There are only two reasons for offering a draw. The first is that you see that you have lost, or you believe that it is actually a draw on the premise that both sides will continue to play without making any mistakes. Both of these things imply a certain kind of arrogance that you should not get into the habit of.
Let me understand this correctly from your comment as it almost sounds like you’re saying I’m arrogant for not taking the draw offers from my younger opponents? - though I’m well aware of kids not being well versed in the endgame? Perhaps I am misunderstanding. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
You stole my opening?! /s
Yours? 😆
3 Nd2 = Tarrash; 3 Nc3 = Winawer, iirc
Ah yes. I actually remembered these yesterday all of a sudden. My mind just was not able to come up with them at the time of recording for whatever reason.
@@highgroundchess I understand. I'm starting to "Biden" more often, lol.
You are the 100th...
I appreciate your kind words, thank you for being a supporter!
The audio quietness has been brought to my attention and should be resolved in the coming weeks since I had a lot of these videos recorded. Improvements are coming. Thanks to @imno444 for pointing it out.
If she takes with pawn instead she can block Qe4+ with the queen. Only works if the queen takes.
Are you sure?
@highgroundchess yes I tested on customer board with max ELO AI to look for best moves. I also saw this when I tested on my own board, which is what caused me to look for the proper answer. It's not mate if they take with pawn
@@BeatDemon08 It is mate in 3 if they take with the pawn or the queen. Stockfish agrees with me. The primary position shows Mate in 3 no matter what they play. Check again since its all forcing moves (checks)
@highgroundchess I see the problem now, it changes where the 2nd knight captures, but it is still mate in three. If dxc5 then the b5 knight would then have to capture d4 instead of c7. So it is still mate in three. So I guess you're right 🤷🏽♂️ I was still trying to go off where the b5 knight would normally go in the puzzle. It just changes slightly. So yes, I was an dummy. Sorry!
@@BeatDemon08 You are certainly not a dummy. Its all good. I am happy we were able to work through it together to find the solution. No need to be sorry at all. It was a nice exercise to work through.
Yeah, I think I'll give this one a try. I got a ChessDojo yearly subscription but it didn't agree with me: I need more freedom to work on whatever I want. The Chess Gym seems to give more freedom: there are few things you have to do every day/week and then you are on your own to explore whatever you want in your chess study.
Qe4+#
Well done! 😀
Very nice game :) and well played
Thank you.
❤❤
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your game. I am an older USCF 1500 player trying to get back to OTB chess using the Pirc and KID, so it will be fun to watch your progress. I would have been confused by your opponent's move order as well. Gawain Jones suggests 6. ...c5 on page 271 of his long King's Indian book. Alireza recently played 6. ...c5 in a Titled Tuesday game shown on Chess Tempo. It seems the general plan is ...a6 and ...b5. Good luck with your chess, I'll be watching.
Many thanks for watching and your insightful comment. I may have to look into that Gawain Jones book too. Im using Robert Ramirez’ Counterblow course on chessable and clicking through KID games in chessbase. I have a new video coming soon with a much different gameplay. I would love to see some of your games. Consider joining my discord - small chess community for improvers.
Kh2
Not quite. Look again and see if you can find checkmate.
Was this supposed to be difficult?
Not at all. It’s a beginning puzzle. Players new to chess need to learn too.
@@highgroundchess Fair enough
Fun fact this is not a possible position in a Real game if it is whites turn it should be blacks so a stalemste
Indeed. That is correct. Some of the Polgar mates are like that.
Qd5,qd4
Not quite. Try again.
F3, d1
Not quite. Check again.
third one at Qg6
Not sure what you mean here. Can you explain?
qf3+, if kxd2, then rd1#. if ne3 then qxe3#
Very good.
@@highgroundchess thanks
Queen to f3
That is the start of it indeed.
Pawn on G7 goes to g8 turns into the knight
Well done!
The solution to the puzzle is actually nothing, as, according to the pre-answer description, it's no-one's turn. Please for the LOVE OF GOD can people STOP forgetting to mention who's TURN it is?!? It's ANNOYING.
Thank you for your suggestion. It is typically suggested that the player on the bottoms is usually the one to move. Not always but most times. This is fairly typical in many books and material online. Hope that helps.
1bro nobody said who's turn is it 2 you did not edit the comment 3 how tf is no one's turn
H7
I am assuming you mean Qh7. You got it.
Queen g7
The queen is not able to move to g7. I assume you mean h7 so nice work.
EZ
For you but maybe not for everyone who might be starting out.
EZ. The Queen can't take the rook, because then after Rxf6 there isn't enough material for checkmate.
That is ONE reason. Certainly not THE reason.
That is correct.
QH7
You got it.
Qh7
Well done.
Qh7#
Cant the pawn js take the king?
Good question. Black is moving down.
Qxg2+ seems to work too, forcing Kd1, Qd2#
Not quite. Ke1 and then?
Qe3+, if Kd1, Qd2# if Kf1, Nd2#
Nailed it. Well done.
Pawn next to black king promotes to queen
King can move to f7
Not quite. Kf7.
@hello23094 that’s correct if you play e8=Q
I paused before answer and I’m saying this before answer, pawn next to rook promotes to knight, to check the king with discovered check using rook and by using the recently promoted knight so your rook will not be taken
You nailed it. 🔥💪🏼
I tried to find a way to force d2 and then mate but it actually doesn't work. Then I found the solution :p neet trick with the knight
Well done. 🔥💪🏼
Yeah, that's easy
It’s a good starter puzzle. Some are easier. Some are harder.
can i ask how is there 2 bishop in white box isnt there suppose to be 1 black 1 white?
There are no bishops on the board currently. I think you are referring to the two connected pawns on the board I believe.
Nf6#
You got it. Nice work. 💪🏼
very good videos bro! keep uploading, don't stop and you will become a huge youtuber ❤️
Thanks for the kind words.
Nf6#
Boom! Nailed it.
How is queen f2 mate when king could go to g6?
Yeah I made a mistake. I didn’t bring the king back and then to f4 for the other variation for Qf2# so that’s my bad. Good catch.
I didn't even know that there was a queen
Hidden in the corner.
Qb7#
Well done. 💪🏼🔥
What a wacky position
Indeed it is.
too easy, also clarify which color we are checkmating for
Im happy you knew this one however not everyone has seen these, especially new players. I believe the video indicates who is being checkmated.
The real solution is promote to knight and knight and bishop mate them.
That would make life much more difficult but if you wanted practice with that of course. Haha.
Promote to a queen
Nailed it. 💪🏼🔥
uhhhhhhhhhhh okay?
Couldn’t figure that one out?
@@highgroundchess nah this was the hardest puzzle in all of chess I have even witnessed and attempted, my best guess was that pawn promotes to knight
Hahaha. 😂
gotta be the stupidest puzzle ive ever seen
You can thank Lazlo and Susan Polgar for such an interesting puzzle. 😉 hehe.
