Looks pretty good but don't recommend you continue using olive oil as a wood finish because olive oil can turn rancid.

This was my design I didn't use premade plans I drew them up on AutoCAD and then built the project.

I don’t get it. You rush through the build and spend all of your time pouring the first layer of glass.

what can I say about that I didn't take a lot of video during the building process and the only video I actually took was during the first layer fiberglass my apologies I hope you enjoyed the video anyway.

Bravo David, another video this time on your work shop and how a woodshop teacher practices what he preaches to his students. Yes most schools that have a trade class have the best equipment just remember that they all cost us tax payers tens of thousands of dollars for one planer, joiner, bandsaw and so on. I think that you have made many good choices in your equipment and it works for you. I too am a favorite of being thrifty and choosy when i pick the equipment that best suits my needs. Thank you for showing your work shop it is very 😎cool.

Beautiful work, it inspired me to do one myself but with some sides on it. Can you answer me a question on wood expansion? My tray surface is actually the edge grain of my old 1930’s oak flooring. Here in NY they floored homes with 1” wide 3/8” thick oak strips, butted and face nailed to the subfloor. A lot of the grain I had on the edge had that quarter-sawn grain, which I liked so I glued up a ton of these to form a board with that original edge grain now on the top and bottom surfaces. I then ripped it down and planed it to 6/13” thick. Will I have vertical expansion with its orientation in my tray? I have it nested in a dado track along the rails of the tray. I wish I could insert a photo as I am just starting woodworking and don’t know all the terminology, but I am aware of expansion but not totally familiar with how grain interacts with other grain directions. It’s a snug but slidable relationship between the tray surface and the dado groove. I’d hate to glue up my rails and encapsulate this tray surface and then have something split or crack once summer comes and the humidity goes up.

I would like to respond to your comment in the best way that I can't, to be honest I have not dealt with moisture content when comes to any of the projects that I have built so far, they are basic, and I really don't get that technical with the projects that I do. Having said that, anything that is made from wood is going to eventually with weather exposure deteriorate. Even the wooden paddle boards that I have built if you leave them outside exposed to the sun and elements the resident is going to delaminate and you're going to have all kinds of problems so basically, it’s matter of exposure. Using the best glue, you will help. The try is glued up with type 3 tie bond glue, my 4-year grandson has jump on it without any thing coming apart. Hope that helps, Thanks for the comment

Allan, it's great to know that you're halfway around the world and you saw my video on KZread. I would like to see your build. It's exciting to know that we can connect from so far away, looking forward to seeing the work that you will be doing, thank you for the comment. I'm still hoping to do a walk-through of the trailer and its current state. I've done a whole lot to it since I posted that video. Great to hear from you from Here in West Sacramento California.

Great advice Dave. Currently there is a shortage in the trades across the board. As a Coordinator at an Apprenticeship Committee we are presented data that supports this. Kids could learn to code, sure, but who built that classroom addition or the Amazon warehouse or the highway to get there...passing on the craft can be fulfilling and rewarding which can pay dividends forward. Thank you Rodger for your comments, I'm just trying to find people who are interested in becoming Career and Technical education teachers from industry there's a lot of great things about becoming a teacher that most people kind of overlook. The salary schedule for teachers it's based on ten months out of the year. We get almost three months out of the year for a vacation, of course that is unpaid but we still enjoy the benefits of the 180 days of school and the rest of the year we can enjoy our lives outside of the classroom. All the years I spent in the Construction industry as a Labor, Carpenter, Foreman and superintendent taught me so much I wouldn't trade it for any other path, for me working with my hand was hard work but I enjoyed the challenges that were raised and looking at something that I built was well worth the effort.
