in all time playing , the only dmc which i return to play dmd mode was dmc 2. Maybe because even with IA improved , life and damage the game still feel easy or normal with that difficult. The rest i only played DMD for super costume and play another difficultiest and bloody palace.

Interesting that your thoughts on this game were mostly positive. I haven’t played this game and probably won’t because the style doesn’t appeal to me enough, but it’s nice to hear what other people think about it. The Electric Underground was extremely critical of this game, but I think his review had many good arguments to support his opinion that this game’s combat falls short. For example, he basically said that while some of the bosses might seem good when fighting them the first couple of times, they don’t have longevity because their design is pretty formulaic. It would be interesting to hear what you think about his arguments regarding the design of this game.

I sat down to watch it and I think he makes a lot of great points, especially about the "filler" parts of the game. His criticisms are entirely fair, even if I don't agree that all of it is bad/as bad as he makes it out to be. The only things I actively disagree with are combat being too rigid and the lack of a ranking system being an issue. Even if the game tries to push you to respond to attacks in certain ways, it's still entirely possible to respond in your own way or disrupt attacks. Watching his footage bothered me a little since he seemed to approach almost all encounters with the idea that parrying and "waiting for your turn" is the only way to play (which makes him calling Sekiro the superior game ironic, since that game can also be played that way and is the way 90% of people end up playing it). For ranking systems, I don't think action games strictly need them. They can definitely help to push players to experiment more, but the player's intrinsic motivation is what matters most IMO. NieR Automata doesn't have a ranking system but you can absolutely do some cool stuff with it's combat, for example. It's a well made video though, and I'm glad you told me about it since it does give a new perspective on the game.

@@SHIKI_All_Caps Thanks for your thoughts! Maybe he did try to approach the combat encounters in a too rigid way, though I can’t really say since I haven’t played the game. The Electric Underground has definitely been one of my favorite channels and his content regarding shmups, action games and fighting games has been really eye-opening to me. Especially shmups were a practically unknown genre for me, but his playlist, ”How to shmup” was very fascinating to watch and helped to explain the logic behind approaching and getting into that genre.

"The game caught my eye" -> shot. Amazing edit lol. I never really hear about the game aside from the skinsuit, but the actions, suits, and even some bosses look nice. The Vergil blade thing and Mech-looking boss stood out the most for me. Cool to know that the actions could please someone familiar with DMC and Sekiro, seems like a fun buy... maybe a few years from now, after I upgrade my PC and maybe even pick up Sekiro, because there's no way the one I have rn can handle playing something that pretty smoothly. The gunplay looks like it's from a completely different game, which is kinda neat I guess but barely seem to blend with the swordplay. The "pause to change grenade and gun" reminded me a bit of MGR:R, but the difference is I almost forgot MGR even has those and SB seems to require it at some section.
@SHIKI_All_Caps17 күн бұрын
That shot was mostly a happy accident lol I just picked out random footage and it happened to line up nicely. I didn't mention it, but there's two sections in the game where they disable your sword and you can only fight back with the gun. You definitely have to interact with that menu even if you wanna ignore it. Those sections are kinda atmospheric though. They remind me a bit of Dead Space.

After 20 years I still remember the first time I played DMD in DMC1, when I got the rusty key and the red puppet attacked me by activating its DT without warning. My maximum life turned red with just 1 hit. This is like a trauma and I don't think any DMD in the following DMCs has even been able to compare.

Most excrutiating enemy in d DMC1 DMD are not only the shadows but the death type sin enemies, all three will turn themselves into mini bosses if you take to long to kill them, not to mention that the the Death Sins will gain temporary invincibility if you piss them off while they're in DT.
