  9:30 more or less, beautiful fleche attack from the right. I saw a lot of fencing at nationals. Saw almost no fleche attacks on the women's side. Curious. This is a bout with some smart fencing on both sides.

  A tough bout. Cook keeps pulling his arm back off the line while Kumbla extends which is making it harder to rule that it is Cook's attack or even simultaneous. Great video footage of a really intense bout.

  2-2 counter riposte right is as clear as it gets. Simple riposte at 10-9 and the card for covering that is so negligible that it would never be carded otherwise. The referee got an envelope for sure and didn't even try to hide it. Disgusting.

  I don't understand the comments complaining about Massialas's whining, it is completely justified, in competitions every point matters and something as high level as olympic qualifiers, he was completely within his right. He was never particularly rude and accepted calls he didn't agree with. Lombardi however definitely locked in at the end there, he deserved the comeback

  What? How is this a Final Olympic Qualifier? There is no such thing. Besides Canada have 3 individual qualifications thanks to a team qualification, so Jessica Guo couldnt even get an OQ. What a bullshit this is.

  absolutely not. these calls are atrocious and is obviously rigged for the left fencer. I really want to know why corruption was there and hope the referee gets held accountable. just plain horrible. the assistant referee tried to convince the main ref of his mistakes but the main ref refused to listen. I wonder?

  I had a winter fencing camp in Miami with Lombardi, not only that, I was fencing in the Grand Prix (though lost on poules), so I went o see this bout just to see who was gonna fence against Andrew Chen, who funny enough I also had a winter fencing camp in 2022 at Kentucky. Everyone was shocked to see Massialas lose to him while up 14-10, but what makes me remember this bout so much was Massialas' father reaction, when he got up from his seat, he punched the cover where the coaches stayed behind and I was very close to it so I got jumpscared by it LOL

  He's not dodging tho. That's what he says at the beginning, the dodging is fine, what isn't fine is moving his head in front of the target to cover it.

  @@nashedpotatoes8184In foil only the torso and the bib is valid. The main problem is him using the mask to make an additional parry after the dodging movement which is covering. Pretty sure he got 3 red cards or something the next match
