Thanks for sharing this. My eczema has worsened recently. It was well managed before but recently even with two baths a day and multiple creams I still dry out after a few hours. I'm sure it's something to do with an imbalance or insufficient skin barrier. I've noticed when other people get wet the water just runs down their skin but it just seems to soak in for me. It feels like my skin is constantly letting moisture out and allergens in. I'm going to research more and hopefully find a solution.... also probably nonsense but I've read that triglycerides make up a lot of the natural skin defence - I have very high triglyceride levels in my blood, so could this be due to my body being unable to process them properly resulting in both a insufficient skin barrier and very high triglycerides... food for thought.

It's understandable. Lowering the immune system or resistance would definitely allow them to become more vulnerable to bacteria or disease. I assume that age would also play a huge role..

Covid 19 or Radiation exposure can cause viral sickness. It can cause hormonal breakdown and unbalance. It can cause organ failure, Pituitary tumors. Vitamin D can help. But if you already have autoimmune disease, you will need more than the sunshine. You will need intravenous drugs and blood plasma.

This is why doctors never find a cure - They draft, submit, refine, review, resubmit (Oh hey there are people dying in the street ) Eddie Izzard, No they're not. Okay draft, submit, refine, review, resubmit refine it once more and submit it one last time UNTIL IT MAKES ME LOOK GOOOOOD. If you happen to be in the UK you can repeat all of that.

Taking an IGg test from Dr. Loveless (on youtube) my top allergy was dairy then eggs was second. I always hated milk anyway. Also I wasn't allergic to grains but I do go very low on them and use gluten free bread, too. Ninety percent is gone. Staying low on sugar and have dairy free ice cream once in awhile.

Hey! nice to hear no one's ever died from this. I have one on my leg and it looks like its going away but I was worried about it for many weeks. Edit 12/29/23: yep the lesion is going away. This never seemed like cancer to me because of its symmetry. I've read up on it recently and the cells are described as well differentiated. I think the medical profession classifying this as SCC was not correct. Cutting them out seems to me like overkill - there are creams and essential oils that can hasten their disappearance.

I had a gastric bypass in July 2018. I lost over 100 pounds (240 lb to 130 lb) and yet I still went on to develop PA about 5 years later. It in short term it may help, but I think long term studies are needed also.

Look up Dr. Haines Ely. He figured out psoriasis was caused by the bacteria that causes strep throat, strep pyogenes. Well if you get H. Pylori you will have low stomach acid and the strep migrates to the gut. After a while you get leaky gut and strep's antigens leak into the blood causing inflammation. This damages your liver, which is why psoriatics are shown to have livers similar to alcoholics. When the liver gets too damaged to filter out the antigens your skin does it instead. So fixing the gut is the goal. You specifically want to target the strep. Azithromycin if you can get it, otherwise herbal antibiotics like echinacea angustifolia or licorice root work but more slowly. Hope this helps

Is increased mortality associated with complications of the observed condition? I.e, infection caused by lesions or other immune complications? Or is causality unknown?

I have psoriasis in my joints, scalp and other random locations. In 2020 I underwent several infusions of infliximab as treatment for ulcerative colitis. After several months the bowel disease returned with such severity that an ileostomy was advised and performed, thus removing the need for the Infliximab. I recovered as well as could be expected, but within six months I was admitted to hospital with what was diagnosed as pericarditis; the cause was not determined. What I find particularly interesting is the time frame between the beginning/end of the treatment and the infection occurring. There is no way to prove or disprove that my unexplained instance of pericarditis was caused by infliximab, but when pooled with other anecdotes a clearer picture may begin to form.

I can only imagine what horrific pain my friend with HS goes through, and it’s not only physical pain, if that wasn’t bad enough. He’s in emotional pain as well, and that’s horrific too. I believe it’s crucial to not ignore the emotional side of Hidradenitis Suppurative and there’s a book on discount at the moment - Stress Management Self Help in HS chronic illness by N.E. Phillipson which is centred on uplifting emotional well-being because stress can be a significant factor in HS flare ups for some people. Don’t forget to tell your HS support group members about it so they can get it whilst on special offer price/free in Kindle Store.

I’m actually lying on my side with one of the worst flares I’ve had right now while listening to this. I’m stage 2 HS. Thankfully I have an amazing doctor through Jefferson Philadelphia and see the head of the HS department and while she’s extremely responsive via message through the app and while we have a thorough protocol for what I do for different stages of flares the biggest barrier is getting seen when I need a cortisone shot same day. That’s a tough one. During this acute flare ups I’m so nauseous from the pain it’s insane and even just turning from one side to the other or walking is hard. I feel like most HS research focuses on HS in the armpits but less research is done on other parts of the body. Hope that in more years to come more research is available!

How do you go about getting a patch test for methacrylate? Recent articles in the news mention the importance of getting a diagnosis for those with possible allergic reactions but no further information. Is there a webpage that explains it further in layman’s terms? Thanks.

Why aren't any doctors talking about the Human Genome Project and how it was discovered that cuts in childhood mutates a gene that then causes skin conditions and allergies? The science was reported in the 7th May issue of New Scientist in 2006.

Solutions for skin are within , not from skin lotions, steroids etc. With the absence of gluten in my diet for the last 12 days, my knee psoriasis that has been present for approx 7 years is disappearing. Microbiome is definitely the key to all human health.

  • @stlgal85

I also cut out gluten about 2 months ago after suffering from psoriasis for 6 years and my lesions are nearly gone! The surprising thing (to me, at least) is that I had a good diet before that - veggie-heavy, cooked from scratch, no sugary drinks, minimal processed foods and no ultraprocessed foods. My PCP actually tested me for celiac after my psoriasis diagnosis, but the test came up negative, so I never thought to just try it. Amazing how much - and how badly - gluten can impact our gut health!
