A few of the demos made the Boss sound exceptional, but in my rig I knew right away that I wasn't going to keep it; nothing special.Fuzzes with buffers, or the arrangements where you can use it anywhere in the chain, or even Benson's Germanium " bias stabilization" circuit ALL equally don't work for me.There's only a few Si designs that I'd say compete with Ge; once you hear it, you can't unhear it.I've come to accept that a cheap Harmonic Percolator copy can be better than a boutique Si Fuzz.As far as the Ampeg, they are outstanding, but anything over 20 watts in a tube amp is going to be more than will be practical for most applications.I'd much rather dime a 15 watt.I've acquired a collection of lower output heads to match with various speakers/cabs ,with the choice of the latter doing much of the heavy lifting.
@joeriffanucciАй бұрын
I’m with you 100%. I love the bc183 for It’s stability. I use a Mas Effects Sona live but use white dot nkt275 devices at home. The new tube Gjika device I have rivals all transistors devices I’ve used.
@chickenbiscuit4525Ай бұрын
Those 183's are made in three different gain ranges. I don't know how much the input capacitor affects the response between hot stacks, strat/singkes or humbuckers. But this demo sure sounds nice as it is good to see you grooving. What about pnp silicone? Or even with a rangemaster tone bleeding tr/buffer. Truth be told it's how the front end gets pushed. For a tiny amp it sure sounds nice. God put on some effects for future demos...

I’m with you 100%. I love the bc183 for It’s stability. I use a Mas Effects Sona live but use white dot nkt275 devices at home. The new tube Gjika device I have rivals all transistors devices I’ve used.
I appreciate that. Didn’t know Mike used different bc183s. If you look around on my channel you’ll hear more devices in context. I’ve been into vacuum tube distortion as of lately.
Sounds fantastic!. Is that blue gadget on the left of the amp a voltage converter that has the dial for precise levels of power?.
Thank you very much. The blue box on top is called a variac. Or variable auto transformer. It can set voltage. I like to power older amps up the voltage that was more common for when the amp was made. Also power up and down slowly.
@joeriffanucci Yes I thought it was. I think I need one for my Masco as the best from the tubes really cooks the cage something fierce. Yes, I shall have to invest in one!.
Heat not "best",,,,,,bloody autocorrect!.
Glorious tones man. Nice Strat too 👌
Close to EJ
😊
Sounds lovely!
Thank you very much
Nice one, brother! Monster tone for days!!!
Thanks man. Still working on it.
You have the world’s best gear. Better than satriani Eric Johnson combined. Only bonamassa. Has more equipment
😆 Joe B has a lot of stuff.
Playing sounding really good! Nice demo.
Thank you very much
In what order?
Guitar-super Sweet-super clean-odr Mini-amp
What settings on odr mini? Mine is too bassy please help
@@mickzguarin2647 I think the 12 o’clock position for all three controls is a good starting point. The spectrum adds bass and treble as you turn up. I like to turn down the gain and turn up the volume to taste
Sounds good more bluesy but instead I love the 6v6 natural headroom, no other way
It’s a great sound. I could do 6v6 on my Columbia. Buster needs the extra power and low end for current application.
Smooth and dreamy
Thanks. It’s a wonderful thing when it’s actually working right.
Terrible
🤣 Carlos you’re the man!
You mentioned the pronounced mid-range of the brown deluxe. FWIW, I discovered it’s possible to shave a little off by jumping the channels: I plug the guitar into the high input of the bright channel and run a short cable from the low input to the high input of the normal channel & set the normal channel’s tone to around 2 (7 O’clock). But the amp still retains its wonderful character.
Thanks for mentioning this. I was jumping the channels earlier on and know of those settings. Amazing how the tone controls sweep on each channel.
@@joeriffanucci Ah… cool… that’s great you’ve tried it. Yeah, the way the controls interact surprised me. Such a great circuit. I dig mine so much. It records so well.
@@ashbody3499 can’t wait to record mine. I run a a Louis Buster (5e3) and Columbia live. Just released a record with the Buster and my Ethos OD as main gain sounds if you’re interested. linktr.ee/morninggiants
@@joeriffanucci Oh man… you’ve got some beautiful amps. The tweed, the blackface and the brown Deluxe… what a combination! Had a listen to your album teaser… killer stuff man. Can hear some Rush and Zappa… anything that reminds me of Frank i find especially appealing!
@ashbody3499 I’m very fortunate to have bought and sold up to these things. Thanks for the kind words on our music. We love Zappa and the world of music that is related.
Ethos sounds SENSATIONAL through the brown deluxe. I have a Shin’s Dumbloid incoming… really hope it will compliment the brown Deluxe circuit.
Yes! I’d love to hear your impressions with the Dumbloid still haven’t tried it.
Sure thing… I’ll let you know how it works out. It’s due in from Japan one month from now. After much deliberation, I chose it over the Dumkudo because it has a cool fuzzy-drive character at higher gain levels. Really appreciate your videos… they’re very helpful.
Did you get any special options? I really like my Zenkudo but it’s not a super versatile preamp. It comes to life when it’s used in a loud live context. Thanks for the kind words.
@@joeriffanucci Sure man. There are very few people demonstrating different overdrive pedals with the Brownface Deluxe. The 6G3 circuit has so much character, so you’re giving guitarists an invaluable resource by documenting your experience. FWIW, I’m using a Barbershop, a Les Lius & a Jan-ray… all fantastic in their own way. There’s a bit of crossover between the Barbershop & Les Lius, but I’m glad I have both. Really looking forward to the Dumbloid. I’ve ordered the one with the extra boost circuit: always useful to have some extra flexibility, plus it doesn’t cost much more.
@@ashbody3499 very cool! Haven’t tried Jan Ray into it yet. I use that exclusively with my Louis Columbia. Had a Les Luis for a minute before the Fender
Like with a lot of things in guitar world, this sounds so much better than the digital stuff.
I have to agree 😊
It's a spectacular amp-in-a-box pedal. And really, way more than just that. I'm interested in how you're running it with your board.
Loving it. I had the pleasure of trying the working prototype a few years ago and have wanted one since. I’m using it as main gain stage in line in a loop switcher. I have a fuzz and modulation before it.
Love both worlds! Great 💪🏼 experience and results.
Thank you for checking it out 😊🤘
BUT, can it do metal?
Very thick metal 😊
Dream rig 😍
Thank you. I’m very thankful to have these things.
Very cool!
Thanks man. I’m happy to have it back
I thought he was having Mesa build his speakers. He's just using stock Celestions now?
That I’m unsure of. I think he prefers the 90 watt Celestions. I just did two cabs myself.
Did you say the Gainmaster is not included?
It used to come with the 10n. Haven’t heard otherwise
@@joeriffanucci I know, I thought it used to come with it. Saw a recent vid of his where he said it was seperate. The charges have really stacked up for this gear. I would put it in the unobtainiom category now. Although it is an exceptional amplifier and I do admire his craftsmanship. I like that SG too. I've noticed the prices for that vintage are pretty reasonable as well. That will probably be my next buy. Did you not like the Tarbacks or T-Tops that came with it?
Interesting. I’ll have to ask him about that. He makes some amazing stuff. I’m thankful to have it. I doubt I can afford an amp again myself. The SG is cool. Tar back pickups are unique. It’s also good to have no cracks and not neck heavy.
@@joeriffanucci I was wondering why you switched out the tarbacks on your SG. I read that on the banner on your vid when you described the signal chain. Unless you were talking about the other guitar.
@@willdenham strange I must have used bad grammar. Sorry about that. It’s a ‘73 all original.
I talked with Bob on the phone. Now he insists on selling them with matching cabinet. I thought I could maybe get in the ballpark of the head but with the cab, even though I have not heard the quoted price I know I won't be able to touch it. I'm satisfied with my Marshall clone right now. I admitt these amps are in a different class though. Right up there with Trainwreck and real Dumbles.
It’s tough, he’s one man. That being said his new ADG device is incredible and will work with other amps.
