I just bought my first bb gun its the one with the big loop lever
Congratulations. I still have my old Red Ryder from 50 years ago. It's still fully functional. I have an old video series to prepare for a Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic. You can download and print the Appleseed Qualification target on 11 x 17 paper. Follow the videos to learn how to shoot standing, sitting and prone. I'd suggest posting the target at no more than 7 yards. "Dirt bike kid"? I spent 10 years in the motocross world. In motocross you get into "flow", the shooting sports are similar...getting into the zone. www.ambgun.com/appleseed-prep
Well the BIG advantage of the AR platform is options so heres a couple i adore . Switch to a piston system. A BCA side charger. Side folding stock. And i dont bother with a LRBHO
I have no interest in deviating from DI on AR. It's light and refined to perfection. An adjustable gas block would be a nice upgrade. BCA offered a side charger to review. I chose the standard upper and bolt. I suspect side chargers will not be as durable long term. Plus they undermine the AR's simple takedown. And from the Ambidextral Gunfighter perspective a side charger is not ideal. I won't be testing the LAW folder either. But an option I will be testing soon is a full Ambi lower paired with a slick, no FA upper. Other AR options I like: Radian Talon Ambi safeties, Breek Warhammer Ambi charging handle, Arms Unlimited ambi mag release, and the Trijicon ACOG.with Shaffer mount... kzread.info05KgNEmZTnY?si=aBJR0B8ncydmhnmK
the most overrated optic. there are so many lvpo's that are half the price with better glass
Any particular LPVO in mind. We've gone thru a few and always end up back on ACOG...for glass and weight. Four of our shooters run ACOG with one Aimpoint T2 holdout.
@@AmbGun i recently got a primary arms slx 1-8 ffp and love it. i shoot in 3gun/multigun competitions and everyone has put away there fixed powers for lvpos for versatility. companies like riton and primary arms have figured out how to make premium glass at much lower prices.

Very inventive! If only I could afford an ACOG
Compared to a good LPVO, it's pretty competitively priced. But I am learning that I can shoot an iron sighted rifle pretty close to my ACOG topped rifle. In fact, I shot the exact same offhand score of 48 out of 50 with the iron sights Mini 14.
Why are you my favorite gun channel 😂 put a folder on it please
Nope, no way after putting in so much effort to shorten the stock. The original plan was to sell it after the series was complete. But it's found a spot above my fireplace.
A .22 is a very cheap round and you can get plenty of practice which will make you more dangerous than a 9mm that you train with maybe once or twice a year.I also have a hellcat, but I find I pack it less basically I'm less confident in my shot compared to other guns I have more muscle men reign and more accurate with. Accuracy always wins over caliber size!!!

Hey i like the thumb nut idea, i alwayse hated those things. Ive grabbed them instead of the charging handle before
I despise those nuts. I broke a nail during our testing of an ACOG topped Desert Tech MDR. I removed those nuts, cut back the studs, and used those 5mm flange nuts to reduce the snag hazard. I have a video coming soon on the Shaffer Machining ACOG mount that completely eliminates the ACOG snag. www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/acog
i have one i dont like the knive because i have learned, that a knive is a knive and its too much money for a knive. But i liked that you tell about the book somewhere i have it, but cant find so i downloud it too now
Yeah, overpriced. For me it's just a way to commemorate the influence of Rex Applegate. I don't carry fighting knives at all. Honestly the thing kinda scares me.

Shouldn’t the elevation wheel setting of 3/6 be 3 full clicks above bottoming out?
Each click, on a 20" rifle, is 1 MOA. You could set the elevation wheel 4 or 5 clicks off the bottom if you wanted to dial down for intermediate ranges. If anything I'd be inclined to set it right at the first clean click off bottom for a more mechanically stable sight. Zero at 25 yards with elevation dial two clicks up from 3/6 or just stay on 3/6 and zero for point of impact .6" high of point of aim. I usually do the later, but some sights have a z mark for the former. It's all the same. Keep in mind the flip peep sets you up for intermediate ranges. I generally only dial in for shots beyond 400 yards. 100-200 yards I aim for belly button, 300 dead on, 400 head...all to get hits center of mass. www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/ar15/ironsACOG
Yeah but the line of sight only being an inch over the barrel makes you crouch down your neck and take forever to acquire the sites! Everything else about the buffer group is pretty accurate. The charging handle forward assist issue is just your shooting technique.
There is no difference between AR and Mini for eye alignment. AR stock is straight back from action, Mini stock curves down. This is why full auto Mini is challenging to control. Charging handle issue is specific to the Ambidextral Gunfighter...the emphasis of this channel. Bilateral transfer of skill for unconscious, dynamic "optimal use of cover". www.ambgun.com

You should review the ruger pc carbine. The new aged mini 14
I doubt I'll ever review a PCC. I think a new age "Mini" might be the Sig Regulator. $3000, so it might be a long time before I review that , too.
To some, like my wife, the difference between an "assault" rifle & hunting rifle is black plastic or wood. Amazing what people with no interest in firearms can believe.
And it is amazing that with just a tiny distraction what people fail to see.
Aside from the ban state thing the main reason id encourage someone to consider a mini is that theyre crazy durable and with good ammo they practically never malf. They also look way cooler if you have taste, especially the older ones with their horribly inaccurate pencil barrels
Reliability has been good for me, but I wonder about durability concerns me a bit.
@@AmbGun it's all investment cast and heat treated steel save for the barrel, trigger guard, springs, sights, and weldment on the op-rod. I'd pretty comfortably bet my life that it will outlast any AR. Bolt lugs and trunion seem a lot more sturdy as well. I don't think you could break something even if you tried. Also they'll run bone dry, not saying you should.
the longest shot I ever made was with a mini 14 scoped o er 30 years ago. papa😊
My longest shot was with a Barret 50. 2,000 yards. Hit a huge rock cliff face
Hey man I'm sorry but I've seen 3 or 4 maybe of your videos on here, so I now feel obligated to respond. Is this a real opinion that the M-14, mini-14, mini-30 is in anyway better than an AR10, 15 or AK? I've been a firearms instructor for 13yrs (longer really but that's how long I did it specifically in the military) gunsmith for the same time. Mini-14 is cool and fun but not even in the same class as an AR-15
What’s he grip name? I like the short ones like reptilia.
BCM Gunfighter KD 3.0 by Kyle DeFoor Wish I'd have known about the Reptilian CQG-NB, probably a better solution for the Keystone Overlander and Dark Mountain Stowaway.
How can a mini 14 have AR capabilities with 5 round mags, plain muzzle, and no pistol grip?
One five round mag for the show, 20's or 30's in the mag pouch. As for flash hiders, I generally prefer an extra 4" of barrel over a 2" flash hider. Pistol grip is nice, but I run the BCM KD shorty grip on all of my AR''s so the straight stock Mini is not too far out of my way.
I think the folding stock mini-14 is iconic. Its in all my favorite 80s movies.
I see that a lot...TV shows, movies, and video games. I'm not much into those cultural zeitgeist things...I have never purchased a firearm based on entertainment.
Lmfao them damn pansies freak out about which bathroom they need to find. Fuckin mentally ill garbage piles. I will say, I wish the mini 14 could be in .308 or possibly a more potent caliber than 5.56. Don't mistake me, 5.56 is PLENTY lethal, but if this thing was in .308, you'd have the perfect Alaska defensive rifle and dare I say African backup carbine.. well, there's always the Ruger SFAR for that too lmao.

So, basically less effective in every way, cool, if you’re walking around with a rifle and a chest rig or plate carrier the gray man disguise has long since lost its utility
The grey man cloak falls when the rifle comes out
As long as that cloak is split up the back like a hospital gown, no one will notice the rifle.
Great review.
Such a cool rifle. Brilliant engineering...especially the trigger.
Gray man rifle nah fuck it make your own machine guns in the garage like a man.
Camo, hiding behind cover, nah stand out there In a red coat and shiny breast plate like a man.
I have owned 2. 1 ranch and 1 tactical. The trans had the standard blade/notch sights and the tactical had the peep. With the ranch model, open sights, 100m, a series 24oz mt dew bottles was no challenge.
The peep done properly has a clarifying effect that I think is equal to a 1.5x scope...if done right. Ruger was not far off on early versions. New version's longer length of pull really undermines the peep. kzread.info7xJgxL-O4Do?si=creVSL5a4XcD4Nji
@AmbGun My biggest complaint about the tactical versions' sights was that it was all controlled by the rear sight. So you'd have to loosen a set screw and rotate it to change elevation. Ok, fine. But at least on like the M16, you can adjust the elevation at the front sight and go in fractions of a rotation. The mini required you to rotate the rear sight post, so your elevation adjustment is in half turns. Just...odd. I got around that by swapping the stock for something with rails and went red dot lol But these are nitpicky complaints. It's a solid rifle, and I'll likely own another one at some point.
@AmbGun also, I've never myself, felt like it was giving me that extended focus. But it does kind of force one to adjust how you're focusing on the target. My 1 rifle with a 1.5 is awesome, though. That 0.5 boost makes a surprising difference. Clear water bottle (500ml-ish) at 100m was a chip shot for my FS2000.
@@Damocles54 Tech Sights on the rear help quite a lot. The front blade is pretty fat. I had to file mine down to get zeroed...very crude compared to AR post. www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/mini-14
@@Damocles54 aperture has to be smaller and eye closer than the Mini's factory config. Hence cutting down stock, butt plate replaces recoil pad, and Tech Sights rearward shift. Otherwise it's ghost ring sight is adequate for short range stuff.
Lol the cope is real. Hate to break it to you bro but MINI14 MAGS SUUUUUCK!! Also who tf tugs on ar mags😂 lmao
The mags function reliably but cost twice STANAG mags and weigh twice as much, too. With AR's you get a "free" mag every 5 in your load out compared to Mini. Tug certainly did not originate with me. I learned it from SF guys. And like Reid Heinrich's (who discusses it in pinned video) I teach it as an Instructor. Similarly, who TF shoots Ambi?
@@AmbGun mini14 mags do not cycle reliably. There are tons of stories online from people who discuss how finicky mini14 mags are. I get it bro you like the gun but don’t lie about it.

I like the ghost sight
Ghost is fast and better in low light. Smaller apertures are clarifying and more precise.
Also it’s not grey man when you can see the gun sticking out of the backpack, you just become an idiot for that mind set. At least you can hide a AR15

Grip tape is definitely beneficial. The mini 14 is such a fun piece, and very viable with irons alone, though it struggles with optics and ergonomics, when compared to an AR, not to discredit its usability

I tried a receiver mounted dot. It was ok. My previous evolution on the SU16c backpack carbine went from 4x scope to red dot to Tech Sights. I just find the dots too snaggy in a backpack and with peeps you get the clarifying effect. Keltec sent me their SU16d pic rail peep sights. I drilled and tapped it. But is 4-8x scope still ok?
Mini is a really poor optics platform. AR much better. But properly setup peep sights, with their clarifying effect, are equal to 1.5x magnification.
