    This is an interesting, more realistic pattern than the one I use. I'll have to give this a try. Also, I never thought about the push-pin needles. Those could be used in shrimp and crawdad patterns I've been wanting to try. Thanks for the demonstration.

    Great looking fly m8!! Just one question......Is the "gap" between the "head" of the back fly this far back by design or "did it just happen"???? But I totally agree with you on the EP brushes!!! I use them a lot myself. OH and by the way.....I think I might have to steal this one from you ( or copy it to be exact) and make them in few colors. Greetings from Iceland.

  • @mickeygrantflyfishingtying6246
    @mickeygrantflyfishingtying62464 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching!! The gap length in between the hooks is by design. I always allow for roughly 1 hook length distance between the hooks. Too close together and the fly won’t “wiggle” or “swim”correctly. It also can increase difficulty on hook up ratio if they are too close!

    What soze rod are you throwing this fly with? 8 weight?

  • @mickeygrantflyfishingtying6246
    @mickeygrantflyfishingtying62465 ай бұрын

    8 weight but only for the size of the fish. You can easily cast it with a 5 weight no problem. If you look at some of my other videos, you see me fishing this pattern for carp with my fiberglass 8 weight.

    Very nice work. Beautiful fly! Do you typically use a sinking line? Do you ever incorporate lead wire on these flys?

  • @mickeygrantflyfishingtying6246
    @mickeygrantflyfishingtying6246 Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching! Yes, I mostly fish these flys on a sinking line. I don’t use much less wire on them at all unless I want to keel the hook ( make it swim hook point down ). The way I do that is to wrap about 4 or 5 turns on the bend of the hook and then coat with UV resin to prevent slippage. Super glue works fine for this also.

    Enjoyed this video! Bufords have caught me so many pike last season, and indeed the hackles and crystal flash have big merit to it but the erratic action of the Buford often saved the day: up, down, left, right .. like working a jerkbait
