I think the point was Adrian's work was inevitably going to be undone, because humanity just can't help ourselves. It makes Adrian's statement of "Killing millions to save billions." all the more pathetic. His ideologue delusion kept him from seeing the evil he performed.

Rorschach had his endgame already planned out, so well that even the smartest man alive didn't see it coming. Rorschach was more than aware of how dangerous Vieght would be, the distinct likelihood was that he was going to die. In fact, it was all but certain to him. This is why he firstly mailed the journal (he'd never be using it again), why he refused warmer clothing (he'd die from something quicker than hypothermia), why he attempted to suckerpunch Vieght, knowing it wouldn't work (suicide play) & why he insisted Dr. Manhatten finish it (last honest hero). I suspect Rorschach knew his crime-fighting days were drawing to a close due to several factors, namely his aging years, a lack of any intelligence network other than his own investigations, a suspected "mask killer" & a rapidly shifting public narrative that made him the bad guy. Possibly the reason he finally apologises to Dan for years of being an uncooperative, sociopathic hard-line douchbag when they were partners. He was getting his affairs in order.

I saw Watchmen in the theaters and it was really good I got to applaud Zack Snyder for doing this. After I finished watching a movie I went to Barnes & Noble with my father and we got a copy of Watchmen and graphic novel was really good. But if I'm not mistaken in the original graphic novel it was Robert Redford who was running for president in 88 and they didn't want a cowboy in the White House but in the movie they said Ronald Reagan was running for president in 88 and they still didn't want a cowboy in the White House. My father actually loved Ronald Reagan and I believe my grandfather as well he was a very decent president who made America feel great. The first time I ever heard about Robert Redford was in The Watchmen comics and I thought he was fictional that wasn't until I saw Captain America the Winter Soldier and realized he was real and then the last time I seen Robert Redford it was in Avengers endgame and thanks to Captain America he managed to end the war in Washington DC before it ended so that way hydra's New World Order will never happen. That is until Captain America as in Sam Wilson who is by my definition the true successor of Captain Steven Grant Rogers will appear in Captain America New World Order now that we know that Harrison Ford will become the Red Hulk and Timothy Blake Nelson I believe that's his name will return as Samuel Stearns aka the leader

The genius of this ending is how it's both a moment where you find solace knowing Rorschach beat Adrian after all and exposed the truth, but it also makes you think "oh f*ck, is everything about to go back to shit or worse when the news gets out?" One of the best endings to a film this century (yeah I said it) and possibly the best ending to a superhero film ever.

It is interesting that Manhattan, knowing about the diary and the consequences that would occur because of it, did not tell Ozymandias about this. (After the bomb when Manhattan regained the ability to see the future)

He stated he was leaving this galaxy for a less-complicated one. At that point, he left it all (not only in Adrian’s) but all of our hands. He voluntarily stepped away. (Also, upon his return, Mankind wouldn’t be too happy, or worse, they’d worship him as a god in some sort of global Death Cult…)

I know I've seen this movie a hundred times, but everytime this scene comes to an end and Rorschach's narration begins, I always think the intro to 'Walk of Life's by Dire Straights is playing. Wouldn't that just be one Hell of a credits song for this? 😅

Wouldn't Rorschach's journal be hearsay? It doesn't contain any "proof" that Adrian was behind the events in the comic/film. And in a world like that with such a huge change in paradigm, there are bound to be countless conspiracy theories, and Rorschach's will just be one of them.

I gotta say the ending to this movie totally brought out the best in Rorschach, cause in the end he won the war that's going to revel the truth that Adrian Veidt was behind all of it. If there was ever a sequel to it, I'd like too see what would've happened next even though I've never read the comic books to watchmen. I saw this in theaters it was awesome, and I have it on DVD, I'm sure Seymour is definitely going to make headlines for writing a report on Rorschach's journal cause like the comedian said "the world can be joke."

I think the pandemic has put a whole new spin on this plot point. I think the world would be split by varying factions of people who believe Rorschach is a lying psychopath, those who think he told the truth, those who will choose to disregard the revelation anyways as literal world peace had been achieved and every other degree of philosophy in-between. I will say the comic book ending makes the societal response to the fabrication of such a catastrophe a bit harder to predict. The movie ending has the luxury of Dr Manhattan's powers being a starting point for explanation
