Those horrible Ipad-cars!! Even the new E-class which is not an EV has a terrible interiour! Even if I could afford one, and I like both older and lots of the newer ones, I will never ever get that type of E-class.

It would help the entire ev car industry if a standardized battery pack would be developed. Like AAA batteries but on a big scale. Proprietary battery designs unique to each car model will be the single most problematic issue when it’s time to change it out or it gets damaged. EV cars are basically like iPhones, totally disposable in a few years because maintaining them doesn’t make financial sense in the long run. It’s going to be very sad for the environment in 10-20 years time.

My prediction. Some high end cars will have big gasoline engines. They dont care about mileage. Most normal cars will be hybrid or plug in hybrid. Can do say 40 miles on electric then gasoline takes over. Much smaller battery. And lastly companies like Tesla and BYD will do electric cars.

The sales manager at my local MB dealership told me recently that he had just shipped out 7 electric models to California because this market shows no interest in electric Benzes. If they want EVs they buy Teslas.

The video is ridiculous, wake up man nothing lasts forever, yeah its a shame to see what vehicles enter the yard but theres also a difference between repairing a vehicle and reparing a vehicle thats more than what its worth so yeah people scrap there vehicles because of the costs and just dont wanna bother with that

EVs are an evolutionary dead end and that market has already ran out of virtue signaling buyers for entry level Teslas which does not bode well for Mercedes regardless of any flaws their current EV offering may have. The demand just isn't there.

240D and 2015 Nissan Leaf owner here. The Leaf is a great car around town and my battery health is 11/12 bars. On the flip side, I’ve heard issues with getting replacement battery packs with first gen Leaf’s. I can’t see the Mercedes Classic Center maintaining parts to rebuild packs 30 years from now.

Modern Mercedes are made to last 6 years and then the electronics and plastic parts in it start to break down. Classic Mercedes if well maintained would last decades with no major problems. As for Electric cars I don't think they are perfected yet . I think one should wait at least ten more years before considering to buy an Electric car in my opinion.

The whole issue with electric vehicles is that they aren’t being brought to market by consumer demand. They are being brought to market because the government has determined that’s what we will be allowed to drive in the future. This skews the market so that we produce way more EV’s than anybody wants. Hence, they’re piling up at dealerships unsold. The free market would address this imbalance if allowed. But that won’t happen.

Thought of selling my 126. But everytime when I park my car, turn to look back at it, it's still look gorgeous and it feels like I've just bought it. And the fact that they don't build them anymore, just makes it even more difficult to sell it.

You lost me on w202 that car was an absolute nightmare even in it's day. As far as breaking down it was always some vaccum actuated party failure be it windows or locks them neutral switches wiring harnesses. I never worked on it based on my age at the time but geez it had Gremlins. I will say though it's still on the road today and once the kinks were resolved it seemed to stop asking for stuff

I don't care for ken petsonally but he was instrumental in making it possible for me to restore my first 300td. I'm on my third and I no longer need his stuff but I dont regret any of it. Im happy to pay a person to come up with a good solution with step by step instructions. Even over pay sometimes. I don't disagree with your assessment on the car however. I wish you would make tools and instructions. I'd even help :)

Pierre does make some good points, of course, but the thing is, he doesn't like working on the W140, which really colours his viewpoint. He has mentioned several times that it's time-consuming to work on them, and that the complexity makes it a pain to troubleshoot problems. However, if you work on your own car, or live in a place where labour is cheap, and fixing it isn't expensive, then it's a great buy for people who want a massive, imposing and iconic car. I live in Thailand most of the time, and there are loads of them, rust-free, and lots of small independent garages that can fix any and all problems for a very reasonable fee.

Thanks for the nice comments. 4 months ago I rebuild my engine on my S123 /1982 of 440k. I did the work myself, and I am not a mechanic. The valve guides and valves are VERY hard to find. They came from Norway, Egypt, USA and Germany. Parts alone cost me AUD$4k. Now it feels like a new car. I know that it was a good investment, compared with very new models.

I have a 1973 450sl that cranks but will not start. Not even on gas or starter fluid. Pretty sure there is no spark. It appears to have the new Bosch coil silver one. Two new resistors, but they are exactly the same. 012 078 with blue band. Wish I could send pics. What should I check. I got the car as is.

I like very much all the information you share even when I own a 2005 slk 350. I know this channel is for classic Mercedes but if you could do just one video talking about this car (your opinion about how reliable they can be and common issues to be expected and when to check timing chain and transmission it would be easier to share this with at least with the slk community (that is really big) and you can gain more followers. Best!

Yeah if I want to be driven, I’ll take public transportation or order an Uber. The ICE, done properly, is still superior to EVs overall and the intentions of those pushing this unproven technology on us have nothing to do with saving the environment.

Hey Pierre, about what you said that auto companies make crappy controls, maybe they do it for some simple reason, e.g. moving all the controls to a touch screen is way more cheap because software is much easier than hardware engineering. Or because Elon woke up one day with the idea of ultra minimalistic design and everyone else copies Tesla. Exactly the same with phones with glass back: they are fingerprint magnets, make the phone more fragile and slippery, but Apple did it and everyone copies Apple. It doesn't mean necessarily that a smartphone lobby one day decided to put glass backs to make us spend more for phones. Maybe we just vote with our wallet and we vote like idiots. Every car company is moving their controls to touch screens, even brands who are not investing in self driving cars, brands that used to 'sell' driving experience and are not competitive in the AI race. Brands like BMW or Porsche. Why would they make their car controls crappy as well, instead of trying to keep a slice of the 'purists' market? Why unless it's just another stupid trend? My point is, you have no way of knowing and proving to me that the auto industry is making car controls worse because they want people to lose their confidence and start trusting self driving. Well, for one thing, I don't think these people are actually smart enough to plan ahead and pull of something like this. These are theories and truther talk, not facts.
