Good informational video, but your audio quality needs some help to make it easier to understand your narration! Planning to do the Cashmere to Chelan and back in two weeks. Looks like fun!

Yes, the audio is horrible. It's due to the camera I was using, which has no capability for a MIC input. It's a GoPro Hero Session 5. About a month ago I upgraded to a new camera setup with external MIC. I rode this section again in early July this year with the new camera. I need to get the new video edited from that ride. The audio is much better. What day are you planning on doing this section? I'm guessing you live nearby? I'm in Spokane and ride that area a lot.

Go 3.5 miles and turn at that point. So if the roll chart says left turn .8, you will go .8 miles and turn left there. That’s the first turn on the roll chart for this year’s Dirty Face dual sport route.

Hi Doug! I have been working on a web tool for generating printable rollchart routes that is going live at the end of this month. It allows the user to define Routes, which have sections, which have individual instructions. Part of what sets my site apart is its integration with Google Maps to generate routes. I have an "About" page that explains the site. Would it be ok if I linked this video in the section explaining what a roll chart is and how it is used? This is very instructional and I know this information would be valuable to my users.

I am pretty sure that Yamaha engineering Team done a good job with the bike as it is, its really no need for any of your must have parts. The headlight protector is good to have if you ride a lot of gravel with mates. All of the other stuff is just a result of good marketing. Ride your T7 first, enjoy it as it is and decide what you really need. Have fun with your new bike. You mod list will be different, depending on your riding, and the destinations you want to go. My Aussie T7 has a complete different setup than the European one, just because where I go and how these continents are.

Hmm, Half of this list is not first priority in my humble opinion. There are far more important and beneficial things to take care about. My "before buy" list: 1. Shock spring for your weight. 2. Front springs for your weight (if needed) 3. The fix break pedal 4. Center stand 5. Crash bars (I ordered only lower ones- less weight, lower cog. They seem more than enough) 6. Aftermarket exhaust 7. One finger clutch (agree) 8. Rear rack 9. Skid plate (I bought acerbis plastic one - light, quite, and looks nice) 10. Foam hiflow filter + high flow intake cover 11. Fuel controller. 12. Gear shift rod stabilizer When I get my bike one of the first things I plan is tubeless conversion.

I always use all metal valve stems on my trailers because I run external TPMS sensors on the valve stems. Rubber valve stems can flex with the added weight of the TPMS sensors, leading to failure.

"Cold Feet" was a huge part of why I almost didn't buy it. I'm probably going to sell it. I broke my wrist riding my KTM in May of 2023 and didn't ride all of last summer. I took the T7 out for a short ride in September. I kind of have a different perspective on the type of riding I want to do going forward and the T7 doesn't fit that style.

This brings up memories... I used to own a 2002 "S" model also., it was my hard core dual sport. I did the following to it: FCR carb 435cc Athena Big Bore kit. Hotcams (intake and exhaust) Yoshimura full exhaust Front forks had .50 springs and were revalved by Eddie Sisneros of Thumper Talk fame. Eddie was the DR-Z man! Rear shock had a 6.0 spring and Race Tech valving Acerbis gas tank like your bike has. That was a great bike. I race "B" in the desert and rode it pretty hard, at a B level race pace, at least until the weight of it wore me down. One time I rolled up to the local riding spot and there was a group of guys on new KTMs. I asked if I could tag along and the ringleader dismissively said "sure, if you can keep up". I quickly determined that they were all well below my moderate speed and made it a point to wheelie past and roost all of them. I'm kind of a dick that way! At the end of the ride the same guy said "God help us if he gets a KTM. That was years ago, I actually do ride a 300 XC now, and the DRZ dual sport was replaced by a Husky 701 Enduro for actual dual sporting. It is funny though, my modded DR-Z was heavy but it worked well if ridden the way it wanted to be ridden, on the gas, arcing lines, surfing that fat midrange power, steering with the rear. The DR-Z had a nice "just ride the sh%t out of me, it will be fine" quality to it. In contrast, my 701,which is Rottweiler tuned, says "ride the sh%t out of me in the dirt and I will kill you". With 74 HP on tap the 690 platform demands respect 😆 Enjoy that DR-Z! Ya can't kill 'em and it is fun to tune and mod them. I wish the bike had a truly wide ratio 6 speed though. If it did I'd probably still have it!

I remember Eddie from the days when I frequented the TT forum. I always remember that you could see the number of members reading each forum section prior to the various forum software upgrades they did, which kind of made the forum less popular. The DRZ section ALWAYS had the most members reading it. It was almost always over 100 people in there. In my early years of DRZ ownership, there were about 8 people in my circle of riding friends, we ALL had DRZs. I'm the only one left with a DRZ, and most of them quit riding altogether.

@@DualSportDoug Find new friends 😂 I'm 61 and almost everybody I ride with is younger than me. I have gotten a few guys interested in the dual sport thing. As you know they are just too much fun. I enjoy exploring on my Husky as it can comfortably do freeway and yet go anywhere ya reasonably want to go on a 350 pound bike, have even ridden some fairly rough single track on it. I have some slower riding friends, sometimes I ride the big 701 as it slows me down. Then when I ride my 300 I rip on it as it feels weightless!

Great bikes, I have the SM version. I don't really know what to say as far as replacing it for the riding you want to do. Japanese bikes are great but some of them that aren't built in Japan anymore and just feel a bit cheap to me. Adventure bikes are pretty cool but can be expensive and a lot heavier than bikes like DRZ's. I used to own an Africa Twin and it was great but I love the little DRZ.
