    I am Japanese and happened to know about the Dalton Highway and found this video. At first I thought the narrator was a professional voice actor. Great voice, great video, and great choice of music. I enjoyed the drive in a distant exotic country. Thank you very much.

    I wouldn't say sitting in a chair in a climate controlled environment with no effects of the weather is an "adventure" to drive up to Tuktoyaktuk. People doing it on motorcycles and bikes is an adventure.

  • @WingsandWheelsAlaska

    We did adventure motorcycles for 20 years. No less of an adventure in a van than on the bikes. We just don’t need to sleep in a tent anymore and it’s a bit safer to enjoy the scenery :)

  • @corblom11

    Good idea, only concern I could have is that the wool may retain moisture where as the closed cell foam had no ability to do that. Also be careful not to over stuff and compress the wool. The insulating value is maintained by the air that is trapped in it. So you need air pockets in it. Solid wool is not as good as loose wool. So try to pull it back and let it fill the void loosely. Avoid using it where it will collect moisture. Don't want that beautiful van to rust from the inside.

    I used to do this as a kid in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. We called it aired down and winter spinning. Sometimes we would pull a 50 ton dump truck inner tube and try to bounce each other off. Wouldn't do that part now! Still lots of fun. I enjoyed this video a lot! Thanks to you and Ms. Cynthia!

    Why anyone buys German I'll never understand. Who designs an air filter housing to use screws? 3 latches is what everyone else uses. And why is that cabin air filter so difficult to remove and install? Germans have to be the worst engineers on the planet. It must be true that the US took all the best German engineers after WWII.

    Jim, it's good to see you out and about, even if it's really cold outside. I liked that you mentioned that you grew up out there and that your family has a hunting cabin near there. One of these days, you should sit down by the fire and tell us all some of those stories. I'm confident that everyone would enjoy hearing them. Seeing you drive right by the glacier was amazing! I've only been up close to glaciers a few times, and it's always incredible the blue that they are, and seeing you walk through the glacier was just magnificent. You're so lucky to be able to do things like that. The scenery with the mountains was also incredible. It truly is remarkable country up that way. The night driving shots revealed one thing I've never liked about the LED headlights. There's a clear termination line where the light cuts off. It's not a problem in many applications, but on less-than-level roads, this gives oncoming drivers the feeling that you're flashing your high beams at them when you really aren't. The older halogens didn't have that problem. Thanks for bringing us along Jim. Please be sure to tell Cynthia hi for me.

  • @WingsandWheelsAlaska
    @WingsandWheelsAlaska5 ай бұрын

    Hi Brian! Always great to hear from you! I love going out in that area. I’ll save the hunting stories until we get to sit around a fire together :). I agree I am not a huge fan of LED lights either but it seems like they are the new “thing.” Did you see the moose when we were on the way back? The other Bronco had his brake lights on and it was crossing up into the brush. We saw about 15 out there but too far to get good shots of them. I wish it would have been a clear day but the snow made it more challenging. Hope you are doing well!

    In a previous video you mentioned improving the bed by using 7" of memory foam. Do you use the memory foam on top of the mattress or did you remove the mattress? If you are using it on top of the mattress, assume you must store it elsewhere. Also, would like to know the maker of the memory foam you selected. Love your videos -- we've made so many changes based on your recommendations.

    Very much enjoy your videos . With this I am not trying to be disrespectful to you . But I must say as an animal lover , your dogs are beautiful and I’m sure they get a lot of exercise. But they are quite under weight . My veterinarian always said you can feel a dogs ribs , but you should never see the ribs and should be fed at least twice a day . Sadly it has become increasingly difficult for me to watch .
