Gravity is not a force, but rocket engines have to consume a significant amount of fuel to cope with it. A question please. Quantum fields differ from the "ETHER" theory in what way. ETHER was postulated to let light WAVES have a medium to pass through. Just like water is the medium for ocean waves to pass through. I think I know the FATE of the ETHER, But why do FIELDS get a theoretical nod?? the important thing about virtual particles is that, while, yes, mathematically they are "particles", that doesn't mean much for physical reality. for instance, they can't be measured individually, they can't be separated by any means, and they can't exist for very long. so yes, they "exist" in some sense, but not really in others. they are at the boundary of language.

In terms of all the quantum fields that occupy "empty" space, there apparently are legitimate disputes as to just how many fields there actually are (as few as 2, as many as 24; more?). Discussion of that would make for a nice video. Particularly as to the impact of how different number of fields might effect (or not) the production of virtual wavicles (cuz everyone knows quantum "particles" long ago should have been kicked to the curb in favor of this superior label).
