I love the outdoor setting. I live in the country in Jonesborough Tennessee. There is a field of cows boardering our back yard. We have a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It reminds me of my childhood home in Virginia. I love the open fields and the mountains in the distance. We have chickens and a nice size garden. My husband knows how much I enjoy yellow summer squash and he always plants them for me. Recently I started my first sweater. There were a few false starts but now I feel like I am at a point that I might actually have a sweater I can wear at the end.

Your countryside setting sounds lovely! I'm so happy we've made the move away from the city. I loved it there but life is so much quieter now and more peaceful. We don't have chickens yet but we'll definitely get there. Good luck with your sweater! You'll do great. It's a learning curve, and every part of it is fun.

Hello Katharina, I am new to your podcast and enjoy starting from the beginning to get to know you better. I enjoyed your topics of conversation about the knitting, sewing clothes, mending clothes, your yarn dying and spinning experiences. Doing all this with the little ones. Bravo! I am from California. It’s summer and I live in Central California in the San Joaquin Valley. We are experiencing extremely hot days in the three digits above 110 Fahrenheit. Although we are not desert but an agricultural valley it feels like an area we call Death Valley, which is a desert terrain. I too will look forward to Fall weather. StitchedbyMimi

funny i'm working on a semi scrappy blanket to needle size 2.5mm ,395 stitches wide and i clocked myself this morning too. it takes me 15 minutes to knit 1 row it's very relaxing to work on it and a little addictive you want to go on and on to the next color. at the moment it's the only work i'm working on. i don't follow any pattern in knitting my own "design"i knit stitches what i feel i need to knit into that part

I don't think bell sleeves are practical for anyone who is taking care of children and household chores. My oldest turned 19 in February. It doesn't seem possible that I have an adult child. Yet, I still have 3 boys with the youngest only 7.

I don't know what it is about 2024 - but I feel quite the same. I'm also trying to be much more intentional with my knitting this year. I've cast on and nearly finished a sweater with yarn that has been in my stash for years and years. I'm trying to go with need more than want this year and knitting with what I have - which will probably be more socks 🙂

Cotton yarn has always been hard for me to get used to. It’s going to be a beautiful top, though! I don’t know if it’s an option for the Yume, but I find De rerum natura‘s yarn Penelope to be a fantastic spring/summer yarn that’s not cotton. Happy knitting!

I saw a video where someone had ends just like the ones inside your top. They just braided the ends together right down the side. Sort of like a French braid. I thought it was an interesting way to tidy up the ends without doing all the weaving in. The sweater you are wearing is beautiful.

  • @plottwistpodcast9937

I made a wool and honey in coconut brown and I love that colour in this pattern! With the i-cord I do a yarn over between the 1st and 2nd stitch that I drop when I slip those stitches in the 2nd row. It gives the i- cord just that little bit extra yarn to not be so tight. It won't solve your problem with this shawl but maybe an idea for your next shawl?
