How was the tainted pact cast? If rag exiles a card it has to be cast at that time. If it isn't then it is exiled forever.

Many of the combos depend on zero cost artifacts and this deck seems to run most of them. Between more zero artifacts in play easier to assemble the combo.

@@w.s6124 Nothing, you definitely dont play mox amber in urza if you care about optimization, current urza doesnt rely on 0 mana artifacts unless youre playing polymorph, but overall I think he should've not kept his second hand, but its his own list though so who cares.

It wasn’t an “activation” of LED. It was paying for the Korvold ETB. If Eli would have activated it for mana, then yes he would have had to discard his hand. However, the Korvold ETB would still be on the stack.

I’m also a borborygmos and fblthp pilot, and I recently won a 5k tournament out here in Utah on it. I built it in a more dockside centric way, basically running any way I can to find it, and my neoform/eldritch evolution targets are deadeye navigator or Hullbreaker horror if I’ve got dockside and consecrated sphinx if I just want to grind value. There’s also back up food chain squee lines as well.

Love to see the Borborygmos and Fblthp representation! J-Rock, how often have you found yourself winning with the Niv Combo in this deck? I also run Borb and had this an one of my win cons, but I struggled to get that one off and recently swapped it out for consecrated sphinx value as my neoform target. I just could never pilot the deck properly to get Niv out at the right time (I assume its just my style of play) My current favorite thing to do is to Eldritch into Etali, makes for a fun game, especially having access to blue.

It allows for deck thinning so his draws can be better throughout the game. Takes 2 lands out of the decks instead of just one

When Imposter Mech is a copy, it also copies mana value, doesn't it? If so, Eli could have kept his Kraum copy under the Culling Ritual at 16:21. Or am I wrong? Anyways, fine editing! It's the first video I see on your channel and I really like it, especially the players' thoughts on their opening hands.

Everyone has esper sents, cyc rifts, bowmasters, dockside, everyone plays infinite solitaire sessions lol tries to win with treasures. Its truly pathetic that this is considered the highest form of edh play as it really seems boring af

It's just streamlined combos and interactions. I think there'd be more variance if there was a midrange stax player steering the game, but it was cool to see Etali have the explosive opening only for Urza to completely shut the game on both rounds.

What was stopping J Rock from casting Pact of Negation with Breach on the Mindbreak Trap in game 2? I'm confused cause he cast Mana Crypt right after so I'm not sure why he didn't just Pact

He needed to be able to escape the mana crypt anyways after tutoring for enough mana. So it was either cast pact, not have enough mana to pay for it, and not be able to win, or just escape mana crypt and hope for another shot when it got back around to him

Why does only one evolution resolved on turn 2? Are you supposed to use one of them to find Rionya cause there is like 4 instant sorceries casted so 4 more etali flips?

Exactly what J Rock said, people don’t realize how much time and steps go into these videos. By the time Eli is doing final post and adding all the layers to the video, we’re 30+ hours in. So when there’s a minor mistake like that, we just roll with it and do our best to continue making the best content we can. Thanks for watching though!!

It WAS an option but It honestly didnt matter. I needed to be able to get that mana crypt out in order to continue my line. I could have used it but I wouldn’t have had the mana to pay for two pacts on my next upkeep.

@@jerrickalsteen3950 what was the line you were considering? bc you had 6 cards in gy at this point. counter the MBT, go to 3 cards, flusterstorm and DIntent go to GY as well, going to 5 cards tutor for LED. Crack LED for BBB, go to 10 cards with the 5 cards in your hand, recast LED go to 7 cards, crack for UUU, recast DIntent sac Kraum and exiling it as an additional cost go to 5 cards in gy, tutor Brain freeze into hand. GG? and still 1 additional pact afterwards as backup

@@SK-hm2ms So despite drawing as many cards as I did, I really didn’t have any win line in hand. I top decked the breach from my Tymna activation and then the wheels started to turn. I needed to leave up extra blue mana because it was known game info that Dylan had silence in hand. So I kind of wanted him to use it sooner than later. I had Thassa’s in hand along with simian spirit guide. The idea was to grab dockside with the tutor, cast it with one from the crypt and the spirit guide. Get a minimum of two treasures. The table ALSO knew that Dylan had endurance in hand, so I wasn’t fealing super confident with that info. I DID however think he may not crack treasures to hang on to them for endurance. In a perfect world I would have been able to tutor a second time for D.Con… I just had to fight through a silence and/or endurance. I guess in the heat of the moment my mind was so locked on those two “counters” I wasn’t even considering running a full breach/brainstorm line. Oh well…. I still had a blast. But yeah… that was my reasoning.
