I love when you do these. It inspires me to go through my own knits. Right now they're in a bag in the back of my yarn room closet, as I have intentions to repurpose the yarn...but I know it'll just sit there. I should just send them to new homes. I do want to learn fractal spinning, but I know I prefer the way stripes and color controlled yarns look. (Yes I'm a bit of a control freak) Now to get back to other requirements. Like the test knits I'm participating in and the kal I'm a part of and and and ... 😅

I thought the “instructions” meant opening all four of the skeins on “the first” day - and doing a gradient+fractal (1/2 + (1/3 + 1/3) or something) with the total length of the 4 days, but that might be cheating? :P And good on you for taking the time you need :)

The colors of the fiber are lovely. 🥰 One of the things it’s good to do when you have braids is to unbraid the whole thing and kind of shake it/ wave it back and forth to introduce air to make it fluff up more.

There are no real Tour de Fleece rules...I use it as motivation to spin every day, no matter what. Other spinners make other plans...we just all spin \(^-^)/

I remember my first raw fleece😍… can totally relate to the enthusiasm! If you’re interested, I would recommend BF fibre arts and her ‘No fleece left behind’ videos. I’ve found her method extremely helpful for heavier vm fleeces, shorter staple lengths and those with a bit more 2nd cuts. I use either one of my hand cards or flicker brush and find it a lot less stress on my wrists😊

about your bobbin situation: someone in the Camp Wooligan group gave the tip to use cardboard TP-rolls or paper towel rolls as storage bobbins and it has been really helping me to clear bobbins when I need to!

If the news are bothering you you could try combing the fiber. I (try) to comb first for the very best prep, then I put it on the drum carder for the second quality. I am loving watching your fiber prep journey. I have been scouring and prepping fleece for a while now but I still get all the feels and your excitement is contagious!

It's the Vertices Unite by Stephen West! I didn't do any of the striping in the pattern and just used a single skein for each section. It's one of my absolute favorite makes!
