11:39 Nope! A great breeding horse should be a great Show horse (confirmation & discipline) and a great riding horse (character, responsiveness, endurance & discipline). Otherwise, why would you even want them in your breeding program as a foundation - in this day and age?? They need to be the Whole Package. (I miss my fleabitten grey station. Forever in my heart. RIP)

I loved following Sheila Varian! I bought my beloved Gold V from her in 1983! The only reason she gelded him was because he didn't exceed 15 hands! I won so many championships on him too!

Larry, great interview. It sounds like you have never had the blood of Morafic and had to deal with his negative influence. Do you know how to test for lovesickness?

  • @johnjacobs4207

Great interview Mark. Lets talk genetics a little more. New comers need to be aware of the different good and bad traits of old stallions that are giving the breed a bad name. If we don't address this problem it will keep undedicated people discouraged and pretty soon there will be no registry. I have tried to make a few large breeders aware of which stallions are at fault but they are closed minded and think they are only breeding family horses. If uneducated and closed minded people keep including these bad stallions in their herd they will find out about it too late.

I just wish the breeders and show people would get back to the original type of Arabian. I really dislike what I see in the park horse class. It’s as though all of the onlookers and the participants of the class have totally forgotten what Arabians used to look like Galloping across the desert. These horses never had their tails dragging on the ground, and they never looked like saddlebred horses. Now they are more increasingly artificial looking. It’s so sad. Get back to the real Desert Arab with their natural gaits and soundness!

Our mare out jumped warmbloods, out ran thoroughbreds, she out smarted and out preformed any horse in a show or dressage ring? Arabs, the old school, traditional ones, are multitasking? They can literally do anything you ask and with passion loyalty determination grace and skill, they are incredible the pure original arabs, to know one is to love one, with it comes that passion to keep it pure and proper, no inbreeding, no change, they are perfect just the way they are x ours died at 38 surround by everyone she loved, she didn’t die of old age? Cancer got her! Arabs, the old old bred ones live so long!! 20 for an Arab is an insult to the breeding, most live well into the 30’s and our was still ridden in her 30’s by our children? That is normal? The new breeding is not x

I've been looking for a video that explains what to look for in a haulter horse. I bought a breeding pair of purebred Arabians about a year and a half ago they're only 3 1/2 now and gorgeous and now I'll have some Ideas of how to judge them

0:37 This Arabian and any horse should not be doing this for SHAME on this video showcasing a Arabian with STACKS on it's hooves. They are not 'Trained' they are abused. they cut around the horses hooves and put acid on them to make them kick into the air, big lick with wraps or shoe's involved is abusive and the only kind that is not is when a Tennessee walking horse is used WITHOUT ANYTHING BUT IT'S NATRUAL GAIT!
