Finished the set yesterday (sadly I had to get the retail version so no bonus disc for me) I enjoyed the entire set. All the movies had something to offer and I was never bored. The Dragon Lives Again was my favorite. So batshit crazy and fun.
With the recent news of Cheng Pei Pei’s passing, I finally opened up the Arrow Blu-ray that was given to me for helping out re-translating the English subs. I put my heart into that translation. Even though the film isn’t my favorite, I felt the movie still deserved a respectable translation, especially because the film is very important in the history of HK cinema. The original subs on the IVL dvd were atrocious. I’m not too crazy about the color grading of the 4K Specrum release. Anyway, thanks for the video comparison.
They are both great transfers. Eureka version is a little better than Vinegar Syndrome, but still, both are great transfers.
Did anyone try this region B blu-ray in a region A North American player to see if it plays. I have several UK region B blu-rays that actually play in my region A player here in Canada.

Finally got my copy and watched the 1st two films. Loving this set and the films are SO GOOD. Radiance is just firing on ALL CYLINDERS. Cannot wait to see the 3rd film! Great video fam!

8:16 So is this a comparison of the DD vs the 4K? No comparisons between the two BD's?
There is no need to compare it with the 88 Films Blu-Ray to their 4K. Is the same color grade as the 4K. The only difference is the HDR that gives the picture an overall pop.
ah, that makes sense. I'm sticking with the DD blu, its enough of an upgrade from the DVD for me, plus I'm region A so I wont be restricted to the region free player. Keep up the good work.
@daikaijureview6001 No problem with that. Like Peter mentioned it has the same extras as the DD Blu-Ray. I’m keeping that disc just for the grindhouse feeling of the beat up image.

I compared the Blu Ray (88 films ) to my Chinese steelbook edition, and I found out that the steel-book is superior. the Chinese ver has a far better viewing experience ! more in your face viewing experience.
Is the same transfer as the DD/RoninFlix disc. You see the same print damage as well.

It has the same opening as the 88 films version With original credits
So does the laserdisc. This is a new transfer that was done not too long ago. That Chinese Blu-Ray is an old master.
Good luck on your commentary tracks - not sure if you saw the new Kino Lorber video on their YT channel but their main dude said they are looking for people to do commentaries for action and horror films so maybe hit them up!

This has to do more with licensing reasons. They have released dual region releases with MVD and Arrow Video.

The accordion was probably the best I’ve seen in terms of quality and getting the discs in and out with no problem. Already checked out the enter the clones doc and was good. Looking forward to diving into the set!

Great video as always. I'm looking forward to a picture comparison between Eureka and Spectrum 😊 which is released later in july. I also have the Hong Kong Film Archive version on Blu Ray which is a pretty cool edition but with burnt in subs which take away some of the atmosphere.

So funny !!! I watched Goodbye Bruce Lee , His Last Game of Death and in the deleted scenes there is a tower fight scene where Bruce Li fights a Muhammad Ali lookalike who fights with his mouth as well as his fists !!!!
That was a great interview guys. Overall it turned out really good and glad you could get this exclusive. Just some unsolicited advice, during future discussions leave out the background music, and try to have a mic(s) when you're recording because the sound can be faint and difficult to hear
I appreciate you. We were not going to have music in the background but due to all the noise around the hotel inside and out we decided to drown that out. This was last minute and we didn’t expect to have all four in the room. This experience taught us we need to invest in some microphones to avoid something like this again. Thanks for the feedback fam 🙏🏻
