    The new law, which is anti-China will have no problem getting through the house! If all the hobby drones were made in Russia, that might be a different story! Since China makes all the hobby drones, blocking Chinese drones and parts will go a long way toward clearing the sky of those pesky hobby, beginner, budget drones for the big money commercial drones! Apparently, posting ones vacation videos shot with a drone is making the sky unsafe so you must pay the FAA shakedown and take the drone pilot's test to post ones videos, making the sky safe for everyone!

    2:54 - that's a grossly inaccurate statement, that DJI hasn't been shown to have many data vulnerabilities since 2018. #1 Dji has severe data vulnerabilities in several controller apps, it's why you can't find go4 on the android Playstore (2019) and partly why they moved their enterprise systems to all in one controllers (to help avoid security scrutiny)#2 DJI has an internal program still where they have been harvesting user collected data for internal purposes, and they recently shut down part of it for the US (their fight log sync shut down) after a security expert, Kevin Finnestre went public with the details. That data is/was ultimately uploaded to servers in China. It is largely comprised of data gleamed from every flight log sync. There is also the issue of data transfer to China when you apply to remove and sync Geozone restrictions and update Geozones. #3 The PRC has, by law, access to all data captured and stored from any DJI product , anywhere in the world per the PRC's embedded and reserved interfaces 内部嵌入和预留接口 rules for all all "smart" infrastructure and related systems, including the flight software, firmware, and data collected drones like those from DJI. Additionally, DJI cannot, by PRC law, cite or inform users when this data has been accessed.

    This is concerning to me because I literally just purchased a dji mini 3 AND a dji mini 4 pro. I don't need our government banning my drones when they obviously have no intention of banning Chinese made communication devices like iPhone 16:37 and ipads. Along with the body cams, those are much more threatening to our security than drones. I don't even connect my drones to my phone.

    You sound like a great guy, and tho I agree with some of what you say, to think that a senator is going to get “educated” or have some sort of awakening moment by any of us calling or writing to them is incredibly naive. Senators vote with their party, they believe whatever is briefed to them, and nobody outside of Washington is going to “educate them” on drone capabilities. Not to mention that they do not give a rats ass about us, our small business, our filmmaking needs, not our hobby. Huawei got booted out of the US and they are bigger than DJI… it’s not a matter of “if” but a matter of “when” DJI will get booted eventually

  • @SteelCityDrones
    @SteelCityDrones7 күн бұрын

    Again the reason I say that is because senators are out there making incorrect statements about drones. So either they know what they can do and are making things up or they don't understand. You are right it is just a matter of time, but its way too premature to pull the plug.

    He's never stated his opinion on it this topic. I'd imagine he'd be against it, as he is all for creating jobs and small businesses, and employment rates, and this could eliminate tens and tens of thousands of American jobs. Plus he is all for police and first responders and them having the best equipment, which this also hurts and puts people in danger. While he isn't a fan of China, to put it mildly, this would hurt America and Americans and their jobs far more than it would do anything to china.China. Trump is no stranger to calling out corrupt morons on the republican side either, so it doesn't really matter which side this bill came from

    Professionally I'm a software developer. For a fun hobby I own the DJI mini2. Devils advocate... 1) have professional coders reviewed firmware and certify that the drones/controllers/FlyApps don't or can't phone home? 2) to weaponize, wouldn't they just sneak a phone home module in a future firmware/app update? The weaponized drone would wait for certain specs then do it's thing. Example: if within battery range of a military base then set waypoints over base, take pics, transmit to server. All kinds of variations from hide the secret mission from the pilot to blatently fly direct and cover as much of the base as possible even run out of batts in the base. Self wipe after Pic delivery. You get the idea.

    Just to add to the conversation; I am a Computer Scientist as well as a drone enthusiast, and have advanced education in Cybersecurity among other subfields of Computer Science. I have personally monitored the packets (data) going in and out of the DJI app over time with a tool called Wireshark. There is absolutely nothing of value that I have seen leave the device and DJI is telling the truth about the data that they collect. There is nothing shady going on there. Now, theoretically, could they do a quick update and change their data collection programmatically? Yes, but they'd also be discovered very quickly and outed because it's obvious when there is a mass data exfiltration from an app that is already on security researchers and national security hawks radar. DJI is not the same situation as TikTok where there are real concerns about weaponization of the platform.

    Copy-paste of critique of idiot congressmen who don't stand their ground for Rural Americans, thinking that they're parroting Trump, not understanding there's a difference of what is & what is not expected from Trump and from them-- Shame on you. We’ve stood by you, we stand by Trump, and you take this seriously. Trump can say whatever he well darn wants, but he ain’t gonna do nothing if it’s not for the country. Soon as he does he’s out. Trump ain’t God, Trump is discardable. Don’t you know any better. Your vote is another nail on God’s Country. Your vote is not just against hardworking men and women in Rural America, but it is also about further subjugating and squeezing Rural Americans. Yes, these drones are made in China. Big deal. What isn’t made in China! Can you actually imagine demagogues and sundry leftists, whether Tesla, Facebook, Google, etc. or any of that social-milieu doing justice by us. What about providing a comparable product for the same quality with a trajectory showing further progress and progressively augmented reductions in price or economies of scale, efficiency, etc. that shall end up as lower prices rather than profits. The Chinese don’t need to be saints, they only need to deliver a suitable product cheaper, and if to do this they “impoverish” themselves or decide to develop an industry and do so at their expense on their lower cost structure, the savings minus tariffs, and other political measures. And, who do you think perchance would staff those “theoretical” factories in the US. Are they going to be in Clinton, Iowa, are they going to be in Thomson, Illinois, are they going to be in Janesville or Monroe, Wisconsin. Will they not be near a large metropolitan urban belt, perhaps outside to save on land/build, but close enough for “talent”, for the amenities. Even if real countrymen, men and women whose lineage is four, seven, ten-generations deep in the same county, or at least in the same county cluster or subsection of the state or a tristate area, perhaps a dozen or two dozen counties, usually the next county over or the one after that. Will not promise, prospects, and the better pickings be found in the hands of recent migrants, whether white-flight or otherwise. Will not the best of the best be reserved for handpicked imported executives, managers, etc. from the same and other states, even from another country in our hemisphere or in another hemisphere. P.S. Any threat, any risk these drones pose, at least en-mass, at least categorically, systematically, etc. would be met, perhaps pre-empted by our NSA, who surveys, legally and deniably, anything and everything it can. Also, you can bet your “buttocks” that there are so many stakeholders interested in knocking Chinese interests down that they’d go out of their way to rip apart, to scrutinize everything down to the transistors, the p-gates, the n-gates, etc. In fact, there’s an “urban” legend that has it that back in the nineties Microsoft was such a crappy product that Chinese hackers had to fix-it just to pirate it, and that Bill Gates made a lot of his pretty penny selling the patches, and the evidence was in failure to prosecute, other than a showdown at one or another market, and that was only the little mom and pops. This bill is just another attempt to extract more value vis-a-vis the country, value that can make the economy more circular, more sustainable, at our expense, and for the wages, salaries and profits of others who don’t even come from God’s Country, at least not in any meaningful multi-generational sense.

    If DJI alone has the power to remotely brick your drone with a software update, they can do things other than brick it. They can suddenly and surreptitiously change the software in ways which would make it a national security risk. That's what they did to the AeroScope base stations in Ukraine kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnefxMqvgse0Ypc.html Edit for clarity: US Govt doesn't trust DJI after what they did in Ukr... An American manufacturer can be arrested if they do bad things, DJI can't. If they wanted, DJI could put out a firmware update which auto-starts your drone and rams it straight into the nearest military helo, so any safety features like Geofencing is moot.

  • @SteelCityDrones
    @SteelCityDrones11 күн бұрын

    Any Drone Manufacturer that has the capability of doing firmware updates can do the same thing. The question about bricking came about because some people were concerned that the FCC could brick the drone. DJI drones all have Geo Fencing, and American made drones do not.

  • @ShadoFXPerino
    @ShadoFXPerino11 күн бұрын

    @@SteelCityDrones The Feds don't trust DJI after what they did in Ukraine. DJI having Geofencing right now doesn't assuage Fed fears because DJI can just turn off Geofencing whenever they want to, or update the firmware to do whatever they want. American manufacturers on the other hand have a baseline of trust, even if they have zero safety features, because if they do bad things or sell to bad people the Feds can just arrest them all.

    what you need to understand...The government is scared of consumer drones...not because of data security...because they can be used as a weapon and a force multiplier. All you need to do is watch video of FPV or Std Drones being used in the Ruso/Ukraine conflict. They will be coming for every cheap, consumer level drone that can be used to carry a payload or as a platform for observation.
