Just a guy from Norway that loves car repair videos, DIY and tools. I'm trying to get into electronics as a hobby. And I'm a bit into the situation in Syria and the Middle East. I do all the repairs that is needed on my own car, and own a Peugeot 407 2008 2.0HDI.

I want to see the parking assistance working
The parking assistance is working as it should, with sound. And you can install a parking camera. I have not done that, so the screen turns black when I put the gear in reverse.
I realise this was some years ago, but I hope you can answer.. Does the new head unit accommodate all these functions from the factory display? Audio control ✔ Climate control ✔ Trip computer ❓ Parking sensor - (does it use directional sound from the car speakers, or a buzzer in the panel)❓ Open door warning ✔ Car settings (automatic lights, locking, etc) ❓ Also, does it affect anything on the instrument panel? (warning icons, trip computer, cruise control, etc) Thanks
I can see the temperature when changing it on the display. Parking sensor works fine (sound), so does open door warning. I have not noticed that it affects anything on the instrument panel, but I don't have cruise control. I have used the android unit for playing CD and streaming from Spotify (with my mobile phone). If I forget the lights on, when removing the key, it has a warning sound. I am unsure about the trip computer. Central locking works fine
Only issue I have had, is that on rare occasions it has difficulties with the display. Like it gets fragmented. On a very hot summers day. And next day all is fine

It’s working now, we had to connect the blue cable & the light blue cable at the power supply unit of the headunit

It is not that bad when you can get it from eBay. I pay 25% taxes when importing stuff. Snap On is always stupid expensive, and I hardly use them. More for the collection. There is also a shipping company here in Norway, that can help with importing anything from USA at any shop. It is called Jetcarrier. I have a big tool chest that I bought at Homedepot, and shipped it with a ship to Norway. When it comes to the carts, they don't look the same to me.

Did you of you who installed this have issues with the timezone? Our timezone (Canberra) is currently UTC +11, but the clock shows UTC +8. Tried auto setting on network and GPS - nothing seems to work. Even manual resets to this timezone after turning off and back on.
Hmm, never had any issues with the clock or timezone. Had to manually set that in the settings, and that's it :-)

How is the boot up time? That’s probably the only thing I want to know.
It's pretty fast. like 10 seconds
It is probably faster than that, like a couple of seconds. First time it is installed, it takes some time to boot. After that it seems like it is in sleep mode, as long as the car battery is connected. So much faster the next time

Fitted it yesterday. Hardest parts were finding where to put the mess of cables behind the head unit and reinstalling the glovebox. The glovebox is not right yet. I will have another go later. Very happy with the Android unit though. Very modern for a 16 year old car! Thanks again for your video, I couldn't have done this without It.

In mine everything works except the sound, which makes a horrible noise whenever I try to play a song or any other sound. The radio doesn't play music either. The parking sensor sound works well. Where is the problem?
That sucks. I don't think I can help you. If everything is connected properly, I don't know what the cause might be.

Nicely done! Does all the pre-installed tweeter and speakers work with this radio unit? Does it support all the fault messages also? Countered any problems with Android unit?
Actually, I think that the speakers sounds better with the Android unit. And yes, all the speakers work. It does not show fault messages. But It shows the air-condition info. I have not had any issues with the unit so far. The park sensors also work.
@@Krillekris it is kind of weird if not showing fault messages via canbus like the original screen. I hope there is some kind of work around. Thanks for fast reply!
You will hear a sound when there is a message, but nothing on display. But if it is serious, there will be a check engine light on the instrument cluster. Or another warning light. Then a scanner is needed. I don't miss the messages that was on the original screen. Most messages I have gotten, is when it is cold outside. Then I hear the sound, but no message. The small screen in the instrument cluster works like it should.
Btw. I forgot to ask - did you unplug the car battery or the radio fuse before installation?

I don't know. Mine works fine. But you could mount a rear view camera on your car. I might do that to my car in the future.

It is some time ago, but I think I was talking about the socket I used to loosen the nipple.

good night I was wondering if you had everything working at the factory with the installation of this radio. Or some functions like tire pressure, parking sensors and how the car's JBL sound has stopped working. I'm about to send a radio like this to mine, but I don't know if I'm going to lose original functions.
I don't have a JBL sound system. But stereo seems better with the Android unit, better punch in the sound. And I have not lost any functions. I have no tire pressure sensors system, but the parking sensors work. All in all, I am very pleased with the unit. It is a upgrade worth using money on. Even the outside temp is shown in the Android screen. There might be some special function loss, that you need the original screen for. But I don't know about them.

I really like the unit, so it is worth the investment. It modernize the interior. I was thinking about special function like trip computer, and that the screen showed that the temperature is 3 degrees Celsius or lower.

Det er en 2001 modell, 1,8 turbo. Vindusheisen kjøpte jeg på Ebay om jeg husker riktig. Anbefaler å kjøpe ny vindusheis i stedet for et kit med kabler og sånt noe. Har prøvd kits et par ganger, aldri lykkes over lengre tid. Om du vil kjøpe fra en butikk i Norge, så anbefaler jeg www.eurodel.no/. De har heiser til en billig penge. Sikkert bedre enn Ebay.

@@MoGarczarek If you had a rear view camera for parking connected to the unit, it will show when you put the car in reverse. But if you don't it is only black. You hear it in the speakers when the car is close to objects behind the car. Sorry about not having made the review about the unit. I've been struggling with sickness.

That means that I would have to remove the Android player to find the model version. It was a lot of work to get everything to fit. I am not tempted to do that one more time. Sorry

Jeg har ikke JBL nei. Men det ble bedre trøkk på lyden enn originalt. Og jeg synes også at det høres bedre ut. Var temmelig dårlig originalt. Vurderer på sikt å installere noe skikkelige greier med ekstern forsterker. Men vet ikke om jeg gidd. Er mulig å koble en ekstern forsterker til min Android enhet.

I can tell how it is for me. When it's really light outside, the lights are off. But now when it's winter and dark in Norway. They are almoust on all the time. I guess you just have to manually turn on the lights if it does not work.

I can't help you there, sorry about that. In Norway we don't have normal radio anymore. Only DAB, so my plan is to install a DAB adapter later on. I have not tried the radio function. If you mean the whole Android unit, I never came across any code needed.

What about the clutch cylinders (master and slave)? The use brake fluid also.
I have not changed that. So can't help you there. Sorry
@@Krillekris For what I know is that the clutch master and slave cylinder use the same brake fluid from the same reservoir. So when you only change the brake fluid inside the brake lines and brakes and not in de clutch master and slave cylinder your fresh and new brake fluid will get contammed / polluted with the old fluid from your clutch cylinders.
@@BertPle I have seen many brake bleed videos on KZread before doing it myself. Including Eric The Car Guy. None of them bleed the clutch at the same time. If you find a video where this is done by a professional, please link it :-) I have also seen videos on how to use this Motive bleeder, and I followed the manual for the item.
I like that you are critical and want to do it as best as you can. I also do research before doing anything. Included my Haynes Manual for my Peugeot 407. I can read the manual once more and see what is says.
@@Krillekris When the clutch cylinders have a seperate reservoir for their brake fluid, this fluid can not contaminate the brake fluid for your brakes. So every car is different. I am not sure, but I think the 407 uses 1 reservoir for brakes and clutch.
Just installed a similar one myself. Video made it easy, Thanks! Hardest part was to route the gps-cable behind the glove box , to find a good space for the usb-port and actually squeeze all cables in behind the screen and android unit. I have one functionality issue though. The automatic headlight function does not work anymore. Does not matter if I check the box in Car info or not. Do you have same the issue?
Glad the video helped. I also had issues with fitting the cables behind the unit. It was a tight fit. I actually don't know if the automatic headlamp function is different. I always turn my lights manually on, even if it is sunny outside. But I think it still works. Is this a big deal for you?

I ended the video with saying that I am pleased with my collection, and are not planning to buy anything soon. Well, I forgot that I "need" the Gearwrench 81207T. Shorter non flex set with 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4", in comfort grip. I think I will wish for it as a Christmas gift. I always tell my parents what I want for Christmas and Birthday present. And it is always tools :-P

Thanks :-) I ordered them from American Amazon, and EBay. Love the new Gearwrench 90 tooth locking flex head with comfort grip. Gearwrench have more options now then with 120XP or 84 tooth. First time a long half inch flex head is with comfort grip. The 1/2", 24" long ratchet has model number 81372T, the 3/8" and 1/4" combo kit has model number 81275T. They are cheaper ratchets then tool truck brands, but they are not cheap though.

Gearwrench has also a limited lifetime warranty on their tools. And you can buy repair kits for them. Carlyle and Kamasa also have repair kits. Other KZreadrs that are professional mechanics use Gearwrench, and in USA they have their products sold on some tool trucks that serve professionals. The reason that my 3/8" 120XP Gearwrench is the most used, is that I have owned it for a long time. I have put some weight on the ratchet, and it has never let me down. I guess my new 3/8" Gearwrench 90 tooth will be my next favorite.

There are two usb ports in the rear of the unit. If you want, you can use an usb cable extension and route it to the glovebox.
Which radio do you have before? I want to change radio on my peugeot 407 but I don't want one with a big schreen + android.

I assume that the parking sensor still works, just another sound. But I can verify it soon with a person standing behind the car. I write to you later tomorrow.

@@nejcrome7337 I have now tested the rear parking sensors. They work from any angle of the rear bumper. Also when the beeping gets to a solid sound seems to be ok. I have used a person behind the car for testing. And we tried from different sides of the rear end.

in this case, where have you put the microphone?
There is a microphone inside the unit. But I did not install an extern microphone. I would perhaps install it abowe the front windscreen on the drivers side.
I have no continuity between the ground and black/brown wire as well as no constant power and my rear wiper doesnt work. But you said the green and red is for the wiper motor. Any help? I cant find any wiring diagrams for my 2009 city golf online

I am very happy with the upgrade. Can use Spotify and Google Maps while driving . Makes the interior of the car 10 years younger :-)
