WOW!!! What an impressive performance of such a wonderful song! I sang this in high school over 50 years ago, but can't make my way through it any more without breaking down in tears. Thank you so, so much! The children really nailed it. So many children's choirs seem to expect very little from their singers, but you all are terrific!!! Well done!

I remember the day we were first taught this song. The teachers sure had us in for a surprise, conducting/instructing us into suddenly already singing our very first round of canon! The way the song harmonized like that was already surprising, and then even more to our surprise, the second song also harmonized like the first (The second Canon/Round was "For thy gracious blessings"). No doubt everyone loved these, out of all our regular music classes, these rehearsals were the only music classes where not even a single kid was ever disruptive. (Even the music class haters enjoyed these classes). We were further surprised when we went to the City community halls for our final week of rehearsal, to be joined 'by' a huge travelling chior group of kids our age, from a school from another country, to all practice together as one group! by* - It was actually us joined 'to' a huge group, not us joined 'by' a huge group. but... but those kids, all of them, every single one of them were guilty of suddenly coming at us in such a large number and unitedly intimidating us! However other than that, they weren't bad at all. Yet still, every one of all those kids; were the ones who never went to our school, never been to our classrooms, or our playground, not even our tuck-shop, not even our gates at home-time, none of them have even been on our buses! That's why they were the ones who suddenly joined us in their intimidating numbers! I'll let you guess how old we were when we were thinking in those ways😅(hint* we were puny enough for all the kids in this video to be a head taller than what we were😆) It was intimidating for us to be standing so close with such a huge congregation, yet still, each harmonious rehearsal was a magical experience every time. So we became fully accustomed to being all together by the end of that pre-performance rehearsal week. I guess the teachers knew how long it would take for us get used to singing within such a large group of unfamiliar kids. So at the final stage performance, with the stage light ambience, in front of the grand auditorium; which on that day was pitch dark without the usual lights over what used to be thousands of identical-looking empty seats, was pitch black with tiny heads seen from near each of those very back auditorium enterances. It definitely wasn't the first time our school had been there, however, it was particularly memorable to have been in a combined choir, performing from the stage of that grand auditorium all set for a live performance.. performing there after a week of gruesome fine-tuning rehearsals(our very first serious choir-life experience)... it was an absolutely magical moment... but for me still, the most magical was when we were in our music classroom. The teacher affirming the most peculiar instruction ever but we had to follow anyway because she was so firm about the precise instruction, that harmony was the biggest surprise ever!
