I don't know if Andrew ever reads these comments but I needed to write this after seeing him and listening to him. I am an 80 year old women who has struggled with my mental health all my life. I feel like I have claimed the wrong sexuality all my life which I feel has contributed to these mental health issues. Since discovering Andrew in the acting world and now knowing he supports this cause of HUMEN, seeing him share his joys and struggles helps all genders. Setting this example makes me admire him even more. Thank you to all the men on this site for being so open. It can help more than any antidepressant can. Bless you Andrew. You are a true treasure, especially to me. I've never connected to a person, that I have never met, in my life. Thank You.

I cry when my body tells me I need to cry, as deeply and as long as I need. Hell, I often want to cry even longer than I need, but at some point the tear ducts clock out. It doesn't always look like runny nose sobbing and wailing, and **I don't have to cry every time I feel sadness, pain or grief.** There are people who are completely intolerant of that- they believe there's only one way to "correctly" perform emotion- the kind stereotypically associated with women. Many men(and many women) perform emotion differently than that, so our feelings are invalidated. That's not fair, kind or just. That's on top of "boys don't cry" telling us we shouldn't perform at all, and the social punishment that comes on many levels when we try and meet the expectation to perform like women. Burning the candle from both ends AND the middle!

I really appreciate Humen being a mental health platform for men (it is much needed) but I have to say as a young woman in my 20s this video really helped me out too. I watched it when it first came out and I won't forget it as it really moved me. I was particularly moved by River Hawkins- what he was saying resonated with me at that time when I first watched this. Andrew's words of wisdom also meant a lot- I actually have what he said written on my wall, his comparison of emotions to the weather- the storm will pass, and finding out who you are and trying not to be afraid of it. This entire video really gets to me every time. Fortunately I am not in the place I was a year ago but I won't forget how much this video means to me. I hope everyone who featured in this video is now doing better than they were then.

Oh my, this series and format is extraordinary! But it breaks my heart seeing Andrew Scott like this. I'd rather see his boyish smile <3 or hear the storm before the calm! I don't mean to pry, but whom did he lose? I also noticed a look on his face, when he said sth about family being apart in an interview. I absolutely adore him and his talent and have frantically been watching almost everything he did. He is simply amazing, deep, funny and lovely...yes ok, and quite hot!

Not all of us measure up to this societal ideal in every way, and that's fine, as long as we're trying our best and telling the truth. If we throw away those values for short-term comfort in our inadequacies, we are setting up future generations of men for unbelievable suffering, worse than our own. Society's definition of a man exists for a reason. The better we measure up, the better equipped we are to create value, improve lives and deal with hardship. We should want to be strong, confident, intelligent, we should want to not complain, not to let things get to us, never to be beaten. Those are good qualities. The idea of what a man ought to be does not need to change, it's a noble ideal, so let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. A man is told to toughen up, to get on with things. Many don't know how, so they pretend and have bad outcomes. Is the answer to change society so that men no longer need to be tough or carry on? I don't believe so. That doesn't help anyone. We will always need to be tough. There will always be hardship. We should help each other become tough, become able to continue on. We need encouragement, understanding and mentorship. Not a redefinition that makes us feel good right at this moment.
