Let's dare to ask the question. Suppose the butterfly effect. Does Charlie's refusal to discuss false ideology at the table cause violence to recur in the world? You tell me

I don't think I could ever handle being on Charlie's show. Charlie's etiquette and manners are terrible. He refuses to not interrupt. Moreover, WHAT he chooses to interrupt betrays the worst of his own character.

Dead Man is my favorite film. It's so steeped with symbolism I notice new things with every viewing. I would love to see Jim and Johnny work together again some day.

He's so serious and intense. I get it, he's very commited to his craft and therefore cares very much about making quality movies but geez - he could really use some lightheartedness from time to time! Don't get me wrong, I do think he's a great director, but sometimes his interviews are bit too gloomy and heavy for my tastes.

Jarmusch came from a world of mad New York; many of his music acting painting peers became unknown, or died from heroin ODs. Jarmusch had incredible aim with his career, always focused on his stories. Great filmmaker.

Interview with a genius. Jarmusch has a unique vision that makes his observations of the most banal aspects of life make us see life in new ways. This film, Dead Man, explores the journey of a milquetoast junior accountant into the mystery and mysticism of the early West, and his transformation. Johnny Depp is at his very best and the Neil Young soundtrack adds a rock 'n roll vibe, which for some reason fits the film perfectly. The supporting actors are brilliant. The B/W cinematography is breathtaking. What more could you ask for? This film will withstand many viewings, and the viewer will discover new details with each. And typical for Jarmusch, there's an undercurrent of humor running through it that keeps the film from taking itself too seriously. After renting it a couple of times I broke down and bought it. I cannot find anything wrong with this film.

Jarmusch was so fascinated by Young he made a documentary about him, Year of the Horse. Well worth watching if you're a fan of either guy. In an interview Jarmusch said he envied Young's ability to evoke emotion with a few notes while as a film director he needed huge resources of money and equipment to get a similar response.
