    Hard to see what is happening when the cord is installed into the orange box. Not easy to follow along with the spoken words, while trying to see what is happening.

    If you ran a piece about 100 ft. And they've already covered it and there's a cut on the outside jacket. Is there any type of repair I can do to it without replacing the wire

    The instructions say to put this in-line down the length of the pipe and you can run up to 3 feet of it back down the other side of the pipe. What do you do if there is more than 3 feet of excess length? I've seen a few videos where people say to spiral wrap it around the pipe, but his is not what the instructions say.

    this stuff is awesome..bought a 4 ft cable to wrap an exposed outdoor pipe that services our amusement ride building..put no insulation around it other than coating it in aluminum tape..this week it got to -13 for a few days and the pipe did not bust or freeze.. although if your going to insulate your heat trace fires associated with this brand are extremely rare but always use a fiberglass vapor sealed insulation (fire retarder insulation)..and always be sure to connect to a GFCI outlet which will allow the product to send a relay to the disconnect to shut it down in case of arc..if using extension cord always make sure the ground prong has not been removed...for a 20 dollar product it kept away thousands of dollars in damage..

    Can you cut it? What if you bought a 6 foot strip but need only 4 feet? I heard that you should have all the tape in contact with pipe or it could overheat, but surely not everyone needs exactly 6 feet etc?

    No Cutting, coiling, overlaping, zigzagging or overlaping. Purchase required length or shorter or run it out safely. Then do not over insulate or over tape.

    the core is a semiconductor that reacts to temperature so it can regulate the current passing trough the core.

    AppletonGroup, Just curious, Why is it recommended that the tape not be spiraled?

  • @headholio
    @headholio5 жыл бұрын

    From what I understand from other products, the amount of heat is sufficient with a straight run depending on the outside temp. I've tables for other tapes that will say for worst case of zero degrees F you need 1 foot of tape for 1 foot of pipe, for minus 20 F you need 1.2 feet of tape per foot etc. necessitating a wrap. But too much spiraling can add too much heat. Too much heat can cause thermal expansion and pipe rupture.

    Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about "otc shingles meds" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Xanaleb Deniden Blueprint - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

  • @davismize

    Its preventive not intended for thawing solution but will thaw. Timeframe depends on how far its frozen and the pipe temprature.

    jnb the cable just regulates the wattage it puts out, the cable alone doesn't turn on a off by itself ReRe,, that's done by a number of sensors that monitor temp, moisture , rain ,snow and ice.. smartin up son
