    French settlers were in Canada first in what was called New France. The British were in the south in what is now called the USA. The British in the south attacked New France and won the battle in 1760 this is how New France became a British colony. There were two referendums one in 1980 that was 60-40 where the other is in 1995 is the one that you were mentioning at 51-49. There were a lot of historical context to those two referendums I think you can find it by doing a quick search of videos on KZread.

    Why insult Iowa? I’m from Iowa and am a graduate student of history who specializes in French colonial (North American) history. I know a hell of a lot about early Quebec (including the fact that Dubuque (where I’m from) was founded by Quebecois Julien Du Buque in the 18th century). (I guess we were just supposed to represent the most ignorant example of Americans. Pretty ignorant of you, IMH Iowan opinion.) P.S. - the bilingual (English-Fr) packaging is extremely prevalent in the US, too - presumably because it's cheaper to print one version of, say, a tampon box for both countries.

    Since I was born in America, but I have French Canadian ancestry. My grandfather’s name is Pierre Desautels and he came to Canada in 1658 and lived in the city of Montreal.

    As an Anglo-Canadian living in Quebec, I would deport all french canadians back to france, belgium or switzerland (french-speaking countries) and then I would increase immigration. Canada won't have any problems with Quebec separating itself from the rest of the country, no french nationalism no problems whatsoever. Amen

    I tire of people who have the privilege of living in a democratic society not thinking it is their *responsibility* to vote.

    Australia has Election Day on a Saturday to maximize voting turnout. It also allows voting for every day for about a fortnight before Election Day and postal voting. Very few think it’s a problem.

    I have often said ballots should have the option of ‘none of the above’ as the bottom option to allow people to deliberately not select anyone instead of spoiling their ballot.

  • @ruseriousdownunder4888
    @ruseriousdownunder488823 күн бұрын

    In Australia it is not ‘mandatory voting’ but ‘mandatory attendance at a voting station’. What you do with your ballot is up to you, including spoiling it. Nobody knows unless you tell them.

    I went pretty deep inside this case at the time and i can safely say, It's not as clear cut cookie as you like us to believe and the unmistakable impression rears on me that you are taking you are taking this position for the very same reason as you accuse people who are ' sensationalizing ' it be it in reverse, You just happen to dig as different drug wich is the pleassure of debunking or exposing wich must be thrilling off course and can provide us with quite the high and with the Likes of of public as well, doesn't mean tho that anything you claim here is based in any sense of reality what so ever. These are just your random assumptions and as for the thing you like to shoot up. It's entirely not my cup of tea meaning, It doesn't float it for me personally and then we haven't even talked about what may have actually happened to Elisa ! But you craftilly whiffed it away before we can may I say that is underwhelming and unimpressive ? because it is. As she wrote in her dialy diary there were all kinds of unsavory characters at the scene praying on her, My point is, Would it be so mad to assume one or several of them were waiting on their chance to snatch her, have their way with a young female in a tough spot and perhaps found a way to dispose of her body without alarming anyone? It's not like a crazy thing that never happened to any other girl on this planet before ! But off course I'm just being flashy and sensational right now, I stand corrected, Lol

    One thing that bugs me about musicals is how the song can seemingly loop with the same lines ad nauseum while I'm waiting for the plot to go somewhere. It's amazing the characters actually get to complete any tasks. Imagine spending half an hour singing about doing the washing without actually washing anything.

    I have a bachelors in math education and unless you're a millionaire or financially well off, I don't get why anyone would get a pure math degree. It's as good as getting a philosophy degree. At least with a philosophy degree, you can think freely and broadly and apply it to the real world whereas a pure math just burns brain cells, only you and the select students who can't make it in applied math or computer science care about it. Get an applied math degree. I went for math education because I was exposed to computers and CS late in life, so I want to emphasize on CS ways of reasoning and problem solving like algorithms, flowcharts, pseudocode etc with my students in my math class.

    Amazing video as always! Question for you: what do you think about Yanis Varoufakis's thesis that we no longer live in capitalism but in a new form of feudalism, which he calls Technofeudalism. Yanis Varoufakis wrote a book with that title where he expands on this thesis. Saludos from Monterrey, México!

    The Québecois representatives voted unanimously to make the oath to the king optional. I'm pretty sure we're the only province to do so. We're linked to the english crown because of Canadians from english descent, we definetly do not like and do not care for the royal family. I mean we do care, we hate them. It's absurd for a country like Canada not to have complete independence from the old country.

    Tayyeb, a french club member who studied french with me gave me a copy of a video that I don't remember what the name are... It's an old classic black and white movie about visualizing numbers in everything around. Does anyone know what the movie name was and where to view it for reference? It's a must watch for math lovers though not to be actually viewing everything in numbers literally in exact. Thanks for the abstract art of math on PhD and why it is important to have mathematicians in high technological worlds to help build protective measurements accountability engineering's. Precision Tech needs. ❤

    As an Englishman who lives in Quebec, I think French Canada hates the English! Everything is in French now, illegal to speak English at work, illegal to call your business an English name, illegal to have an English sign on a building. Absolutely horrible living in this province, always felt like the French hate me, and I feel unwelcome!

    4:25 someone knows what that theorem is called? I don't understand the statement. Is it like Let cl, c:P(X)->P(X) be the mappings to a sets closure/complement and (A_n)_{n in N} in P(X) a sequence with A_{n+1}=cl(A_n) or A_{n+1}=c(A_n) for all n. Then, there is a set F subset P(X), |F|=14 with A_n in F forall n ?

    If you're REALLY good at mathematics, then you stay in mathematics and try your hardest to contribute to the field. If you're among the top few in the world, you are almost compelled against your will by an internal passion to discover new mathematics because nothing else compares.
