Great video. But what you don't address (in enough detail anyways) is how an app debacle like this can actually "brick" thousands of dollars worth of equipment for a user. It's inherently one of the real risks of investing money into something like a Sonos system (which is a weird blend of hardware/software)- where you technically "own" your equipment, but you're completely dependent on: (1) the company not going bankrupt and (2) their diligence in ensuring that their software is free of fatal flaws. This scandal has exposed the fact that Sonos does not have quality control when it comes to their software, and therefore their users/customers are not being treated as partners/investors. I'm certainly not a legal scholar, but I think Sonos has opened themselves up to potential class action lawsuits here (or, at least, the threat of lawsuits). My own Sonos system is relatively modest, and was built-up over time. (I may have spent about $2000 on my system over the course of a number of years). But some people have undoubtedly spent upwards of $10,000 building a true home system. It's absolutely ridiculous that Sonos would actively sabotage those systems. (The parallel example might be if Microsfot themselves had released the CrowdStrike update, and were explicitly responsible for the crash of entire computer systems). If this was done in error, that's one thing. But the fact that this was almost certainly done as supplement to a marketing scheme for the new Ace headphone product launch is completely irresponsible. Sonos needs to do more than apologize to their customers/investors/partners/users. They need to be held responsible for months of compromised service-and also held to account for not pulling the app update immediately once it became aware that there were fatal problems-through some kind of rebate/discount program for current users. (For instance, ALL users should be given free access to Premium accounts for one year, to access Sonos Radio features, etc). Otherwise, their entire business model-of selling people products that simply DO NOT WORK without functional software-borders on fraud.

I had Spotify before but now sticking with Apple Music as I switched to Apple Music. Apple Music is better with their sound quality experience than Spotify. Plus I don’t use podcasts at all on Spotify as I focus more on music, which is the reason I switched to Apple Music. Apple Music always the best for me 😊

I still have this problem from time to time and for some reason my arc almost never appears in the app. I think I am going to take the advice of some on reddit and do a full system reset and start from scratch.

I have this toothbrush and love it. I can see the light on the brush. However it has started to not work correctly and come on by itself. I contacted SURI via their website. I hope they fix my issue.

With an app like rotation control your can rotate the screen and you would have the buttons on the left side but closer to your hand! The only thing is that you couldn't use the flip cover.

Hi! Any insight on how immersive reading works on the Palma? I have ADHD and use this feature to read and listen at then same time on my iPhone. Helps me stay focused on the content but my eyes have been dying for eInk. The Palma might be my answer but haven’t found a definitive answer that it’s powerful enough to listen to audible and highlight the text. (Immersive reading). Thanks for letting me know.

Spoiler: this product is crap 💩 now more details: I bought 5 as I was convinced it’s nice, so I could offer to friends or family for Christmas. Ended up waiting several years, it’s bad but not as bad as the fact that I had to throw them away for 2 main reasons: - it’s super super heavy - worst of all, the coffee cup leaks! I actually loves the size and shape of the cup, I ended up not using the bottle at all for to the weight and thought at least I can use the cup, but as the lid is very thin and the thread is thin as well, even if you try to make it perfectly fit (it’s hard to do without properly paying attention), it ends up spilling if you flip the cup. So you can’t put it in a bag. Sooooo, many years of waiting (again not the main complaint), too heavy to use it daily and worst of all: leaking cup 😢

I have to say months and months later I agree with you. I am going to post a follow up review of products from this year and my review has changed for sure. Mainly it's just too heavy. My cup doesn't leak but I am not surprised yours is now. I know the company is addressing issues people have so maybe reach out to them to get the leaking issue resolved?

Nice review! I agree about the proprietary charger and also the fact that it is USB-A and the travel case is USB-C 🤦🏼♂ I didn't personally get the travel case but I was also under the impression it had a built in battery. Just received mine yesterday after their Prime Day sale with 25% off! I think it's really cool being able to post back the brush heads. For repairs they say to send them in but it would be really nice if we could just replace the battery for example on our own at home, cheaper and more sustainable!

So many creatives I know use older machines because they just work. Now that apple silicon is standard I imagine people will hold onto their laptops even longer, just have to replace the battery every 3-4 years.

Good video, and I agree with your main points. For high-end video editing (20+ minute 4k videos), ML, or professional large organization programming the M chip MacBook Pro is the best choice. Otherwise, the M chip Air with 16GB or more is the best option. I like having ports on my laptops, but dongles are cheap. For $20 you can get all the ports you need. Examples: HDMI 2.0, Type C, 2 Type A ports, a micro-SD card reader, and a full-SD card reader. - 13.6-inch M3 Air with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage costs roughly $1,300. - Mokin dongle with all the ports on Amazon selling for roughly $20. Total = $1,320

it's not a game changer, you can live without it, it is 100% noticeable but if you've never seen it before you won't be missing anything, it's not a big deal, just a bit more eyecomfort and shows premium quality and responsiveness not a must have, if you can justify the need for a macbook pro it's nice to have but depending on the work you need to do just grab the air

Great video with a great breakdown. As a person who loves music as art, loves to listen to a full record and just really respects artists who respect the music they make Apple Music takes it for me. Spotify almost seems Taylor to the “singles listener”. Like the younger people who don’t listen to albums just singular songs

I wish I could get to the problems you talk about. Never had the old app so just have paperweight Sonos products. Ok the app fails to play Apple Music, just skips tracks. But I can’t even work out how to detach an era from first setup, so it can be grouped with others. No idea how to “group” 4. Things only work after trying 4 times and watching 10 KZread videos on factory resets. I have factory resetted more times than playing them. Agree with your sentiment entirely. But does anyone have any suggestions for us new Sonos gooses to get past simple steps like this?

Thank you!! Successful de-influence :) I think you might prefer the Kindle Oasis - it has better controls for the lighting (you can change to make it more warm) and it has buttons. They've stopped selling them new, but I bought one used and absolutely love it. I love that it also has a touch screen, so I can also use one of those remote page turners!

Recently me and my partner noticed that when in the car if one of us is using Spotify via car play, that the other person's phone has started auto suggesting joining a jam with the connected phone. This has been our dream feature request for roadtrips with friends or just to help us have more of that best of both worlds shared library while driving. Genuinely think this and the audiobook additions have locked us back into the ecosystem despite the price shifts

Greetings! Thank you SO much for this excellent comparison! I’ve been an Apple Music user & lover for many years, but most of my friends use Spotify, so it’s getting kinda lonely over here, but god DAMN, is it hard to leave. I personally ADORE Apple Music’s “Discovery” radio station & it’s how I discover all new music. Anything that plays on it will be something I’ve never heard before. It does a great job of branching out via ea artists’s “similar artists” & my queue of new music seems to be getting better with use. I love the artist pages too. Only things I wish Apple Music did have, is better options for “liking/disliking” content. As is, we have “Favorite” which only causes that track to play more often whenever listening to playlists it’s on, or your library as a whole. Then we have “Suggest less”, which I believe just makes that song play less often, which doesn’t make sense if done to a song you listened to, but did not add to your library. 🤷🏻♀️ I was super stoked to hear about it allowing SharePlay for non-AM subscribers! I had no idea!🥳

Great review mate. Few quick hacks to work around the issues you mentioned: - If you want to use the UV light but don't want the toothbrush to charge (per their recommendation), you can just slip a small piece of paper between the bottom of the toothbrush and the case's contact points - then it won't charge with the case plugged in, but the UV can still be turned on. (An even easier solution is just to remove the body of the brush from the case and put in the head in there, but then you'd have to keep it somewhere else.) - With the mirror issue, it's one of those adhesives that comes off if you apply a bit of heat. Suri's suggestion on their website is to use a hairdryer and then a credit card or something thin to ply it off. You then just have to buy a new 3M adhesive which is pretty easy to find. It worked for me.

I thought it quite old lithium battery tech that had the memory effect and where you needed to run it down fully and then charge to full to maintain maximum battery capacity (knowing that it will still decline gradually with use)? Maybe that's what they use? It wouldn't be totally surprising that to keep a price point they were using a fairly basic battery but if a weekly sterilisation only takes a month off your battery life and that is measured in years is it that big of a deal? It also raises the question of how often one would really need to disinfect the toothbrush head? I suspect some might overdo this for no real beneft? It would be interesting for someone to test if doing regular 10-15 min charges within a larger charge cycle has a significant effect on long term battery life and health? I suspect it might not make that much difference, while maybe charging to full once a week might induce some sort of memory effect deterioration (hence their charging advice) but that is pure guesswork.

I'm not sure where you're located but in Australia Kindle does have the audible feature. No idea why but its definitely a deal-breaker for me. That's a major reason I'm leaning towards the Palma instead.

I have both services. I use apple Music mostly since I just enjoy using the app much more than spotify just from the ui to the discovery of music and the way they sort the library. It makes me feel more like I'm browsing a record store and collecting my finds in my library. But I keep spotify around for podcasts and for the social features because all my friends and family have spotify. So when I hangout I always have to bust out my spotify to join jam sessions and such or just to share a song to someone.

Great video! I want to get a nice pretty high sound quality but still somewhat portable speaker so was looking at Move 2, but do you think it’s worth the price compared to other comparable cheaper speakers like UE epic boom, JBL, etc?

I think it is worth the price. It isn't the loudest speaker out of the competition but the stereo separation sounds great and because it ties into other Sonos speakers and wifi it has the most potential to grow. Right now the Sonos app is a buggy mess so I wouldn't bank on that today. I am sure throughout the rest of the year it will be much better and eventually be a rough patch in their history.

Things only work after trying 4 times and watching 10 KZread videos on factory resets. I have factory resetted more times than playing them. Agree with your sentiment entirely. But does anyone have any suggestions for us new Sonos gooses to get past simple steps like this?
I know they published an update last week that should help with setting up new products. Unfortunately, it is a crap shoot if it actually solves your problems.
Thank you!! Successful de-influence :) I think you might prefer the Kindle Oasis - it has better controls for the lighting (you can change to make it more warm) and it has buttons. They've stopped selling them new, but I bought one used and absolutely love it. I love that it also has a touch screen, so I can also use one of those remote page turners!
Recently me and my partner noticed that when in the car if one of us is using Spotify via car play, that the other person's phone has started auto suggesting joining a jam with the connected phone. This has been our dream feature request for roadtrips with friends or just to help us have more of that best of both worlds shared library while driving. Genuinely think this and the audiobook additions have locked us back into the ecosystem despite the price shifts
I am right there with you. Their social features and the recent "Jam" launch has made listening music so easy and collaborative with my friends.
it does it if someone is playing spotify on the same wifi too. apple music took this feature as well, but it only works in the car I think

Greetings! Thank you SO much for this excellent comparison! I’ve been an Apple Music user & lover for many years, but most of my friends use Spotify, so it’s getting kinda lonely over here, but god DAMN, is it hard to leave. I personally ADORE Apple Music’s “Discovery” radio station & it’s how I discover all new music. Anything that plays on it will be something I’ve never heard before. It does a great job of branching out via ea artists’s “similar artists” & my queue of new music seems to be getting better with use. I love the artist pages too. Only things I wish Apple Music did have, is better options for “liking/disliking” content. As is, we have “Favorite” which only causes that track to play more often whenever listening to playlists it’s on, or your library as a whole. Then we have “Suggest less”, which I believe just makes that song play less often, which doesn’t make sense if done to a song you listened to, but did not add to your library. 🤷🏻♀️ I was super stoked to hear about it allowing SharePlay for non-AM subscribers! I had no idea!🥳

Great review mate. Few quick hacks to work around the issues you mentioned: - If you want to use the UV light but don't want the toothbrush to charge (per their recommendation), you can just slip a small piece of paper between the bottom of the toothbrush and the case's contact points - then it won't charge with the case plugged in, but the UV can still be turned on. (An even easier solution is just to remove the body of the brush from the case and put in the head in there, but then you'd have to keep it somewhere else.) - With the mirror issue, it's one of those adhesives that comes off if you apply a bit of heat. Suri's suggestion on their website is to use a hairdryer and then a credit card or something thin to ply it off. You then just have to buy a new 3M adhesive which is pretty easy to find. It worked for me.
I thought it quite old lithium battery tech that had the memory effect and where you needed to run it down fully and then charge to full to maintain maximum battery capacity (knowing that it will still decline gradually with use)? Maybe that's what they use? It wouldn't be totally surprising that to keep a price point they were using a fairly basic battery but if a weekly sterilisation only takes a month off your battery life and that is measured in years is it that big of a deal? It also raises the question of how often one would really need to disinfect the toothbrush head? I suspect some might overdo this for no real beneft? It would be interesting for someone to test if doing regular 10-15 min charges within a larger charge cycle has a significant effect on long term battery life and health? I suspect it might not make that much difference, while maybe charging to full once a week might induce some sort of memory effect deterioration (hence their charging advice) but that is pure guesswork.
I'm not sure where you're located but in Australia Kindle does have the audible feature. No idea why but its definitely a deal-breaker for me. That's a major reason I'm leaning towards the Palma instead.

I have both services. I use apple Music mostly since I just enjoy using the app much more than spotify just from the ui to the discovery of music and the way they sort the library. It makes me feel more like I'm browsing a record store and collecting my finds in my library. But I keep spotify around for podcasts and for the social features because all my friends and family have spotify. So when I hangout I always have to bust out my spotify to join jam sessions and such or just to share a song to someone.
Great video! I want to get a nice pretty high sound quality but still somewhat portable speaker so was looking at Move 2, but do you think it’s worth the price compared to other comparable cheaper speakers like UE epic boom, JBL, etc?
I think it is worth the price. It isn't the loudest speaker out of the competition but the stereo separation sounds great and because it ties into other Sonos speakers and wifi it has the most potential to grow. Right now the Sonos app is a buggy mess so I wouldn't bank on that today. I am sure throughout the rest of the year it will be much better and eventually be a rough patch in their history.
