Lots of feel good commentary here. The reality is both the first Harry DeWolfe & Max Bernay have experienced compartment flooding. I am thinking myself the welds literally failed. Plus the NATO ministers would frown ipon its poor deck armaments as substantially weak for even one prolonged aerial attack. This is the perfect example of millenial Canadian ideal, "its good enuf....and keeps Irving in the black." Dismal standard. In a real world conflict emergency, two of these arctic patrol vessels should be able to temporarily replace 1 of our frigates to protect a port city from aerial straffing-bombing. So the frigate can go to war in a carrier group. Today, this is an impossibility. Thats why sailors were uniforms. National defense.

Interesting to see - surprised to see them using a small tug rather than their own boat, but skipper's choice, I suppose!
@ThamesShips11 күн бұрын
I wonder if the use of the tug is a PLA requirement as all the superyachts I have filmed at Georges Stairs have had one. Although I didn't film it, once the mooring process is completed, the tug usually disappears for 30 minutes or so and then brings a floating pontoon which is put up against the yacht to allow easier access.
@ShipsandShipping11 күн бұрын

As this ferry doesn't run anymore, if you are driving from Tilbury to Gravesend, it now takes about 30 minutes and you have to cross the river using the Queen Elizabeth II bridge at Dartford. @@ThamesShips I attended a Dunkirk Little Ships return to Chatham Docks so we were all dressed over and brass all shiny. The Massey Shore Thames Fire Boat decided to do a sail past with the monitor blasting out lovely dock water. The crew of Bluebird of Chelsea presented the Massey crew with there now ruined ships bell for them to polish again. Plus a bottle of gin to sip while doing it. I helped the big Bluebird get away from the dock early, she was hemmed in between boats rafted ahead and astern. So old Lazy Days did a bit of tug work.
