The 2:45/7:30 mark ; 2.45 meters , Sotomayor , 1993 ; 2.24 meters , Dick Fosbury , 1968 Mexico Olympics . 245 -- 224 = 21 + 1947(birth of Fosbury) = 1968 .
@huguesdesesquelles725210 ай бұрын

Considering Holm was 5'11", it's just astounding he beat these giants. According to The Sports Gene book, Holm's achilles tendon was something like four times stiffer than the average man, which allowed it to store more energy and explode with greater force after compression.

Indeed a truly wonderful and humble fellow. I always held his achievement in the highest regard but to hear him speak I now also hold the man himself in the highest regard. Clearly he loves the sport and his satisfaction is in progressing his event. There are many who would do well to learn from him. Bravo Dick - a true inspiration for the ages.
