This is an awesome cushion! 🎉 Looking forward to the video on the tshirt quilt. I have my son’s t shirts and I want to make that for him. I am also an empty nester but I still work. Many blessings.
You remind me of me. Lol my bird and dog and sewing and creating. Thanks for giving a good tip w using doilies. 😊
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching. 🥰
I was cringing when you decided to dye the doilies but the blue turned out amazing. I hope you make the circle skirt out of a tablecloth. I have one ive been saving for such a project. ❤🎉
Thanks! It is next in line after Nora's T-shirt quilt. Thanks for watching!🥰
The lace could have stayed the cream color, it was pretty. But the blue was amazing. I love it. I love your doilies, it makes it fancy. I will try one now.
Glad to hear it! Be brave, be bold, my Friend. ♥️

Love them, I’ve just made myself some using a pair of dungarees (bibs) I have for the pattern, I up cycled a hand printed Indian cotton throw I found in a charity shop (thrift store)
Sounds super cute! Just keep sewing. 🥰
I'm sorry, I completely understand. I miss your videos, but taking time for yourself is important too.
I appreciate that. Thanks for your support, Sarah. 🥰
Wow that really was a big job! Such a joy to see you happy with the end result!
Yeah, it was crazy. And crazy fun. 🤪 Thanks for watching!
I am glad I found you here! I LOVE upcycling too! I love the video you made!
Thanks so much!🥰
Very cute❤❤
Thanks!🥰
Pouffes were around when I was a kid (the 70's) in Australia. We used to call them "poofs" - no disrespect intended, it was just what we called them.
It's fun to hear what other people call them. My grandma used to call them a "hassock".
I really enjoyed this video. I wish you would make more. I also wish we got to see the other side of the quilt with the shower curtain.
Glad you like them! I am making more, just takes more time now that I'm working full time. I'll keep you posted!🥰
I have remnants of my Grandma’s Christmas tablecloths that I made aprons for my sisters. I can use the remnants and her doilies to make these awesome angels. I love the color of your polish.
Thank you! Christmas tablecloths would be perfect for these angels!
Do you have an Etsy store…I can’t sew so I’d buy one.
I used to have an Etsy store long ago, now I just sell on my website, artfullysew.com. I'm kinda sold out right now, but more to come soon.🥰
I love the lace trim! Rit makes a dye makes a dye for synthetic fabric, just so you know for next time. Xox, Bonnie
Thanks Bonnie! Yes, I saw they make synthetic, but they didn't have it in the denim blue color I wanted, so I improvised. Thankfully it worked great!
thank you for these insights! I just LOVE your door decor!
Thank you so much!
Adorable
Thanks!
Love this!!! But really, wish you were my neighbour because i bet we'd have a blast.
But you are my neighbor! Just keep hanging out here. 🥰 Seriously, thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching. 💕
Great job! I really like the finished look!❤
Thank you so much!!

Awesome! Thanks so much, Rachel! Glad to see you here. 🥰
Aren’t we all scrap hoarders I sure am 😂
Welcome to the club! So glad you are here. 😁
I used to want to finish sewing projects in one day. I now just say it'll get finished when it's finished. I decided to make my own overalls without hardware when I came across your video. They came out awesome.
Thanks! So glad you stopped by. Just keep sewing!
Love the coat. Feel inspired to go for my next project. I was stalled, and I felt a nudge after watching you!
That makes me so happy! Exactly what I hoped these videos would do. Share and tag artfullysew when you finish it!🥰
Love the video. I was thinking of using a cotton crocheted doily and putting it into cut out sections on a denim jacket (in a large oval or round shape). Do you think the same stabilizer might work?
Thanks for watching! Are you going to cut the doily? The cut edges might need to be sewn under or it will fray. I have used a product called "Fray Check". It's a clear glue that seals the edges of fabrics that fray easily. Let me know how it turns out!
@@ArtfullySew yes, I had to cut it. What I did was first use a stitch witch kind of product to lay it down on the denim. I think used the fabric tack glue between those two fabrics and a denim seam tape I made from old jeans. It looks good. But I would like to do one where I cut out the denim (just not by the panels), such as a heart design. It is definitely a process.
I am refiguring my baby quilt made by my mat. Grandmother into 3 separate quilts. I gave 3 children. The quilt was very heavy. As there were many areas of seams coming apart, I decided to redo it. The middle layer was 4 layers of blue and white heavy brocade curtain. The backing was an off white old baby blanket with satin edge. The satin was a mess. I took that off. I’m going to gently wash it and wring it out in the washer. Not going to put in dryer. Laying out in sun on a sheet separating it from the ground and another sheet for the top to prevent sun bleaching unless it was needed.. (That is what my grandma did to her blankets. The brocade unfolded would still be the batting part but in 2 layers instead of 4. The backing is going to be one of the blankets I took them home from the hospital. I had 2 of those each. It’s all in process. I’ll use one of my cotton skirts as a binding.
Sorry it took me so long to respond! How's the project coming along?
Just came across your channel and am excited to explore your videos!😮
Awesome! Thank you!
I love your entertaining and educational/helpful video! You have a great personality. Thank you-Your blanket coat is great!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely am sending hugs from one Mom (empty nester) to another. I love your creativity it makes my heart happy ❤❤❤❤. Blessings to you and your beautiful children ❤❤
Thank you so much!🥰
@@ArtfullySew you’re so welcome 😘🙏🥰
I just recently found your channel and you are such an inspiration! I love your creativity ...not just in your projects, but how you create your video content. I was touched and inspired by your courage to share your empty nest situation and sure could identify having gone through it myself. Going through it, I can the multitude of opportunities that arose from going through it. Through the process, I was lead to my wounded parts - They showed me how I felt I wasn't enough. I continue to work through it by loving and listening to this part of me and exploring my relationship with God, knowing I am enough and I'm never alone. I've also been working on finding joy from within. I guess I'm saying, for me, so much growth came from being an empty nester. I love how you are using this situation to help others by sharing about it. You cat is soooo sweet and your little doogie too! They make me smile - and so do you! Thank you for all you give here on this channel.
Awh, thanks for all the encouragement. I truly appreciate your kind words. Thanks so much for watching. 💕
Glad you’re back
Thanks, Tiffany! Glad to see you.☺️
I have spent hours and hours and hours, etc......trying to find a Lady Lancaster pattern (which obviously is not available, duh.) But you have captured one of them amazingly well! I actually never thought of trying to develop my own pattern because I NEED exact instructions. The lapel is what I also prefer. So just in case you might like to offer a pattern on let's say Etsy - I would not complain. In fact, I would buy it. But regardless, thanks for the inspiration. Your sewing, quilting, crafting, design space is wonderful. Really enjoyed this video!!
I LOVE Lady Lancaster coats! Have you seen the skirts? Amazing! I don’t really have a written pattern, cause it changes every time I make one. I know you said you need exact instructions, but I would ask, why not try it? By using an old quilt or blanket that no one uses, you could experiment and see what happens. Trace the shape of a coat you already own that you like. What do you have to lose? Be brave, be bold! I hope you try it. ☺️
@@ArtfullySew Now that I have seen Lady Lancaster coats, none of the other patterns interest me. The skirts are stunning! The one you made with the lapel is so similar to the one I love most in her line. It's called the Aunt Ethel. You can turn it upside and wear it that way as well for a different look. It is longer since the lapel is at the bottom unfolded. She demonstrates that in videos that accompany each jacket. I might make a mock up first because I actually have several heirloom Mennonite hand quilted gems that I might want to make into a jacket. I used to display them, but they have faded. I really hate storing them. But I also quilt so I just might try my hand at improv like you have done. The chenille is such a great touch. And I really like the raw edges instead of the meticulous piecing! I actually think my mother had a set of sheets like you used for the lining! I am trying to relax and let the creative juices flow. I do a lot of fabric collage which has been a welcome deviation from traditional quilting. Thanks again for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to trying my hand with your approach. You calmly let things develop. You make changes if you aren't satisfied. It looked like so much fun. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
I am so inspired by this creative project and ways to use your scraps. I have been donating my textiles to Goodwill and they up cycle. I like this so much better. You are awesome. Be proud of yourself in your parenting 3 children and being the best Mom.
Awh, thanks Cindy! I’m glad you are inspired as well. I’m really enjoying the cushion and use it everyday (but have to fight the dog and cat to use it!). I hope you give it a try!❤️
That pillow looks great and just has the perfect size :) When deciding where to put the zipper just watch for the material. A bulky zipper might nake scratches in wood flooring or at least strange noises. I stuff my scraps into pet beds I then donate to the local pet shelter. And as you said, its good for worn out clothes, too. When I just moved out from home I semi regular phoned. Now its more like every to every second week. I like having time with my parents although it is not too often in person because they live a 6-hour drive away from me. Hope you'll find a new and maybe similarly rewarding purpose. You videos are always a joy to watch and I could very well imagine you as a crafts and arts teacher 😊
Awh, thanks for the encouragement! ❤️ Yes, other people have warned about scratching the floor. I hadn’t thought of that! Maybe I could get away with it on the top seam. With an invisible zipper it might not bother my legs nor would it scratch the floor. I’m open to any suggestions, cause this 8 inch zipper is ridiculous!
@@ArtfullySew I added my Zipoer in the sidepanel. Just about in the middle and horizontal instead of vertical. With an invisible zipper or a matching zipper (or using the zipoer as a design element) that should work. Have fun with your "round 2"
My father became my best friend as I became an adult, he was always my dad but he became a friend as well. And he got to play parent when I would come over for a visit and would always put on a good meal and took care of me. Something i looked forward to when I would visit. He is gone now but I have fond memories of my dad as a good friend and the relationship we had, me being an adult and the lovely meals he would make every time I visited.
Oh, how sweet. Glad to hear! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Oh yeah I just remembered your comment about liking the sound of the scissors. Just last night I was talking about the time I cut my bangs down to the scalp at 4 yrs old. I remember it well. I kept cutting because I loved the sound of the scissors. 😂😂😂True story
Great story!🤣 I hope you have pictures. The sound reminds me of home ec class. Thanks for watching and for the encouragement.🥰
Oh how I wish my mother would’ve taken a picture. That was in the 60’s.
Missed you SO much! I can relate to the scraps, empty nesting, changing our purpose and sadness. I’ve been healing slowly from trauma and it zaps away my ambition too and then I’m hard on myself which is ridiculous. The cushion is fabulous! All of your creations are. You bring a lot of sunshine into my life. I’m a homebody and don’t socialize much anymore so you matter very much. ❤. Be easy on yourself during this transition.
Thank you so much for your encouragement and your grace. It brings me some sunshine! So nice to know you understand. Thanks for watching and take care of yourself too. 😘
Most zippers on pouffes that I have seen were either on the bottom seam, or just straight across the bottom of the pouffe. My grandma's logic was: the living room floor was tile, so that wouldn't get damaged by the zipper, but it was smooth enough not to damage the zipper itself, so she could get one with it nicely invisible on the bottom. Bonus: that kind of zipper puts less strain on the seams, so your pouffe lasts longer. She did not consider how well this logic applied to small children, because her children were grown and had moved out. Then my brother was born. The rest of the story goes as you can imagine. It ends with her learning how much it costs to have the zipper replaced on a leather pouffe. Also, if weight of a meditation pillow is an issue, you could attach a handle on the side so it's easier to move, maybe?
Ha! Brothers do have a way of busting the best of plans. I do have to do something different cause the zipper is WAY too small. I did consider a handle, but didn’t think I would like the look, visually. It’s not to bad to move about. I do have to keep adjusting the stuffing and adding more now and then. That’s why the zipper has been so frustrating. Let me know if you think of anything. ☺️
love it
❤
God bless you ❤
Thanks for the blessings ☺️
Love, Love, Love this cushion. I might have to make one. :) I know how you feel with the kids gone, it takes a while to adjust. Keep Busy and Keep Sewing!
Sew true, Angela (Hardy har har). I hope you do make a cushion! It’s really fun to make, although I do have to fight the dog and cat to use it myself! ❤️
