Brilliant piper! Squeezing the bag with his right arm, pumping the bellows with his right, fingering the chanter with all fingers and hitting the drone keys with right wrist - and you thought piloting a fighter jet needed coordination! Quite astonishing playing, but he was gifted as a young boy too.

A masterclass in regulator work! I always wondered why ye olde Uilleann pipers were mad enough to add them to an already complex instrument- there's why!

Great playing, wild wrist regulator work!! I'll make it a personal project to replicate 1 bar of this reg playing by Christmas 2014! I hope in other performances the drone mike has captured / will capture more of the bass. Most of these flat sets have in their different sounds beautiful bass tone that's too often not captured in live amplified playing.

If I remember correctly, this set's bass drone was wonky and he only used it when he needed it to play the 4th relative to the tonic. It was a really cool sound and he used it that night when playing the "long" Ennis version of the Fox Chase.

The pipes were invented by aliens with at least three arms; their ending up on Earth is pure coincidence. They were never meant for human use.

I can't help but think that the Uilleann pipes were invented by a man who had trouble finding other pipers to play with him!

Man, even I can appreciate how difficult that is to play.

Sounds like a C natural set, can anybody confirm or tell me what pitch this is? :) very nice sound
@geoffwooff17166 жыл бұрын
It is a C# set, although it might not be playing 'IN' C#... this model is more likely in the same pitch as Seamus Ennis' pipes which usually are about half way between C and C#. It was based on a very similar 'Coyne' set to Ennis'.

Amazing performance but I'm curios why he shortens the "A" section by half? All of the versions with which I'm familiar the A and B sections are both 8 measures, each repeated. The "C" and "D" sections are 4 measures each (both repeated).
