  Kirk is defiantly not the best by any means. But he puts a lot of heart and soul into his solos and has absolutely no ego like 90% of guitarist have.

  Imagine being mad at Kirk because he is not the best guitar player while being in the biggest group in history of metal ( check stats before you give your unwanted opinion on that ). Of course he doesnt have the level Dimebag had for example but he has been performing and entertaining people for the last 40 years and made people happy. Eat shit

  I haven't seen them live but I never liked Kirk's live tone on videos, technique apart it sounds very bright and not rounded with not much presence, his studio tone is killer specially on the black album,also he is always a lil bit out of tune idk why

  @@elonmuskyaoi Quit fanboying, he has very good sense of melody when it comes to slow songs like Fade to Black but his sense of melody and phrasing are ass when he tries to shred, very cliche blues licks and he repeats phrases way too much to the point where its tiresome. Ride the Lightning solo is a great example of him holding on to licks just playing them over and over for way too long.

  Metallica never came up with a better solo. And yes, the bass line does contribute to thee overall feel of this solo. There isn't a single argument against it.

  How does no one else notice that he plays the same solo for every song? All of these are identical, even the slow ones. 1. Repetitive 4/5 note pattern ending in bend on the same note. 2. 4 bars of bends / discordant harmonics with wah. 3. Repetitive 4/5 note pattern, or a simple scale run filled with bum notes ending in bend. 4. 4 bars of bends / discordant harmonics with wah. End

  If you have seen the documentary where Bob Rock tortured him to get this solo out of Kirk you’ll realize just how much pain he had to go through for such a beautiful final product. Btw, this is not his best solo, that’s still clearly the Fade to Black outro 🤗
