episode 🤣
Ya grabbed The Yorkers by the short & curly’s ya two squid jigs lol were a knockin so keep Jake-a-Rocken Jill & All 🤪🤪
Thanks guys 🤣 this trip was a good one it keeps getting better when we travel down York's a bit more I even break the sandboard out at daily head 🤣 stay tuned for that disaster 😉 😆 🤣 good times cheers guys 🤙
how to some of your merch
We don't have anything set up yet, unfortunately . We just ordered a couple of hats and hoodies to try one company out . But in the future, we might set up a merch site if we can figure it out , cheers 🍻
Yeah if you do some merch I would love a tshirt ❤
A great video. Interesting and excellent drone footage. We are enjoying your channel. Thank you
Thanks for watching. I was a bit worried for a minute there in Ardrossan. i thought a pigeon was going to take out the drone 😂..cheers
Thanks heaps for watching 👍we do enjoy making little episodes of our adventures and we're happy if we can entertain someone along the way . Thanks for watching us two Turkey's cheers 🍻 👍🤙

Ha ha, cheers we definitely are a pair of Turkey's 🤣 Tyrone is definitely the start of the show not us 😂👍
Cheers Dawny thanks for watching ..
And yes we are Turkey's 100%
That lookout look like a great spot to see ardrossan from might have to check it out next time I go past
Its a good vantage point for sure..thanks for watching cheers @bawicung9239
Onward 🔥
Onward 😂, let's go 🍻👍🤙
Looks like a great park, how was the waves at night did they keep you awake or do you think it would be better back a bit. Will do that area when we get a bit better weather so thanks for your work as this park is now on the list. Nothing worse than your flaps flailing in the wind at night. Had the same on our Journey, electrical tape sorts that.
Yeah, it was a great park, very clean and in a great location , the waves we couldn't hear over the wind 😂 in the next video you will see how bad the weather was , overnight the winds pushes upto 60km and pissed rain , we may of got around 2 hours sleep the van felt like a cruise ship 🚢 😆 but all good we still enjoyed ourselves 👍 when you had your journey was your vans water pressure a bit weak on the sink taps at all ?
Thanks for watching..yes, great park. It's a great location in bad weather back a bit, in good weather right on the front would be great 😊
It's hard, though, if your booking in advance ..our advice is no good 😂we shanked it ..haha but learnt that lesson for sure ..cheers..
@@OverweightandunderpoweredWe have a new 2024 Journey 16.67.5 Touring pop top. No we don't have any issues with water pressure throughout in fact we have to turn the main inlet down most times. You could look at upgrading water pump if your using it but I know absolutely shit all about that electrical stuff. We coped big rains and wind in Tassie not a leak only issue is bedside draws catch apart from that all good.
@brentonl1746 awesome 👌 yeah we have to look into the water pressure, but it's not a big deal , sounds like you have a nice van 👍if the only thing wrong is the bedside draw catching you have done well 👌 easy fix 👍 Safe VANNING my friend may it be filled with many awesome adventures 😀 😎 🍻
Great shows guys always the best what ya doing very entertaining but how do you do the sleeping arrangements do you do the paper and rock thing or it's one night one the next night the other in the bed 🤔
Cheers, mate 👍, Mick gets the dog bed 🛌 down the back of the van next to the bogger because he put less cash into the van so I get the big bed 😆 🤣 🤙
Yeah I get the small bed 🛌 😴..I put less money into the van so I get the small bed ..but that's all good ..😂
HK 1968 ute 💯👌 ,yer the salad bars are not around any more gee I miss them was great value please pubs bring them back 🙏
Yeah, HK awesomeness 👌 100 percent miss the salad bars, we went to a pub last night and got a piss little bowl of salad no good bring back the old days 😄 cheers for watching and thanks for the comment 👍
Thanks
Thanks 👍 cheers heaps this will help to fuel the adventures 🍻🤙
Thanks Dawny 😊..
Thanks
Cheers for the donation into the adventures
you're the only ones l've seen under weight
Yeah, we're only just getting started , but I can see how you could pile a heap of stuff in and do all the mods , the weights clime real quick cheers for watching 👍
Great video on all the weights. So handy as we have the same van and hilux (manual though). I would love to know more about the bunk bed modifications
Best video holiday I have been on fantastic
Cheers mate 👍 thanks for checking it out we're happy you enjoyed it 🍻👍
Actually suprised the hilux cut the mustard, 😅
Yeah, we were super surprised that it did that well, but I'm glad we don't have to upgrade just yet 😂
Yeah, she made weight ..if we want to keep it long-term, there will need to be compromises ..it can do it, but how well .. still testing and considering our options cheers for watching
Learnt a lot from this video thanks to Aaron and Haley for the detailed information and well done to the guy's for posting it happy adventures.
No worries at all. Aaron and Hayley were awesome 👌 made it a super easy experience, and it made filming it a breeze 😀
Cheers ..road ahead explained it well . There's definitely a lot to consider when it comes to weights . Thanks for watching 😊
Awesome! I must book ours in 💯
Yeah, for sure, it's definitely worth doing 👌 If you're anywhere near Adelaide, give these guys a shout they were fantastic 👍🍻🤙
It's definitely worth the time to get it done .it puts your mind at ease . Thanks for watching cheers 🍻 😊
Were the weights of the Hilux on its own, with driver, passenger in the vehicle? Cheers
Yep, the total was with the driver and passenger in the vehicle 👍
Before I even look at the video , no , less that 5% of tow vehicles are hilux , there is a reason for that
The hilux is definitely the baby of the range, but for our situation, it will do the job just fine
Yeah I get it these weights are without any real mods and just the 2 of us with a van that in today's standard is relatively light if you had a family or wanted to tow really heavy it's not the right bus .
great vid, great to see a fellow Sth Ozi doing it, cant subscribe as my kids use the youtube and want to keep the talk free of language not suitable to them. but will certainly keep and eye out.
Open yourself a new account 😉 let the kids have their own. KZread algorithms work in a way that these videos will show up on the homepage anyway. 👍 Plus these guys can use all the interaction they can get to improve the algorithm for their end
10:4 rubber ducky 🦆 cheers Damo 🤙
Cheers, thanks for checking out the vid , no worries all good, my friend 👍
Thanks for checking out the channel. I thought I was doing good. I've had to tame it down big time for the camera 📷 😅..cheers
Yeah, mick did well on this one very tame 😂
Need a caravan when you go to moto reg office.. takes long enough lol..
Ha ha, you're not wrong there 👍🤙
When the tow ball weight was done Was the coupling set at towing height? I've had mine weighed and was told the TBM should be weighed at the toeing height when coupled to the tow vehicle? What were the weights of individual wheels?
Yep, he measured the tow ball height before setting up the machine , Front passenger = 606kg Front driver = 611kg Rear passenger = 791kg Rear driver = 806 kg They did a full spec sheet for us cheers 🍻
Hey Legends!! Was great to meet you. Awesome Vid also!! Looking forward to seeing all the adventures!! Aaron and Hales
Thanks again for coming out to weigh our setup. We appreciate all the information you have given us, and hopefully, this will help a few people out to understand the importance of caravan weights, and hopefully, the video throws a bit of business your way ...cheers.. 😀
@Robinsons-road-ahead yep. Know these boys and you'll be getting some business from us when I can find some time 🤯🤪
Great video on this subject, this should be made mandatory for everyone towing a van. Really important info in this video.
Thanks for your comment. we feel the same the information that road ahead give us was very important to know and helped greatly. Cheers..👍
The best place for your tools is in the car. If you are away from the caravan.....
Yep, we were thinking the same will put some tools that are mainly for the van in the van, and the majority of the tools we will shift from the tub to the back floor should also help shift a bit of weight forward. Cheers thanks for watching 🍻
Yeah, still a bit of work to do figuring out positions of tools and gear ..well get there any tips, let us know .. Cheers..😊
Yeah, there is many factors involved, when it comes to weights and insurance. Our car and van are a big investment for us so right or wrong we're definitely not willing to take the risk . Thanks for watching cheers 👍🍻
Most of us understand the importance of knowing your weight limitations and no doubt we’ve all watched numerous videos online about car and van weighing. This particular video stands out for me because not only did it cover the weighing process but it also covers in depth and demonstrates the affect on your weights by how you load the van. Very interesting. Well done!
Cheers, thanks for your comment. Aaron and Hayley from road ahead mobile weigh did an excellent job explaining all the ins and outs of car and caravan weights/ limits and the were very clear and easy to understand . Thanks for watching 🍻 🤙
Thanks, Don. Glad you like the video. There's a lot to take in when it comes to car and caravan weights . Road ahead mobile weigh did a great job of explaining it to us two "Turkey's " in an easy to follow and simple way .cheers, and thanks for watching 😊
Hi guys, really enjoyed this video, as not only went thru your weights, but also covered how weight in different areas can have an effect on towball and towing. Very informative, thanks for sharing. Aaron and Hayley definitely sound like they know their stuff👍👍👍
Thanks for checking it out they definitely know there stuff, and made it a really easy experience , we are glad we went and got the rig weighed now we have a good base line for adventures in the future cheers👍🍻🤙
Good work on the vid guys great information
Cheers mate 👍 thanks for the comment 🤙
Can’t wait for the next vid 👍
👍 won't be long next week we head off for a couple of days in the van 🤙
Getting away again soon ...we'll see if the weather holds out ..🙏🤞
Hey my boss great video 👍
Thanks mate 👍 cheers for watching 🤙🍻
Well done didn't know there was so much to know about weights we just use to hook up and go and hope for the best.love all the stickers.
Yeah, there is a lot to take in and lots of limits to know It was definitely worth getting the van weighed to see where we are at so we can plan ahead. Cheers Dawny 😊
Thanks Dawny 👍 definitely a good idea to get the rig weighed well worth the piece of mind . The stickers were a little add-on, nothing crazy just understated and neat
Next episode of overweight and underpowered featuring Dawn and Garry 🤷♂️

Vans a squirter💦 😂😂 Great vid. Did you happen to ask if the road ahead crew travel? Maybe to places like Yorke Peninsula 🤔🤷♂️ wink wink😂
It just so happens. I believe they are heading over to York's this month . I seen a post on road ahead mobile weigh Facebook page.
The vans a squirter alright. I think maybe the guy with the hose in his hands had it on too fast 😆
Yeah, might of had the water pressure up a wee bit heigh.
@@Overweightandunderpowered legend has it he hears that a lot 🤔
The tail is wagging the dog 🤣
Ha ha yeah that was a good one 👍
Not sure where that one come from, haha😊
I am going to buy this vehicle
Go for it it's a great bus as long as you don't need to tugg massive weights 💪 😉
We like the hilux it doesn't have as many creature comforts as others , but hopefully, that means less to go wrong 😉 . Thanks for watching cheers
What was the weight on the rear axle when caravan was hooked up? Where you under on that because I did not hear what he said 🦐🐟🎣👍
Hi mate 👍 mick is in charge of weights. I'll get him to put it in here for you 🤙
Hi, when the van was on .The rear axel had 100kg left over to max limit . We had a few heavier items in the tub eg. Compressor 12kg tools 12kg, which I will move to the back seat floor to move some weight forward . Looks like we need I little more ball weight so that will eat into the rear axel weight as well ..but all in all should be all good we just need to be careful with how much we chuck in the tub . Cheers ..thanks for watching 😊
@@MADMICK1 cheers for that love to watch you both keep up the good work 🦐🐟🦈🎣👌
@rodjenny easy mate ..thanks for watching us two Turkey's 😊
Great to see all the information awesome job on all the weights very professional keep up the good work boys 👌👍
Thanks mate 👍 the guys did a great job explaining everything very well done
Thanks for watching some of the info. can get a bit overwhelming, but road ahead made it easy to understand. Thanks for watching cheers 🍻 😊
