Secrets and Spies Podcast

Secrets and Spies Podcast

Secrets and Spies has a loyal following and is reportedly highly respected in intelligence and counterterrorism circles.

The podcast started in 2016 and was originally titled "The Dry CleanerCast" as it was connected to the short spy film "The Dry Cleaner". In 2020 the show changed its name and, since then has grown in popularity.

The podcast aims to seek out and engage in meaningful discussions with experts and practitioners about espionage, terrorism, geopolitics and intrigue.

Not all episodes are directly about espionage as some topics, such as terrorism are pretty complex and require a look at the underlying ideology behind it to lead to a deeper understanding of the topic. Also, due to the nature of the podcast topics, some episodes delve into the contemporary politics behind an issue. The podcast does its best to remain balanced. However, the show does take a critical view of the MAGA movement, far-left/far-right politics and Trumpism.

You and Dr. James Giordano need to read my work: “Solving Havana Syndrome and Biological Effects of RF Using the Hodgkin-Huxley Neuron Model” I’ve solved the mechanism of why pulsed, radio and microwave energy causes the neurological symptoms of Havana Syndrome. The thermoelastic pressure waves that result from pulsed electromagnetic waves, that causes the microwave hearing effect, also affects ionic currents and membrane voltages, affecting neurological signalling that then causes the various effects. We can work this out logically and mathematically using the Hodgkin-Huxley Neuron Model and the Nernst equation. On request I'll provide a free copy of this book or a review paper of the book.

Personally i knew a law school student. He went to Cuba on a field trip where none other than Fidel Castro spoke to the class. Cuban intel had no doubt checked his background, and when he got home he got a package from the Cuban government advertising the wonders of Cuban socialism and contact info. If Cuban intel made the effort to recruit a random lawyer, their overall campaign must have been massive.

Thank you Gabriel for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Are there any good books or speakers on Cuban Intelligence you could recomend? We would love to do an episode on that topic.

@secretsandspiespodcast The double life of Fidel Castro by Juan Sanchez has a insiders view of Cuba's intelligence operations. Birds eyes view. They wiped out Cuban anti Castro opponents, helped by stiff arming the CIA leading to humiliation at the bay of pigs while being trained by the Soviets and Czech. Cuban intelligence was involved in every far left movement in Latin America from FARC to the FMLN, European groups such as the ETA and in the mid east the PLO etc. Their operations in Africa, to this day, have a lasting legacy as many people in post communist/colonial countries such as Ethiopia, Congo, South Africa and Angola still view Cuba and Castro in a favorable light. Since this subject is so vague my opinion is to focus on Cuban intelligence/military campaigns in Africa during the cold war which offer the most compelling stories, for example in the Congo with Che Guevara and the CIA response with their own Cuban exiles leading to a secret war between Cubans in Africa and that's only one example. Like you pointed out, today DGIs most significant aspect is their cooperation with both the Chinese and Russians against their hated advisory, the United States as experts in humit.
