    The first Mirror's Edge was the first console game I bought with my own money. The difficulty curve was too much for me and I couldn't beat it. I was thinking about buying this game. However, I saw the reviews and decided against it. EA tries something original and completely ruins it, again!

  • @YourEraGamer

    I was able to beat that game, but only after some difficulty. The graphics and the way it played really made it seem like it was one of those games that you were better off watching someone else play than playing yourself. The graphics and some of the music was definitely quite good, though.

    Back when EB Games let you try games, they had a demo for this game. When I got my PS3, this was the first game I bought for it. I played it for the entire month. I have great memories of this game. Note, they replaced the actor who played Cole in this game with a new actor in the second game. That game had motion capture cutscenes in it. They wanted someone different. One of the early trailers for the sequel had Cole look more like Nathan Drake. They had to change Cole's design for the second game.

    Oopsie. It's understandable to see something like that happen. One character looking similar to another. It kind of reminds me of bullet time from Max Payne. The developers came up with this cool idea of slowing down time so Payne could take out enemies in a really cool manner. They had no idea at the time that it was the same idea that was being used in The Matrix. I can only imagine some of those developers going in to watch the Matrix and being surprised that the idea was appearing in a movie as well.

    There were probably some issues with it (don't know for sure on that), though I suspect this is more about a game that has fallen into disrepair. Is this satire? Because you couldn't figure out how to make a 16 year game run it is therefore broken? And you are doing a.....non........review on it? And in the description says you had the n64 version of this game? WTF are you talking about? As far as I tell the only C&C that was released for the N64 was the first one. Not even red alert 1. I genuinely cannot tell if this is satire or not. edit : for the funzies, I installed red alert 3 uprising, from steam. And it worked perfectly. Its basically the same game. I think this is a instance of PEBKAC.

  • @YourEraGamer

    I mentioned playing an N64 C&C in the context of having experience in the franchise - hence why I was excited to play the game only to find it doesn't work. The fact that this game has been well known to not work for a lot of modern operating systems means it's not a "me" problem. Numerous people have not only posted on various communities about running into the exact same issues as me, but the problems have stumped those same communities as well. If you paid attention to what I said, I ran through the NUMEROUS ways I attempted to troubleshoot and fix the problems, but none of these efforts worked. I did what any reasonable gamer would do and then some, yet the game doesn't boot due to the developers letting this game fall into disrepair. As someone who reviews these things, I have to post based on my experience. In my case, I paid for what ended up being a broken game.

    I wish I could fully explain my overall strategy which involves me getting this console, but I can say that you're going to be really happy with where I intend on taking this channel in the future if you are interested in the more modern stuff. A big stumbling block is, indeed, money as modern consoles and games can get quite expensive compared to older generations. For instance, here in Canada, a new title can run as high as $90 (sometimes, even higher in specialized circumstances). Meanwhile, titles on older generations can go for as cheap as $3. What's more, there is an inherent advantage to getting a hard copy version of the game vs digital which can be arbitrarily deleted at any time. This over top of not having to worry about emulation issues when playing older titles since I am in possession of the older hardware the games were originally designed for. Also, had I not bought this console, I wouldn't have gotten all this response from the KZread community in the first place which is a nice bonus. I'm currently in the process of more or less catching up to modern gaming. After a few years, I'm now largely going through the previous generation of consoles, so it's not going to take much imagination where I intend on heading next. At this point, I'm getting a broader understanding of how gaming led to the modern era which, in theory, will make me more knowledgeable about the newest games than before. Additionally, I use a careful strategy of investing in the background to enable me to pay for these things. The longer an investment has a chance to grow, the better (especially if you are constantly adding additional funds to the base contribution). Because of this, by placing modern games at the back of the line, so to speak, those investments will be given the maximum chance to grow, making it easier to afford $650 consoles and $90 games in the long run. It's a multi-year twin strategy that is very nearly complete and, hopefully, will result in even better and more interesting content soon. It may not seem like much being shown on the surface for some, but there is a LOT going on behind the scenes. :)

    There's only two things I can think of that would make you feel that way. The first possibility is the set itself. I don't have the financial resources to build an elaborate set to showcase hardware, so I'm basically making do with what I have. While I think what I have here is fine and at least allows me to offer a good look, I know that there are far better setups out there. The other possibility I can think of it is the fact that there are no jump cuts or editing of any kind. I don't have access to video editing to make it polished, create animations on the side, have text or images pop up, etc. Every video I do is done in one take because of this limitation. On both counts, I hope I can, someday, be able to afford a better setup to showcase this stuff in a more polished manner.

    I agree that this is a lot like Diablo. This gameplay style has been emulated dozens of times. The weirdest one I can think of is Minecraft: Dungeons. • @YourEraGamer
    @YourEraGamerАй бұрын

    Yeah, the Sacred games aren't that well known and sacred 3 is probably the most obscure of the three main titles thanks to it apparently playing far more different than the first 2 (it is very negatively reviewed on Steam). Another game series that plays like Diablo is Torchlight and torchlight 2 (video's of both are on my channel as well). Both are great games in my book. I wished I found more games that play along this style, personally, but I think I got a couple of them at least.

  • @afilio11
    @afilio11Ай бұрын

    I've seen several let's plays for this game. It was an interesting idea to develop a first person shooter around bank heists. It's somethign Rockstar would add to GTAV later on. Also, I think none of the bank security would risk their lives by shooting at your crew. It's just me, but most employees are probably trained to cooperate and not to resist.

  • @YourEraGamer
    @YourEraGamerАй бұрын

    Yeah, that was probably unrealistic, but something to add to the challenge of the game. Sometimes, realism gets sacrificed for the sake of gameplay and, often, I'm OK with those decisions. For instance, games typically limit the range of shotguns to only have high damage up close. In real life, that limitation doesn't really exist with such weapons.

  • @afilio11

    I don't have any neat observation to contribute. I only remember that this gameplay style was used for a Terminator Salvation tie-in game. Full disclosure. This game was the first game I bought for the PS4. Now, let's talk about the background of the franchise. Many people called the Killzone series Sony's answer to Halo. It never quite reached the same heights as Halo. To keep things simple, humans established colonies on two planets orbiting Alpha Centauri. One planet, Vekta, was a lush Earth-like world. The other, Helghan, was a harsh wasteland. A war between rival companies forced Vektan colonists to Helghan. The planet's environment mutated them. They founded a society based on militarism and authoritarianism. Basically, the Helghast were space Nazis. The Vektan I.S.A. assaulted Helghan. The third game left the planet uninhabitable. The ISA allowed Helghast survivors to colonize half of Vekta. Now, a giant wall divides the two powers. It's a complicated setup for a spy story. The main character conducts black ops missions in Helghast territory. There are people in Vektan society who want to reclaim the planet. Remove the Helghast entirely. Quite the ambitious story, huh?

    Let's start by saying the World War Z film and games have strayed far from the actual book. The book is a series of interviews done ten years after a zombie apocalypse. It's written by Max Brooks, the son of Mel Brooks. It's far superior to the film in every way. The actual only has the title in common. Hollywood ruined it. With that out of the way. The actual game reminds me of Left 4 Dead. It has that same vibe to it.

The special abilities feel like they belong in a Ratchet and Clank game. I also think this is the game that either had a horde mode or developed a mode where you can kill people with hand gestures. I'm not sure which one.

  • @YourEraGamer

    Yeah, that was, admittedly, a slip up on my part. Honestly, going into this game, I wasn't expecting to be contemplating astronomy at all. Ah well. I remember Black Ops III had hand gestures to take down enemies. You had immolation and a few other abilities to help you out. Don't know if this one has that as well or not, though. I've been finding a lot of Call of Duty games to be quite forgettable. If I'm lucky, I might remember what half of them are about already. That's the pitfall of these games being a dime a dozen. They tend to be lower quality and forgettable. Side note: I recently found out that Call of Duty: Black Ops II is currently being sold on Steam for $80. Crossovers in voice acting can be quite surprising. For instance, James Avery played that father figure in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He also provided the voice for Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles among other characters. Gilbert Gottfried is another one. He provided the voice for the parrot in the classic Aladdin movie. Sometimes, connections of animated characters and the people that provided the voices can be absolutely mind blowing at times, though in retrospect, makes perfect sense after you find out. This definitely looks like Fallout. It's graphics look dated compared to now. Also, it looks like you have a bolt-action carbine gun. It looks ancient compared to Fallout's post-apocalyptic setting.

    Since all of this new, I didn't know how much of it would look familiar to players of newer instalments. Interesting to know, though. I'm not all that familiar with the weapon systems yet in this game, but I do know that it is a starter weapon. Maybe that would play a role in that? Dunno.

    That's quite a variety of games. Call of Duty hasn't been the same since the departures of West and Zampenella. Sorry Perfect Dark wasn't good. Rare wasn't the same after Microsoft bought them.

    I did feel a little bad having a stack of shooters and choosing to not recommend a single one, but, yeah, the shooter selection this time ended up being duds for the most part. Sometimes, the luck of the draw works against you, what can I say?

    It's an awesome intro. I couldn't help but notice the blatant product placement. I bet Monster paid a bunch of money to get their ads in this game. While you were racing the intro race, it looked like you were driving a dune buggy while racing against cars, like a Mini Cooper. It just seemed weird to me. The graphics seem way better compared to the other Forza games you played.

    It really is quite the improvement in graphics. Forza Horizon does take tuning a bit out of the equation, though. Each car is given a performance rating. So, if your car has a performance rating of 500, the opponent vehicles have to be reasonably close to your performance rating. because of this mechanic, though, it pretty much defeated the purpose of tuning or upgrading your vehicle. So, I just race stock. Also because of this, you could have dune buggy's racing old Jeeps racing against modern Ford trucks and it would be an evenly matched race. You end up getting some pretty... interesting... line-ups as a result of this.

    Interesting. I've never seen you do a let's play before. Watching this makes me realize how bad I am at Tetris. I can't play that fast. Also, have you heard of a Tetris Battle Royale? It's like normal Tetris, except you're playing against 99 other players. At any time, you can mess with players' games and have them eliminated.

    I've practised off and on whenever I needed a break from getting through video games I'm currently reviewing. I'm actually quite fast compared to the average player. Like, I go into the main JSTris room to see how well I do and it isn't uncommon for me to place at least in the top 10. I usually get at least a 2nd place, if not, a victory over the course of a couple of minutes. There are, obviously, players who are far better than me, though, so I wouldn't claim I'm one of the best out there, either. A large majority of players can't pay this fast either, so it's no big deal. I'm sure you're fine. :) My record in survival, currently, has me ranked 3885th or the top 4.129% of players if that helps add some context. I haven't heard of Tetris Battle Royale, but I have heard of Tetris 99 and Tetris Effect. I'll look into it. :)

    That would be nice, wouldn't it? If I understand correctly, it sounds like the developers are doing what they can to sell their latest instalment and going to the extreme of delisting older titles in the process. I'm not really sure why this is a strategy they are employing unless they are trying to pump up numbers for their latest game. Even then, (if that is the strategy they are employing) it strikes me as a strategy of cutting off their nose to spite their face. I mean, there's something to be said about giving the people what they want, right? It shouldn't require scrounging around for the original disc to be able to play this title.

    This is giving me Bioshock vibes. It's not an underwater city, but it's still underwater. The game does look good. It looks like a first-person game with a Minecraft crafting component. Let me know how this game is. I might try and find it on the PlayStation store.

    Definitely will do. I've heard so many great things about this and, so far, it's turning out to be a pretty good game.
