    I’m from Australia. Why wouldn’t you just use a knife? You don’t waste any meat and if you know what you’re doing it’s pretty quick.

    If I only have a few fish to clean I don’t mind a regular knife. But when you’ve got 100+ fish to get through, an electric knife makes all the difference.

    @@brentallenoutdoorsfl I might be different. Are used to commercial fish and I’d process up to a couple of thousand fish in an afternoon just seemed pretty quick. I used to do and when I watched your videos and other peoples videos using those electric knives you’d probably lose a lot of weight in fish fillet as I was a commission fisherman, all good bro enjoy your video still

    @HUNTINGNT375 Yeah, everyone’s different. I’ve seen a guy rip through crappie with a regular knife like it was nothing, and did it faster than an electric knife. I’d like to have that skill one day 🤣

    I'm in the market for an electric filet knife. The R12 is a bit much for someone who only filets 12 or so fish a month. Do you have any recommendations for a cheaper model? $70 or less? At the moment I'm doing it with a Rapala 7" by hand. I have smaller hands than you and would not enjoy a large knife.

  • @brentallenoutdoorsfl
    @brentallenoutdoorsfl20 күн бұрын

    Hmm. That’s a tricky one at that price point. I’m going to be reviewing some other, less expensive knives here soon that will hopefully be better than this one was. I’ll let you know then!

    Thanks! I always see folks with 12-15ft cane poles fishing the banks whenever I'm out there. There are definitely beds along that whole canal, some cichlids, some bluegills. From the bank you're kind of restricted on accessing a lot of those beds, but I'm assuming there's fish to be caught or else folks wouldn't be out there doing it! Best of luck if you guys make it out there, though!

    Brent are them b n m Sam heaton super sensitive 7 foot 2- pc spinning rods are they better than them ACC crappie stix spinning rods . Which one would you recommend me to put my last dollar on if it was your money Brent . I will be fishing for shells crawler and red ear and bluegills and sometime crappies from the bank only and I will be doing nothing but casting for them. I’m praying that you answer all of my question and being honest with me please. I hear a lot of bad things about the ACC crappie stix rods that is why I’m asking for your honest opinion please 🙏

  • @brentallenoutdoorsfl

    Hey Tim, I have not used the 7-foot ACC spinners personally. I can’t vouch for those, but I can say my ACC jigging rods have held up great for what that’s worth. I love my Sam Heatons for doing this kind of fishing. For a $50 rod it’s hard to beat. If I had to recommend one, I’d say go with the Sam Heaton, because it’s what I have the most experience using and know they’re solid rods. That said, IF you went with ACC, I don’t think you’d be disappointed either. They’re a good company.

    After watching this video and thinking about Terrys idea of a no guide rod, i started thinking about turning one of my many telescopic rods into one of them. However like most things now days i tend not to rush into it. Finally, it dawned on me that i already have one, leaning in a corner with lots of other rods. I used to watch quite a few of Whitey Outlaw videos, and back when he was connected with BnM rods, they made a Whitey Outlaw version no guide rod. Mine is a 10 ft version, about 24”in front of the reel seat is where the line goes into the rod, and it exits at the tip where there is a straight thru metal tip. The wire for pulling the line thru came with the rod. Whitey used it mainly for poking the rod tip into standing brush by pulling in the jig to the tip, then releasing the line after he had the tip where he wanted it in the brush. So im waiting for a cheap fly reel from Amazon, and when the weather cools down i will be taking my old/new no guide rod along with me. lol Probably be trying some fly rod type casting in lilly pads and such.

    Brent I was just at Horny Pond May 28th and 29th. I didn't know that they were pulling water out of the lake for hurricane season. The lake is down five feet and the fish are gone. If anyone is reading this and plan to go bluegill fishing, at Lake Okeechobee I would not go. I drove 9hrs to be disappointed. In the future will DNR tell me if water is being pulled out of the lake if I call? Thanks for listening.
