To think this is the same copland who wrote the romantic 3rd symphony... Outrageous!
Thank you
INCREDIBLE
I’m doing Choir for CCA and we will be singing this in 4 different languages (English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil) for NDP. On August 8, Me and everyone in Choir will be singing the song in front of the whole school (Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School). I’m fluent in English, learning Chinese, know 4 words in Malay and know 0 words in Tamil (I already had CCA)
Dance 1 is oboe torture
La page 37 de l'édition Boosey est une honte faite au monde de l'édition ! 🤣
2:20 reminds me of They Shall Run and Be Free.
There is a great story attached to this piece. Claude T Smith was a 1st chair Horn player in college. His Senior year a Freshman beat him out for 1st chair. Many years later Col. Arnald Gabriel asked Smith to write a piece for the Air Force band that they could not play, so he wrote Festival Variations. Coincidentally the Principal Horn player in AF band was actually the person who beat him out for 1st chair in College. The guy came up to Smith during the rehearsal and said, “I absolutely love the piece, but did you have to make the Horn parts so damn hard?”. Smith looked at him and said, “GOTCHA!!!!”
did not realize you were the same channel as the one that puts up score videos lol
Handel, the best composer for choirs ! ... and Beethoven for instrumental
Would love to see it with Euphonium B.C.

0:00 I. Nocturne, Op. 13, No. 4 3:41 II. Monks and Raisins, Op. 18, No. 2 5:04 III. Sure on this shining night, Op. 13, No. 3 7:38 IV. I hear an army, Op. 10, No. 3
In the late 1960's this was the required piece for the Ohio state high school concert band competition. They wanted something that nobody had heard before so it was a level playing field. The first few rehearsals were train wrecks because we didn't know if we were doing it right. Once we got a handle on it, we could recognize the beauty of it.
Thank you so much for sharing this score!!!
チューバ吹きがつい吹いちゃうヤツ(^^)
I hardly recognize this as music written by Barber. Notes?
Is it just me or did John Williams get his ‚Battle of the Heroes‘ theme for Star Wars 3 from the recurring horn motif at e.g. 20:41 ? When stealing always take from the best ^^

You never hear this glorious music in concert halls these days. What shame. I'd rather hear this than the music from Psycho or Star Wars...again.
