  Discovery does exactly this way, as far as I'm aware (because I haven't played in a long time) this only applies to capitals.. or maybe even restricted to just battlecruisers because they employ modular ship design, and constantly seeing the damage dealt to your ship's components comes in handy. Otherwise, there is a predecessor to this called Advanced Wide Hud mod, that always shows your target and your own ship's status. Take into consideration however that in snub fights specifically, the reduced field of view can be a detriment, otherwise it is an extremely useful mod. However, since Disco has its own version, I doubt Adv Wide Hud would be compatible with it..
