Mine is because of producing too much stomach acid from too much alcohol. I try to control my drinking and always take omoprizol to quell the acid.

Shidd I have been having this for 3 days now, these doctors are so misleading and always try to make it out to be like a panic attack or mental issue and it's just not true. This is happening on it's on and came out of nowhere. Why must we beg doctors to really listen to us. I am headed to the ear nose and throat doctor soon wish me luck

I've had this since my 20s, now in my 70s. Dr. says caused by acid reflux. Like everybody says STAY CLAM, I know hard to do, take shallow breaths and it will pass. Just a chronic condition. Don't eat late at night, keep head elevated, helps ward it off at night.

I have ALS/MND and have been experiencing this as a result of a slight choke on liquids. It is absolutely terrifying. I'm not sure my doctor fully appreciates what is happening to me, rather explaining it as the result of spasticity in the neck muscles...
