This is one of the most thoughtful, respectful treatments of the subject I've ever seen. Preservation of these life-ways keeps our collective American memory alive. Excellent work. How do we get more of this?
Love it❤❤❤❤
I love this channel
Hahaha, de grap over de ui en de banjo😂! Jullie daar weten wel hoe jullie je door God gegeven talenten moet inzetten om iedereen blij te maken. Zo heerlijk🤩✨
This music is alive and well with Nova Scotia Acadians ❤️🇨🇦flag
Banjo's hard enough, but fretless banjo..., dang! She's talented in so many different ways it's almost unfair.
The one lady is so confident, she is a real girl. God bless em, again!
Born in Tennessee raised in Hammond Louisiana raised on this music!!
Great presentation. These are the things that need to be written down and documented, and videoed, so they’re not lost to antiquity. Thank you.
I’m so glad I came upon this video today. Dede, I remember like it was yesterday the first time I heard you sing it. Now, as then, I am stunned and moved by the beauty of your voice and the presence of your performance.

This isn't exactly what I searched for, but I decided to watch it and Mr. Lily caught my eye. Him and his wife, RIP, are both very distant cousins of mine.
Jesse's new mandolin he's current using is a McCLANAHAN. Made in a West Virginia's private home shop
Great Artist! Promised new songs if I paid money, but never received. Told me he would work on it, but I never heard from him again - simply, just took my money and walked away.
Can’t get enough of this
I love her singing, everything about her.
She's way too good!
Yeah you right
Is that Casey henry on banjo? Why didn't she take a lead ?

my boy jesse !!!!!
i 100% believe there is state involvement in the promotion of rhiannon giddens. the "bluegrass craze" is too white and the state is worried about the ideological problems of having something that white people like so they push this identitarian "civil rights" religion stuff to "liberalize folk music and bluegrass." i get nothing but government vibes when i see rhiannon giddens. she is propped up by state and government culture initiatives. before you call me a "foil hat" guy, look up "the congress for cultural freedom." in america we have had government agencies doing cultural stuff all the time. I 100% believe the promotion of rhiannon giddens, by literal government outlets like PBS, the smithsonian, etc. she is a state actor and a "official state musician" just like the ussr used to have. we have done stuff like this for years, with jazz and folk and everything else. her rise to fame is not organic, but a continuation of the state project of civil rights.is that bad? no, but it is dishonest and prevents organic development of music and culture, which is antithetical to freedom.
I'm a german european, and I do love the all of you!
@@RomkoMojschewitsch you can just say you're German, we know it's in Europe 🤣😂🦃
This was a very interesting documentary and I loved hearing the oral history. However, some of the statements made by the narrator are factually and historically incorrect. She says there was a “judeo-christian tradition of misogyny”. This is a laughable, sweeping generalization presented with no evidence. The narrator also claims that over 400,000 witches were killed in the inquisition. Again, laughable. The total number of people killed in the Inquisition has been greatly exaggerated and had been challenged by many historians.
Yeah Jesus!
❤❤❤
Fantastic jam. All great musicians. Thank you so much.
YEAH MOLLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
