Of course Sting has no idea what's he talking about. What a surprise.

Damn it. His band is one of those bands that over plays it and ruins the whole mood of the song.

Sting says that every friggin' time Vinnie plays that open double stroke roll. Sting knows very little about playing drums. I'm amazed Vinnie stayed as long as he did.

I would say if Sting says, "arguably one of the best drummers in the world" then Sting probably doesn't think he's actually one of the best. But who cares- he may have said the same thing about Copeland. Vinnie and Stewart are completely different monsters. At least they use their own names.

No I think Sting knows he’s one of the best. There’s no question he’s one of the best. Vinnie can sight read the most insane jazz stuff you can imagine and make it sound perfect. Look it up. It’s on KZread.

It’s definitely a double stroke Roll-- it’s possible too that in past performances he actually did use a press roll-- which has Sting confused,, but he should Know betteR reallY.

It’s almost impossible to tell what the setting was for this recording. The camera never gives us a view of the audience or room. And the soft focus technique doesn’t help. It seems to be in a small space as opposed to a big concert hall. It would have been helpful if more information was provided.
